Thread: Hell Games

  1. Characters in this post:
"Wood and clay will wash away, wash away, wash away, wooden clay will wash away, my fair lady." Elizabeth continued. Her voice running like a river of honey through her pale bangs. She was anxious, a tremor running through her spine. She couldn't wait to finally begin this tournament, she needed to find some idea of worth.

  2. Characters in this post:
Karin looked at Sasha as if wanting him to continue the song. She noticed him to be off in his own world and decided to continue the song herself.
"Build it up with bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar, bricks and mortar. Build it up with bricks and mortar, my fair lady. . ." she let out through her parted lips. She can just now begin to feel how anxious she was and began to tap her feet on the ground. Her impatience grew even more when she realized that she couldn't even tell night and day from where she was.
'I hope night doesn't come yet. . .' she shivered at the thought as she remembered the last time that happened.
'Waking up in a pull of blood isn't something to be proud of.' she thought as she let out a depress sigh.

  3. Characters in this post:
Sasha turned to meet Karin's gaze and sighed. At least while they were singing, they weren't talking. "Bricks and mortar will not stay, will not stay, will not stay, bricks and mortar will not stay, my fair lady." He let out, nipping at his own lower lip. He was patiently waiting in a dark room with two white-haired young women, singing 'my fair lady'. If someone had foretold this in his past, he would've undoubtedly called bullshit.

  4. Characters in this post:
Karin clapped in delight as Sasha began to sing. She gave him a smile and a thumbs up as if to say that he was good at singing and turned to the shorter girl. Even though she wanted to hear the girl sing again, she herself wanted to continue the song.
"Build it up with iron and steel, iron and steel, iron and steel. Build it up with iron and steel, my fair lady. . ." she sang as she swung her legs in her seat. She looked up to the ceiling and sighed as she began to remember that full moon was coming.

  5. Characters in this post:
Elizabeth's eyes turned to Sasha, slightly surprised that he joined in on the song before going on herself. This was a nice time-killer while they waited for the hopefully soon to come new arrivals. "Iron and steel will bend and bow, bend and bow, bend and bow, iron and steel will bend and bow, my fair lady." There was something sacred, almost religion about this little trio they had going on. Which was ironic when you considered they were singing a nursery rhyme of all things.

  6. Characters in this post:
"Build it up with silver and gold." Sasha let out, his eyes turning away from the two girls. "Silver and gold, silver and gold. Build it up with silver and gold. My fair lady." Once he finished his line, he got up from his chair and began walking towards the door, curious to see if he could overhear the steps of someone coming, with some luck.

  7. Characters in this post:
"Silver and gold will be stolen away, stolen away, stolen away. Silver and gold will be stolen away, my fair lady." Karin sung as she anxiously looked at the board, waiting for it to say begin. Her eyes frantically darted from the board to the door as she tapped her feet in an uneven beat.

  8. Characters in this post:
"Set a man to watch all night, watch all night, watch all night. Set a man to watch all night... my fair lady." Elizabeth then briefly broke from the song to look at the door impatiently. "I sure hope we won't have to watch all night..." She uttered for either of them to hear, she'd been here expecting some form of action and thrill through which she could find a meaning to her life, not just a waiting line.

  9. Characters in this post:
When Karin heard that part of the song, she panicked a little. Her hands began to fidget on her lap as she took a couple deep breaths.
"I-I don't want to wait all night. . ." she muttered under her breath. She shook her head and returned to the song.
"Suppose the man should fall asleep, fall asleep, fall asleep. Suppose the man should fall asleep, my fair lady." she let out on a slightly shaky note.

  10. Characters in this post:
Sasha looked to the two girls and sighed, then decided out of complete boredom to alter the song. "Well then I guess it's tough shit, it's tough shit, it's tough shit. Well then I guess it's tough shit, my fair lady." With that, he held in a chuckle and caved in to his addiction, pulling out a smoke and lightning it promptly. To hell with it, the room was more than large enough to allow him to smoke without intoxicating anyone and it's not like there was anyone with asthma here.

  11. Characters in this post:
Karin was snapped right out of her nervousness as she heard the words that Sasha had sung. She looked at him with a bit of a bewildered expression, but she let out a giggle. She quickly covered her mouth, still smiling underneath as she looked away.
"Well then I guess that we are fucked, we are fucked, we are fucked. Well then I guess that we are fucked, my fair lady." she let out as a few giggles escaped along with phrase.

  12. Characters in this post:
"Seriously though, this wait is dreadful..." He let out, looking up to the panel hoping to witness some kind of miracle, but as he expected it was still just the three of them. "What a pain..."

  13. Characters in this post:
"No kidding..." Elizabeth followed, kicking a pebble she'd accidentally brought in when she entered the lobby. She looked up to the panel as well since everyone appeared to be fascinated by it and fiddled with her fingertips to keep busy.

