Thread: The Clandestine Array

Jamie was waiting outside the warehouse. He had no idea if he was to see any random wanderer come and try to ask what he was doing here. He ran this place for gods sakes as a safe haven from the government trying to take our powers from us and experiment on us intensely just for the sake of human greed. That's all it was. Greed. The government was full of it which is why they were out to get me.

He was hoping to at least see some new flesh or perhaps someone he could take in so the warehouse wasn't just sitting there and actually got some use. He did happen to restore everything. He just hoped people wouldn't mind as the place grew.

Cadence stumbled upon what appeared to be some sort of warehouse, durring one of her wanderings. She figured, if nothing else, it would make a better place to sleep in than the alleyways she had been staying in for the last few nights.

Making her way around to the front, she was surprised to see a young man standing there. She hesitated on coming around the corner for a moment, before stepping out and revealing herself, making sure to have a shy smile on her face. The only thing that showed her nervousness was her white knuckles, wrapped around the handles of her violin case and small duffle bag.

He had noticed a girl come around the corner and saw that she had a duffle bag and a violin case. A musician on the run? This will be interesting though lets see that I get her set in if she has any powers. I'm sure I got more than enough rooms. "Who are you? Welcome to Clandestine. If you've got a special power then show me a preview of it now so I don't feel like i'm dealing with a deaf person. At least I hope you're not deaf." He said slowly so she could understand and so that she wouldn't be too scared. If she even was.

Cadence frowned, not really understanding what he was talking about. How could she tell him such things if she couldn't talk. Getting an idea, she dicided to kill two birds with one stone. Setting her bag and violin on the ground next to her, she took a deep breath, and started tapping her foot on the ground. This made just enough sound for her to see a green/blue shade shimer around the are. Forcing the noise to carry farther, she focussed on shaping the waves to spell her name, facing the man, and then on making the colour visible to him. She didn't know why, but she felt like she could trust him.

She knew she had been successful when she colours darkened in her vision, almost obsuring everything that she had previously been able to see through them. Smiling brightly, she let her control over the sound drop, and then pointed to herself.

"Cadence? Welcome. Umm....i'm sorry the warehouse isn't in tip top shape but this place still needs alot more renovations and well....just come inside." He would go move from leaning against the outside to head towards the living room and kitchen. These rooms looked very old, almost as if they have been there for years, featuring some restored items that should work and have been tested to work. That all is a matter of luck though as it has not truly been tested. He then began to exit the area in which those were in.

He then directed her to the open field in which he began to speak again. "This is the field which has more than enough space for you to practice your powers. It is roomy for even the biggest of destruction and surely won't alert the authorities as we're on the outskirts far from town. Which i'm not offering a ride unless I happen to steal a car or two from a local dealership. Which altogether would be risky and require time." Jamie then turned around to see her expression as he would continue the tour if she had any feedback on things.

Cadence followed the man around, looking at everything. She noticed it wasn't at modern as a lot of the places she had been to before, but what did she expect to find in a warehouse? At least it's clean, she thought to herself.

When they got to the field, her smile brightened. It looked wonderful, and she could see herself spending most of her time out here. The only reason she realized the mand was still speaking was because of the dark blue weaving through the air around her. She turned towards him, seeing that he looked like he was expecting her to say something. Realizing something, she pulled out a small pad of paper and a pen from her back pocket, and writing "NAME?" in nice bold lettering, before showing it to the man.

He looked at the paper which asked his name and smiled at her. "The name is Jamie. Jamie Kolmia. This is my warehouse and I am the caretaker of this. I am 18 and it is nice to meet you Candence." He said it with a happy grin before giving the motion we're moving on as we headed towards her room. It would be right next to his.

"Welcome to your room. Get right at home. This room is of my own design and features something any women would want. Maybe not enough but a good amount to please her." Jame would quickly get out of the room and close the door behind her to see that she gets adjusted before meeting with her again.

"This is such an awesome feeling." Jamie had a feeling this would be a good cover if he ever got trapped in a cornfield with people all around as he could totally pull one of those "Wasn't there someone here two seconds ago?" moments where it confuses the hell out of the people and they simply shrug it off and move on searching for the individual.

