Introduction

Welcome to the Hell Games!

"We at HG are quite anxious to present you with the greatest team on team survival game of the century!
Only those capable of combining strategy, tactic, teamwork, specialization, skill and a little bit of luck can hope to become champions here at HG!
Among the hundreds to seek a chance to participate every year, only a select group make it past our screening tests and can hope for a chance to become the true victors!
Do you have what it takes to challenge the odds and vanquish all opposition in the quest for riches?
We can't wait to find out!"

What you have just read is the content of 90% of HG propaganda found in ads, newspapers, websites and etc. etc. With the promise of a 666,000,000$ price split evenly between the winning team in addition to complete HG facilities access, it's understandable that dozens and dozens of players around the world are looking to participate. Because of this, HG has become one of the most popular shows to hit prime time television and the contestants - granted they make it past the preliminaries - become near-instant stars. After 5 years of particularly successful turn-out and an increasing demand for more, the hell games has become the center of the entertainment world.

The intriguing thing? Despite the games being almost entirely team-based, subscriptions are done individually and there is no guarantee you'll end up on the team you want, hence, a lot of people are in it for themselves.

What about you? What are you looking for in this? Are you in it for the money? To become a star? To have some fun with your friends? Were you dared by someone? Are you trying to prove yourself? What is it?

Rules

Follow WTFRPG rules and regulations, be respectful OoC, what you do IC is your call.

THE HELL GAME

The hell game is based around a grid which is intended for a team on team setting, the teams being composed of an equal amount of players which's maximum is currently set at 5 but will grow to change as the RP expands.

Each player has 5 stats:
  1. Stamina: Maximum and starting amount of stamina, which determines how many actions you can perform each turn.
  2. Recovery: How many stamina points you recover per turn.
  3. Health: How many hits you can take before being knocked out.
  4. Speed: How many square you can move per turn.
  5. Attack: How much maximum damage you can do per turn.
A game is won in the following 4 manners:
  1. all the other team's members are K.O.
  2. your team has more remaining total health than the other team by post Px30. (meaning the total amount of posts is equal to 30 times the amount of players and the game still hasn't ended SOMEHOW).
  3. your team has 25pts more than the opposite team, or 15 more with the opposite team's score being at 0, or 50 points at any point in the game.
  4. Your team holds all the victory cards in play. (usually 5)
How to score points:
  1. A KO is 3 points (5 if its the team captain)
  2. Finding a weapon is 1 point
  3. Crossing the playing field (going from one side to the other) is 3 points.
  4. Acquiring your maximum amount of weapons is 1 point (not including the one received for acquiring the weapon itself)
  5. Picking up a victory (or V) card acquires you 1 point, however if you are KO'd, that point is lost and goes to the other team.
  6. starting a battle with an unarmed opponent while holding a weapon is -1 point.
  7. fleeing a fight is -2 point.
  8. being KO'd is -1 point.
  9. not moving on your turn when you have full stamina and/or are not in a fight is -1 point.
  10. Joining a fight when your team already has 1 player more than the other team involved is -1 point.
  11. Every time your team loses 4 points, you lose a 5th point.
  12. If your points are at 25, penalties double. (so as to make the game last longer)
How to move: You spend stamina points to move horizontally or vertically, unless a statement otherwise has been made.
How to start a battle: When you land on a square where one of your opponents is, a battle is declared.
How to acquire a weapon: First come first serve; You must end your turn on a square with a weapon (those are marked by a gray tile on the map above).
How to acquire a victory card:First come first serve; You must end your turn on a square with a victory card (those are marked with a yellow tile on the map above).
How to attack: you spend stamina points to attack an opponent on the same square as you. You can only attack once per turn. (some weapons allow attacking someone on other squares.)
How to defend:You spend stamina to reduce the damage of an attack dealt to you based on your opponent's attack. The remaining damage (if you don't spend enough stamina) is removed from your health.
How to dodge:You spend stamina to reduce the damage of an attack dealt to you based on your opponent's speed. Unlike blocking, this is all or nothing, so you have to pay the full amount +1. (ex: if your opponent's speed is 3, you must pay 4 stamina to dodge one of their attacks).
How to recover health and stamina: -If you remain motionless for 1 turn, you gain twice the stamina you would normally earn at the end of turn. -If you do so with full stamina, you will regain 1 HP. However, you will also make your team lose 1 point, so use this sparingly. ---You can convert 3 points of stamina to 1 HP. If you do this, you can give that HP to a player on a square adjacent to yours, or who is on the same square.-Some weapons have stamina and health altering effects.

