The clock had just chimed 12 o'clock. The sound of clock tower bells chimed through the large island. On this island was the famed Velubian Academy. A mystery school in itself. Most thought of it as a prestigious school where only the best student got in. Others thought of it as a high end private school for anyone who had the money. And really, the latter was more correct. However, Velubian Academy is a place for all who need to be put on there 'Happily Ever After'. Who need to be steered toward their perfect future. On the right path.

Here, students will make their own Happily Ever After.

Now being 12 in the afternoon, people had started gathering around the front of the school. Families and students a like had already gone to dorms and set them selves up. It was now time for the Head Master to give his beginning of the year speech. A speech everyone except new students and freshman had heard before. The Head Master, Mr. Walton, was a respected gentleman. Being 46 of age and having a family of his own, Nicolas Walton knew how to control kids and teens a like. He was kind and gentle but firm and tough when needed. A favorite of the students. But you do not want to hear your name read by the secretary on the loud speaker.

Mr. Walton stepped up to the podeum infront of the school doors and adjusted the Mic. Behind him sat the school staff. Ranging from the Vice Principle to the lunch ladies. As Mr. Walton adjusted the mic, the murmer of the people silence. He cleared his throat before gripping the edges of the podeum and started his speech.

"Familes... Students... Faculty. It is time again for another wonderful year at Velubian Academy. It is time once I again to welcome new faces and returning friends into our halls and our home. This school was built for a purpose. Yes, we are here to educate your students and we will educate them with the finest teachers and treat them as our own family. Yes, we are here to teach your children about the world. But more importantly, we're here to give them a future. We're here to set them on the right path and give them a leading start into the real world. We're here because we care for the students that we call here"

He paused a moment, looking over the crowd as they stared up at him.

"Welcome, friends, to the start of your life."

A few applause errupted from the crowd slowly before Mr. Walton continues on.

"With that being said and your students prepared in their dorms for the new school year, I bid your parents and family fare well. For the rest of the day, students may wander and get to know the others of the school. I ask that you do not go into Etoile Village for today and save that for next weekend. Lunch will be served in the cafeteria until 2:30 and Dinner will be served later today at 5. I hope you all have a wonderful day. Students, if any of you have a question, I'll be in my office."

With that, Mr. Walton stepped down from the podeum and headed off toward the Main office. Students and families were left to say good bye to one another. It was time for the students to get a feel for their new school. Some may already have it, others may need a little help. Tomorrow would start the beginning of classes and the new school year.

After the moving speech by Mr. Walton, most of the students had said their good byes and started to move toward the cafeteria. After a long morning of unpacking their entire room from home, they were hungry and simply wanted to relax. The cafeteria was the place to do so! Romey, a newly entered Freshman, was following the rest of the crowd, interesting in the world outside of her own. She gazed at the people around her and the beautiful structure of the world. She had only see pictures while browsing the internet her mother let her go on. Finally, she was going to start living a real life. Mr. Walton was right... This was her first step toward her life.

As her and another group of students entered the cafeteria, she stopped and took in the sudden delicious smells of the room. To other students, the cafeteria was set up like a college cafe. All lunches were payed for in tuition and every student was given a student ID that recognized each student that came in. For today, people could just walk in. There was an entire buffet of food. Fountain drinks, Desserts, Ice cream, and everything served was like it was in it's own country. Asian cuisine to the right, pizza to the left, sandwiches in the far corner, and vegitarian foods behind her. It was a wonderland of carbs and fattening foods. Where would she start?

Romey decided on something simple to ease her overwhelming head. She grabbed two slices of pizza and a bottle of water and headed out to the eating quarters. This room was surrounded by glass walls that gave a view of the water surrounding the island. Long tables were set up in the middle and on either side of these tables were smaller round ones. Romey took the liberty of taking one of the round tables, unsure of where to sit. She would make friends eventually, just not now. She was worried that she might overwhelm a new face with far to many questions. She was only a freshman... and this was her first time out of a house in years. Literally. So, she sat and she ate, taking in the view from outside, thinking about the easiest way to paint it.

The tall, well built blond stepped out of the boys dorm elevator. He stretched, cracking a few bones in his back and sighed. Another year to be king. Percy stepped into his floors lobby and headed toward the dorms. He was dorm #201. He had already been up here and had already gotten all of his things in the dorm. His dorm mate was a close friend of his, Parker Rochafort. A quiet kid but someone Percy seemed to get along with somehow. For his loud, tough demeanor, Parker and Percy seemed to make a good pair.

Percy stepped into the dorm and smiled. This place treated every student like a king or queen. A full apartment suite as their Dorm. Kitchenette to the right, living room in the middle, bathroom to the left and two separate bedrooms for the boys to... be alone. This was the way Percy wanted to live at a school. Not some cramped room with nothing but beds and desks. That wasn't the Velubian way.