He started his metaphorical engine. I say metaphorical as I don't really have a means of turning it on or off. It's basically always on but I can basically put it in a sleep mode of sorts and make it appear off. I guess...if that is off. Whatever. Jamie would drive around the field and get a feeling of the wind on solid metal before getting near the warehouse and transforming back to his normal human self.

"Next I might as well become a semi truck like Optimus Prime and have a trailer and everything." He said as he was thinking to himself, "And also use it to hijack cars..." He sort of shrugged the idea away as he wasn't a criminal...or was he? Was he a criminal? He ignored this thought before going back inside to fix a problem which he had yet to fix with the water pipe...

Jade continued to peek behind the tree and watch the tractor drive around the field for awhile. The odd part was, however, that it seemed to be moving by itself. Wiping the tears from her eyes, she squinted for a better look. The tractor WAS moving by itself. A few years ago this would have surprised Jade, but after turning invisible there were somethings that weren't so surprising.
Closing her eyes, Jade concentrated hard on becoming invisible. She wanted a closer look at the tractor but didn't want to be seen if the boy came back. That was how she had gotten here without being seen so far. She opened an eye and peeked at her arm. To her relief she couldn't see it. Since she had very little control over her powers sometimes she tended to not go completely invisible when she wanted to. After taking a deep breath Jade slowly went more into the open field and watch the tractor some more until it suddenly turned into a blonde boy.
Jade gasped then quickly clamped her hands to her mouth. She hadn't been imagining things when she saw the boy.
'Maybe he's the guy,' She started to think to herself as she hurridly followed him. However in her hurry she stumbled and let out a small squeak of surprise.

He was planning on fixing the water pipe before hearing a squeak come from somewhere so he looked to the direction as to where it was. He looked a little more before advancing towards the sound and hoping to bump into whatever made that noise. He wasn't much for detecting a menace though if he did he surely would try his hardest to beat it to a pulp....

"Hello? Anyone there?" He said curiously and cautiously as he advanced the way he heard the sound from as he had yet to see it within his sights.

Jade gasped and started to step back. "H-hello," She answered softly. Even though she answered she continued to step back. She didn't want to be seen or have her location be found until she knew it was going to be safe for her. "P-Please don't come any closer!" She called.
Now that she had a better view of the young man she saw that his face had a kind look to it. Suddenly she stumbled back and fell on her butt. "Ow..." She said softly. The surprise of the fall had made made her semi-visible now, but she had yet to notice.

He looked down on the ground to see someone, what looked like a girl, on the ground. She had fallen and he could faintly see her. Invisibility is a new one. Thought it was a not possible except only with green screen nowadays. Something surely had to screw up her genetics somewhere. So he went over to her and kneeled down in front of her.

"Are you ok?" He said sympathetically as she had stumbled into the right place as she was looking at the man who would help her be in the clear safety and hopefully get her started on learning to tame her abilities. It after all was something that needed to be done to some if not all of those whom stumble upon here.

Jade looked up at the young man tearfully. "Y-you see me?" She asked timidly before looking down at herself, "Oh no!" She started to tear up again and wiped her eyes. She kept her head down and sniffled. The last thing she wanted was for him to see her face and turn her in. There wasn't anyone who wasn't talking about some doctors daughter going missing. She was a valuble piece of data after all. Even if her parents didn't care to find her, her mothers company surely did.
At this thought Jade sobbed softly. "I-I'm fine. I'm just fine," She lied wiping at her eyes furiously.

"Do you know what fine means? It means freaked out, insecure, neurotic, and emotional." He said with an intent to open her mind to words which do not mean those things. She had to get rid of those traits or at least hide em from him. He could pick out a problem in a person and get them to fix it as he had a very intelligent brain and a keen eyesight for understanding emotions.

Jamie looked at her before grabbing her hand and lifting her up off the ground so that she wouldn't be collecting ants or dirt on her butt. That'd actually be kind of amusing. That'd i'd never lie about but hey...she can't hear my thoughts.

"Welcome to the Clandestine Array." Jamie stated smiling a grin of acceptance before letting go of her hand and continuing inside before stopping for a moment to look at her and turn his head to her. "Looking for a place to stay? Follow me."