  14. Characters in this post:
Karin heaved a nervous sigh as she pulled the hood over her eyes.
"This is just so troublesome. . . If this person doesn't come soon, then I'll have to find a room where I can be by myself for about an hour or so." she thought aloud. She shifted her gave to the board and then back her feet as she realized that this miracle will not happen no matter how much she stares at it.

    Notes
    • Every turn, the map will be updated to incorporate the new positions of the characters. Since this match is 1x1x1x1, no numbers will be displayed, but under team circumstances, characters of the same color would be distinguished by a number.
    • The color/number your character is represented by will always be above their player card.
    • The order of turns ALWAYS goes from left to right, with Karin followed by River followed by Zabeth followed by Sasha.
    • Have fun!

    Potential results of Dice 1

    • 1-2 = Happens to Karin
    • 3-4 = Happens to River
    • 5-6 = Happens to Zabeth

    • 10 = Loses 1 HP (a character cannot die this way.)
Since this is the first turn, there is no dice roll.

  16. Characters in this post:
Karin's agitation faded away as the fourth fighter entered the lobby. Once redirected to the fighting board, she lost all traces of expression and readied herself as she was the first one to start.

-Karin has Starter Perk, gaining 3 points of stamina
-Karin moves right 3 squares, expending 3 points of stamina
    -Karin ends turn

  17. Characters in this post:
Realizing a fourth player was coming, Elizabeth nipped her lower lip. She would've been happy if she could, but all she could feel at the moment was anticipation and a font of nervousness. "I guess we're starting soon then?" She pondered, looking up to the board to find a signal of the fact that the game was indeed about to start.

  18. Characters in this post:
Four players have entered the lobby.

    THE GAME HAS BEGUN!

  19. Characters in this post:
So he was the "new guy" on the board. Yes, it sucked. It sucked even more that he hadn't really done his research prior to entering the games. But when your Kiki (daughter) asks with those wide eyes and trembling lip, who would really refute? Granted, the more he looked into this game, the more he questioned his parenting skills. What dad, in his right mind, would let his little girl what a show called "THE HELL GAMES."

    +1 for coolness
    -1 for parenting

River, the "Blue Knight" as he declared himself, was trying to get a feel for everything that was happening. Had he not arrived late, he might have had a chance to get to know the other players. But he was too busy making sure his daughter was in safe hands as he "played" the game. Passing fro the lobby and onto the board, the blue player found his blue square. So far, so good, he thought to himself.

And then things started. He watched as the first player made her move -- she just advanced. Easy enough. If that's all the game entailed, following commands and moving, he wouldn't be at much of a disadvantage. Or at least that's what he was thinking.

Taking one step forward toward the direction of a gray square, River took to his knee. Lowering his head and ending his turn, he awaited what came next.

    - River moves one square forward (-1 STA)
    - River ends turn

  20. Characters in this post:
Zabeth looked around the stage as she noted the tiled grounds. She imagined that under a real match, she'd get to see some form of hologram depict a background or another for entertainment purposes, but right now she was happy with the way things looked. It was simple, she could see the size of the tiles she could move on and she could see the other three players from here. All in all, it was a relief. Calmly, she listened to the narrative instructions and briefly paused on the matter of dice rolls.

"What...?" She let out with a puzzled expression, but regained her senses when she saw that two of the players had already made their moves. "Oh... right." With that, she looked around her and noted a weapon tile on either side. It didn't seem to really matter which way she was going just so long as she got to one of them. "Hmm..." She thought, pressing a finger to the edge of her lips before finally stepping towards one of them, trying not to tense up too much.

-Zabeth moves two tiles rightward. (-2 STA)
    -Zabeth ends turn.

  21. Characters in this post:
Sasha paused for a moment as he entered the room, nipping his lower lip as his eyes opened wide. This was the stage of his first appearance in hell games and although the practice round would not be televised, it was one hell of a rush. "This is awesome!" He allowed himself to think as he struggled to maintain his stoic exterior. He watched as the other three players moved and analyzed the situation. "My best chance is to get a weapon from the start."He thought as he analyzed the area. Clearly, the area around him was different from the area around the other contestants.

Perhaps this was an opportunity to showcase his jumping ability. "Well, might as well..." He thought as he stretched a little before hopping across the hole tile, then headed quickly towards the weapon tile in front of him. "I can appreciate a good advantage..." He uttered as he rose his hand, waiting for the weapon to be slowly hovered down like it usually did on the show.

-Sasha jumps over the hole above him (-1 STA)
-Sasha moves up 2 tiles (-2 STA)
-Sasha ends turn on weapon tile.

    Sasha found a weapon

The 10-sided dice lands on 2

The 10-sided dice lands on 6

    BEGINNING OF 2ND TURN

  23. Characters in this post:
"Hm. . . two then six. . . I guess I have a resurrection idol. Good thing too. My HP isn't very high." Karin muttered to herself before taking a deep breath and hopping over to the tile on her left. "A weapon's tile. . . Wonder what I'll find. . ." she muttered.