MORE ON BATTLE
  1. The one who starts a battle gains 1 stamina (so if you spent 3 stamina getting to that square, it counts as though you spent 2).
  2. When in a battle, the first hit goes to the fastest of the two. (so if you're the fastest and you start the fight, you can attack right away, but if you're slower than the other, you have to wait your next turn).
  3. You can only hit once per turn, each point of damage is equal to 1 stamina, the maximum stamina you can put in 1 attack is equal to your ATK value.
  4. Escaping the battle makes your team lose 2 points, but being KOd makes your team lose 1 point. Choose wisely.
  5. You can join a battle taking place, if you choose to do so, you cannot attack right away even if you are faster than the other two fighters. (ex: A jumps in on B and C fighting. B's turn comes and he attacks, C's turn comes and he attacks, now that a turn has passed, A can attack).
  6. Your recovery goes up 1 for every extra fighter on the opposite team (if A is fighting B and C and usually has a recovery of 2, it is now of 3 until the fight ends or the number of fighters becomes equal again).
  7. Upon KO, you can salvage anything your opponent owns at that time. If there are two or more of you, the one who was part of the fight (or if the fight started off as many on 1, the first who was on the square) decides what goes to whom.
  8. Fleeing costs 2 stamina points, your opponent is NOT forbidden from starting another fight afterwards.
MORE ON WEAPONS
  1. Though they are called such, not all weapons are "weapons", some possible items include medical kits, armor, shields, boots, grappling hooks, etc.
  2. If a weapon's ability requires or involves doing something which would normally cause a penalty, assume it nullifies that penalty.
  3. The maximum number of weapons held by a player at a time is of 2.
  4. You can give a weapon to an ally who is on the same square as you or on a square adjacent to yours.
  5. Some weapons have limited uses, so think before you act.
  6. If a weapon boosts one of your stats, that boost does not require stamina to be activated (ex: A has 4 ATK and a +2 ATK sword, if he pays 4 stamina, he will hit by 6, if he pays 1 stamina, he will hit by 3.)
  7. You cannot talk to a character more than 5 blocks away from you, also, anything you say to a character at a certain distance can be heard by anyone within that distance. (ex: if Alan talks to Ophelia who is 3 blocks away from her, John who is 2 blocks away from him can also hear.)
MORE ON MOVEMENT
  1. Moving 1 square costs 1 stamina.
  2. The order of your turn is decided by your speed. If two or more characters have the same speed, stamina comes next, followed by recovery. If at that point the order still hasn't been decided, the team who's captain goes first will begin. If there are more than one from the same team, alphabetical order will be used.
  3. Moving can only be done horizontally or vertically.
  4. You can move a maximum of (your speed) squares per turn.
  5. If you move on a square containing one of your opponents, you enter a fight even if this was not your intent
  6. If you move on a square containing one of your team-mates, the next square you move onto will not cost you any stamina (however, you will still have the same limit of movements)
  7. Choosing not to move this turn increases your stamina by double your recovery value. Choosing not to move with full stamina earns you 1 HP, but costs your team 1 point.
MORE ON YOUR CHARACTER
  • Your character starts with 20 points to be spent as you wish. However, everything but stamina and health costs 2 points, so the "average" build would look like this:
STA: 4REC: 2HP: 4ATK: 2SPE: 2
In addition to your stats, your character is allowed to pick two perks, or one perk and a bonus 4 points. Here are some examples, but feel free to create your own. The only 3 rules are that 1.they cannot be OP 2. they must end with the suffix "-er", 3. They must contain less than 18 letters (spaces included):
  • Speedster: your character can move 2 more square than his speed would allow per turn.
  • Starter: your character starts the game with 3 extra points in stamina.
  • Juggler: your character can carry 3 weapons instead of 2.
  • Healer: Healing costs 2 stamina points instead of 3. Also, you can heal people who are not adjacent to you at a cost of 4 stamina points per HP point.
  • Reacher: You can attack someone who is in a square adjacent to you, doing so does not start a fight.
  • Damager: When you KO an opponent, your ATK goes up by 1.
  • Survivor: You do not get a penalty the first time you flee a battle. Also, if your HP is at 1, your stamina goes up by 3.
  • Rusher: You always attack first in a fight, regardless of speed.
  • Team Player: If you finish your turn on the same square as one of your allies, you both get +1 HP on his/her next turn without any Stamina expense. This also applies while in battle.
  • Jumper: Your character can move diagonally or pass (but not diagonally) over 1 tile wide gaps as though it were a single step.
  • Floater: Your character can move onto hole tiles.
  • Swordmaster: Your character starts a fight with a +1 ATK sword and gets 1 ATK for each sword in his/her possession.
  • Wall: Attacks deal -1 damage when blocked. (so an attack of 4 blocked with 2 stamina would do 1 damage instead of 2.)
  • Charmer: Characters of the opposite sex cannot start a fight against your character unless you (or you and other members of your team with the same perk) are the last one(s) standing.
CAPTAIN and ASSISTANT CAPTAIN
Each time has a captain and an assistant captain, these positions are first come first serve.
  • The captain is allowed an extra perk or a bonus 4 points
  • The assistant captain is allowed a bonus 2 points.
  • If the captain is KO'd, the team loses 5 points rather than 3.
  • If the captain is KO'd, the assistant captain counts as the captain, meaning his getting KO'd will result in a loss of 5 points for his team.
  • The Captain and Assistant captain always start first regardless of speed. (ex: captain A and captain B have a speed of 3 and 5. A goes second and B goes 1st. Their assistant captains have speeds of 6 and 2, ACA (6) goes third and ACB (2) goes fourth. Despite having a speed of 7, player C will go 5th since he was nor captain nor assistant captain.
  • The captain and assistant captain cannot heal themselves or each other, however they can be healed by other members of the team.
  • If a captain is KO'd, his current equipment goes to the assistant captain rather than to the other team, if this exceeds the amount of items the assistant captain can carry, he will leave the extra load on the square he is standing upon.
RANDOM EVENTS