A sob caught in Jade's throat as she looked up at the young man again. This time her eyes were filled with surprise and slight intrigue. She hadn't expected him to say something like that and for a moment it made her think that her crying was silly. But, before she had anymore time to think about it the young man had already grabbed her hand and helped her up.
A soft blush spread across her face and she nodded. "Th-thank you," She said softly. She smiled back shyly. "S-so you're the one...?" She asked as she folloed him. Jade could hardly believe he was the on the rumors were about. For some reason she had expected him to be... older.

Cadence stopped just inside the doorway to the outside, making sure to stay out of sight, while trying to see if she could tell anything from the sounds. It sounded like whoever was in the helicopter was firing missiles or something over to the sides of the building. Why they would do that, she didn't know. From her experiences with military, or even police, she knew that they were more organized that to randomely shoot at nothing, unless it was a scare tactic.

She turned to where she knew Jade was, thanking her ability to see where the sound waves parted around the other girl for that. She motioned for the smaller girl to give her her hand. She would have to hope this made it easier to get her message across, as she didn't have time to go get her notebook and pen.

Jade came closer and grabbed Candence's hand. She was trembling and buried her face slightly against the other girl. As her grip tightened on her hand Candence's arm slowly turned transparent. "Wh-what's that...?" She asked in a whisper as the alarm began to sound. She hadn't ever had any experience with the military or even the police much less any helicopters.

Cadence's eyes widened in shock again as her hand turned transparent just from touching the other girl. She forced herself to stay calm, not liking how Jade was handling this at all. She needed to get her calmed down. She petted her head and rubbed her back a bit with her free hand, flipping over the one she was holding.

She spelled out 'HELICOPTER' on the smaller girl's palm, not wanting to lie to her. She bit her lip, but knew she'd have to do this. 'DO YOU THINK YOU CAN GO INVISIBLE AND SEE WHERE IT IS?' she wrote, hoping not to overwhelm her. She needed to know where it was, but she couldn't tell because the colour from the helicopter blades was making her vission covered in an orangey-yellow that made it harder to see properly. It was too loud to tell the exact direction, as well.

Jade slowly stopped trembling as Candence patted her head and rubbed her back. It had been a long time since she had been comforted like that and it made her feel better than she expected. Her grip loosened on the other girls hand and she backed away slightly.
After Candence spelled out the instructions on her hand Jade nodded slowly. "O-ok... I-I'll do it," She answered after she realized that the other girl couldn't see her. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes to relax. Once she had calmed down she pulled her hand out of Candence's and slowly started out of the Warehouse. "D-don't worry," She said softly, though it was more to herself than Candence.

Tired, weak, and miserable, Jayden groaned as she nearly tripped over a branch in front of a large clearing in the forest she had been wandering through. She had been convinced that she was hopelessly lost, but her heart rose as she noticed a grey building. Tilting her head to the side, the girl stepped through, pulling her cloak around her so it wouldn't catch on low branches.

What is this? Are there people?

Almost as if on cue, Jayden spotted two figures standing in front of the building. Surprised, she gasped, stepping behind a tree to hide herself. Her foot rustled a clump of dead leaves, and she mentally prayed that she hadn't been heard. These people might not be safe. She had learned a lot about trust in the past few weeks, and most of the lessons were not good. If her own family had wanted to kill her for her... her 'gift'... then God only knows what these strangers would think of her.

Jamie had though the idea was boring now and suddenly turned himself back to normal. He grinned at the thought that the Apache idea was a huge success since the helicopter was of a military nature and is used in signs of huge distress. I remember that movie War of the Worlds which had a Apache....man....that thing is why I like turning into it...the movie proved it was awesome, he thought to himself.

He noticed there was someone hiding behind the tree and slowly walked his way over there. He tried to be as obvious as possible with it because he had nothing really to hide except the facility and his powers. He highly doubt she saw him transform into an Apache, and transform back into his human form. So i'm fine....I hope...if she doesn't freak out...

Seeing the man turn towards her, Nadya knew that she had been seen.

Silently praying that this person wouldn't try to hurt her, she stepped out, her dark eyes wide with caution.

"H...Hello," she began, softly at first before gaining confidence, "I am sorry, I think I am lost..."

The man looked kind enough, but she had learned that looks were often deceiving. What was this place? It looked like some kind of fort...