-Karin moves one square to her left, expending 1 Stamina
    -Karin lands on weapon tile
    -Karin ends turn

  24. Characters in this post:
Still not quite sure what was happening, he just rolled with it. His dice number didn't come up after all (thank god!), which meant he was safe to move as he pleased. So, with that, he stepped forward two squares. Thinking back to his last turn, he kicked himself mentally for not moving forward two. Had he done that, he would have landed on a weapon by now -- or at least the gray tile before him.

What was hiding before him. He was just one step away from whatever the heck it was and it was killing him. With a concentrated exhale, he calmly rationalized to himself.
"Good things come in time. Can't rush everything now, can we River?"

    - River advanced two spaces to the left (- 2 STA)
    - River ends turn

  25. Characters in this post:
Zabeth took another two steps up and landed on a weapon's tile. Smiling faintly as she did so. "Alright..." She let out to herself, looking forward to whatever would come from this. She shook her head and ran her fingers through her hair as she rose her hand to collect whatever weapon was to come down. She was anxious to see. Hopefully she'd have something better than Sasha did, at least she hoped so. "Come on..." She let out, hoping for a good item.

As she waited, she finally understood the thrill of this little game. A part of her knew she was right. This would give purpose to her anger and - potentially - be the perfect place for her to take it out. "Give me something to break!" She let out mentally, unable to express physically the sort of rage she was experiencing.

-Zabeth moves two steps on (-2 STA)
-Zabeth lands on a weapon tile.

  26. Characters in this post:
Sasha took hold of the weapon and nodded. This would indeed prove to be a useful tool considering his base recovery was so low. All in all, he could not have asked for a more useful weapon. Swinging the weapon around to verify its weight and balance, he found himself relieved that the blade wasn't too heavy or light to be held in one hand. If he was to hold only one weapon, he would be left at a disadvantage against the other players. "Alright... this'll do." He finally let out before analyzing his position and opting to move one square up, one step closer to his next weapon.

From his position, he looked back to the square on which he had stood and realized it had become white once he took the weapon. "I guess those are one time things..." He thought to himself upon making the realization. He then turned to Karin. Her ability was to Juggle, so there was a chance she could end up with 3 weapons and someone on the playing field would only have one. The odds pointed to River, but at least he'd remain out of arm's way so long as he didn't arm himself. Then again, Sasha wondered what happened if two people moved to a weapon tile on the same turn. Did it count as a fight?

    -Sasha keeps Vigor Sword
-Sasha moves one step up (-1 STA)
    -Sasha ends turn

  27. Characters in this post:

    Karin finds Iron Bow

    RIVER
    River recovers 1 Stamina

    ZABETH
    Zabeth recovers to full Stamina
    Zabeth finds Robin Sword

    SASHA
    Sasha recovers 2 Stamina

The 10-sided dice lands on 7

The 10-sided dice lands on 4

    BEGINNING OF 3RD TURN

  28. Characters in this post:
"Sweet! Let's see. . ." Karin exclaimed as she took ahold of her new weapon. She never thought that all that weapons practice could affect her ability in battle. She let a grin play on her lips as she moved left. Two squares in between her and the fourth player. Because the bow was a ranged weapon, she was allowed to attack from that space. Remembering a few things that were told to her, she laid in wait for her opponent to make a move.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

-Karin moves one square to her left, expending 1 Stamina
    -Karin ends turn

  29. Characters in this post:
Woo. He was going to be the first to die. Well, that was if he played his cards wrong. He was at a unique advantage right now. He didn't have a weapon and that meant she couldn't attack him, at least without gaining a penalty. Of course, looking at the gray square in front of him, River wasn't certain he should take that leap forward. There was a chance it could lead to his demise. He was still down one STA. Not moving would allow him to recover that. But moving allowed him to pick up an item. He could always attack; he did have a ranged attack at all times. But that seemed... cruel.

    Gah, decisions!

She gave him the benefit of the doubt so he would return the favor. With a polite head bob, River ended his turn. As he shifted into his end of turn position, he cast his head up just for a second to give Karin a sincere smile.

Perhaps these kids aren't as bad as they seem.

    - River does nothing and ends turn.

  30. Characters in this post:
Taking hold of the weapon she'd just been granted, Zabeth could not help but give a small smile. Had she been able to, she would've been absolutely ecstatic. Her one weak point was offensive capability and she'd just gotten a boost there, plus she'd just received what speed she needed to cross to the next weapon tile in one move. This was turning out to be a great turn of events. "I like this sword..." She simply uttered as she tested the edge against the floor below her, making a small cut in the concrete. "Good enough." She followed through with, running her hand through her hair before making it to the next gray tile in a single bound. She didn't fully understood how a sword managed to make her faster, but it did and she was plenty thankful for it. "Too bad I can't keep you..." She let out, again, to herself as she hugged the blade close.

    -Zabeth keeps Robin Sword
-Zabeth moves 3 tiles to the right
    -Zabeth ends turn