Every turn, a random event will be decided by dice roll
The 22-sided dice lands on 4
The 10-sided dice lands on 2
The first die decides to whom the event happens, going by post order. 21 means it happens to nobody and 22 means it happens to everybody. If someone is out of the game his number now counts as 21.
The second die determines what happens. In this example (there will probably be more options by the time of the RP's concretion.) the possibilities are the following;
  1. Receives a health potion (1HP)
  2. Is attacked by a raccoon (2 ATK, 2 SPE, 3 HP)
  3. Is attacked by a wolf (3 ATK, 3 SPE, 5 HP)
  4. Is attacked by a bear (4 ATK, 4 SPE, 10 HP)
  5. Teleports to nearest weapon square
  6. Teleports to nearest ally
  7. Teleports to nearest enemy
  8. Loses 1 SP
  9. Loses 3 SP
  10. Recovers all SP
Thus, the 4th player (in post order) would be attacked by a raccoon.

If one of the "attacked by" possibilities occurs while you are in a battle, the animal joins the battle as a third party, attacking you on the first turn and your opponent on the next, continuing so until it is KO'd. Animals have infinite stamina, but never block or dodge. If you flee from an animal, it will begin chasing you.

The winning team gets a +2 points for every player to spend as they wish. if a player changes teams or joins the team late, his points will become the same as the team's. Upon a team winning 5 games, they join the final 4 who will compete in a 4 way battle for the title of champions.
HOW TO POST

The way posting is done in this RP is as follows:
  • RP SECTION: this is where you describe as you would in a normal RP what your character does, says, thinks, etc.
  • ACTION SECTION: this is where you detail the things you did in this post, in bold and in point form, this makes keeping track of stamina expenditure, character location and things of the like much easier for your poor GM who has to keep track of 10 people per game minimum.
EX:
Taylor gave a thankful thumbs up to Judy as he concluded the trade of his bow for her shortsword. "Thanks, this is a little more down my alley." He'd comment before turning to look at Zack, one of their nearby opponents. Without hesitation and with all his energy, he launched towards the dark-haired man, initiating battle in close quarters. "Hope you weren't looking forward to the finals you prick!" He'd call out as he launched into a leap, putting all of his strength into a swing at Zack's left shoulder, hoping to remove him from the competition.

-Taylor accepts Judy's Shortsword
-Taylor gives Judy his Bow
-Taylor moves from Q1 to Q3, expending 2 stamina points
-Taylor initiates attack on Zack, gaining 1 stamina point.
-Taylor attacks Zack first, expending 2 stamina points
-Taylor ends his turn

THE GRID
In case you weren't following, the thing at the top of the rules section is an example of the grid used in this RP, the grid will not always look the same and may be smaller/bigger depending on the number of players. Here is a quick understanding of how it works:

Yellow squares: victory card areas, collect them all to win by default
Gray squares: weapon areas, collect one to strengthen your character
Black squares: holes... don't step on those.
Other colors: starting points for the teams, where you are on the grid will be from left to right, going in alphabetical order. (so if Mike, Laura and Alex were on a team, Alex would be the furthest on the left, Laura center and Mike on the right.) Red and Blue will be used for matches with 2 teams, but other colors (green and purple) will be added for 3 and 4 way matches.