Jamie stared at the poor girl feeling a little bad for her before starting his speech on describing the facility which he runs. He lets out a little cough and messes with his collar of his shirt before he starts, "Welcome to the Clandestine Array. An organization for those with special abilities and and talents. We are off the grid and away from civilization....well....enough away from civilization so if you blow something up the government won't notice!" He smiled a little at the last comment before moving on.

"This facility is equipped with quite a few luxuries including a kitchen, a living room, a massive field for training or doing whatever, and your rooms." He then grinned over at the girl with a kind grin, showing he was not a threat. Hoping she'd enjoy what luxury this facility has to offer.

As she listened to the man speak, she tilted her head to the side.

A place for people with... special abilities?

She smiled slightly in return, but she was still unable to fully trust this stranger's words.

"What exactly do you mean by 'talents'?" she asked. She wasn't going to reveal herself yet, at least not until she made sure that he meant what she thought he did.

"Talents...something that makes you different from someone in todays modern world. A thing that separates you and allows you to do something no other person can do. That sort of talent...." He made a short pause before continuing, "Something like this...." He moved back a few feet before transforming himself into a a Ford F-150 that was of a camo color and having dark colored rims that almost blend into the design.

He would stay inside his transformation for a good few seconds before turning back to normal into himself and starting to talk as calm as ever, "Talents like that...something totally unique and out of this world that no one can match your talent..." He said before smiling at last with a calming expression and hoping she would trust him.

Jade jumped in slight surprise when the helicopter turned into Jaime before she realized that he had most likely been testing them. With this knowledge a sense of calm washed over her as she sighed in relief. "I-It was just Jaime," She said.
Jade's voice was more even at this point though she was still, for the most part, invisible. She watched him walk to the wooded area and wondered what he was doing.

Nadya did not speak for a while, so amazed at the man's transformation.

"I... I see..." she managed, trying hard to seem more casual, and failing, "I can't believe I found this place..."

Eyes wide, the girl slowly stepped over to the man and took his hand, shaking it enthusiastically. "My name is Nadya Arcos, I was cast out because of such abilities. Not as impressive as yours, of course, but..."

Her voice stopped as she realized she might be talking too much. Blushing slightly, she looked at the ground. "And... ah... this is just all so wonderful sounding."

He noticed her looking at the ground at her slight embarrassment of her having powers as well and said as nice as he possibly could, "There is nothing to be shy about here. This facility is nothing but a hotel which surprisingly everything is accessible but still needs some upgrades here and there. I hope you just enjoy what you're offered so let me give you a tour..." He started walking to the field in hopes that she'd follow behind.

"The field here is the area where you can freely practice with your powers. We're quite a bit away from the city so there is no way that they'll see anything you do. Plus you have a trained...well....not really a firefighter but I can turn into an engine.", he said it enthusiastically, "I recommend you stay a good few miles close to the compound if you're going adventuring though...." He finished his long tour of the field before slowly going inside the facility.

Wordlessly she followed, taking everything in and the whole time wondering if this could be a dream. The place was enormous and secluded.

"How many people live here?" she inquired as they entered the building, suddenly very curious about the number of people who had these powers.

As he entered, he made his way slowly to the living room before stopping to talk, "There's three at the moment but more should be coming in any moment now. That'll depend on if they find it or not..." He said it as he looked around the living room to see if everything was there before speaking, "Anyway, this is our little living room. You can see the TV, a console or two, and some games with movies also beside em. There's also the couch there and a the table for you to do whatever."

He then began walking again, moving to the kitchen. He would show her everything about it and not really speak at all since it wasn't completely finished at the moment as it would require a little bit more work long before it was done. He might have to go and get some supplies and may need some help...

Then he began heading down the hall before he would stop at a room which was not showing signs of occupation and then turning around to look at Nadya. "Here's your room. Not much but each room has some unique quality to it. Surely you'll find some close to brand new furniture and probably some things that remind you of the world that is outside", talking to her like a friend, "and i'll be preparing to get ready to head into the city to rob some supplies...I may need someone to use a forklift to put it in the back of the trailer of my tractor trailer transformation." He finished and talking about her room and what he was planning to do soon in hopes that she may join along once she gets set in.