Percy smirked and flopped down on the included couch. He didn't know if Parker was around or not, nor did he care. He simply wanted to relax. He leaned his head back, putting his hands behind it and sighed. He loved getting away from the family. Although school wasn't his favorite thing... it was better than living with those damn cousins of his. He could be himself here. He could be the king.

Percy sighed and lifted his head a bit, opening one eye. "Yo, Parker! You in here?" He called out, "You want to eat in or go grab some lunch downstairs? I know how much you hate that place."

"Yes, I know. I'll write to dad, tonight. Uhuh. Okay. Goodbye, Nicole. What was that, Lis? Oh yes, thank you. Okay. Bye. Got it, you too, Michel. Oh and Aliénor, tell little Max I said hi. Uhuh. Okay, call you later. Yes, I love you, too, Marge. Oh, my God. You guys still haven't hang up? Yes, I love you all, too."

Em hung up her phone and let out a long exhausted sigh. She appreciated her sisters for taking the time to call her, but, seriously, did they all had to do it at the same time? After 10 minutes of extending the 3-Way Conference Calling, they had somehow managed to connect the call among the six of them. But, it didn't stop there—oh, nooo—,they also had to start speaking up all at once and bombarding her with a string on irrelevant questions—Em sometimes wonder if they did it on purpose just for the kick of it—, succeeding in giving her a massive headache. She rubbed her temples and adjusted the frames of her glasses. Really, those people. Shaking her head in disbelief, she took a sip of her ice lemonade and started forking her lasagna.

Luke had just sent his parents out the gate and was feeling sorta hungry. Guess it was because he didn't have a bite of anything solid since yesterday morning before he and his parents went out all day shopping at Etoile Village. Walking in the cafeteria, the first person he saw was Émilie. She was sitting alone at a table closest to the counter, eating a feast portioned for 3 people all by herself. There was a slight scowl on her face which contrasted gravely with her gentle face. If you didn't know any better, you'd think she was just a quiet damsel having a bad day. But, there was also the air of arrogance and purpose that showed in her every movements which defined her very personality.

Grinning, Luke made his way to her and proceeded by wrapping his arms around her from behind and lifting her up into the air. "EMMYY!" She jolted from the surprise hug but immediately calmed after she had heard Luke's voice. Of course, she thought flatly, rolling her eyes and trying to pull his hands off her—which wasn't an easy task, considering the massive difference in their height and strength.

"It's Émilie," she corrected half-heartedly. Luke had a thing about nicknames and since the day she had met him two years ago, he hadn't even once called her anything else. "Luke, gettoff!"

He gently put her back down and took the seat opposite from her. Grabbing an untouched spoon beside her plate, he dug in her half eaten lasagna. With a smudge of sauce on his chin, she heard him asking a question, his voice muffled by the food still chewed in his mouth. "Sho whersh Jakey?"

Em lifted her gaze and caught his eyes. "How am I supposed to know where Jocelynn is?" Luke merely shrugged in response and allowed his eyes to travel around the cafeteria. Seeing an unfamiliar face, his eyes lit up. "Ooh, I see a freshman."

"Go and say hello then," she replied sarcastically, forking another mouthful of her lasagna. Chuckling, Luke got to his feet and started towards the brown haired girl. Sitting on a seat uninvited across from her on the round table, he introduced himself cheerfully.

"Hello, my name's Luke. And believe it or not, I'm the Student Council's President. What's your name?"

A rather peculiar thing was happening at Velubian Academy, Dorm #201. The lack of conspicuous peculiarity made it seems as though the day was chalking up to be yet another mundane king, one that blended among its hundreds of similarly uneventful brethren. But have no doubt: something odd was going on in Dorm #201. Though if some silly little freshman whose frazzled nerves caused him to confuse his own room for #201, he would find nothing out of the ordinary if he took a little peek inside- just a regular Velubian room with regular Velubian furnishings.

No, it wasn't the room itself that was so strange. It was its first occupant, who lay stretched out on his bed, his belongings already organized into the usual haphazard fashion he decorated his room in. (If only it had the smell, then it would really start to be like home). The boy didn't look so odd, in fact his mother always told him how handsome he was. And how much more handsome his aunties would find him if he just smiled for the family photo, dammit. The strangeness wasn't relative to his build or the symmetry of his face, but it did have something to do with what he was wearing. A smile. Parker was smiling.

    He was disgusted with himself.

Parker was, perhaps, more well known for his chronic moodiness and his ever-present frown than he was for being a 'Prince'. Today, however, it seemed as though he decided to sport a smile (a small one, but if one were to tilt their head and squint their left eye and stand at a certain angle it was certainly visible) and discard his frown on his dorm room floor, probably wedged somewhere between his pile of shirts and embarrassing collection of socks for safekeeping. He didn't know why he was in such a good mood, school had just begun again, but even that didn't put a damper effective enough to wipe that miniscule smile from his face. Maybe it was that trashy pop song by some generic popstar that blasted into his ears through his earphones. Shut up. It was a guilty pleasure of his.

Just before the song got to its chorus and Parker could really jam out (if lying in bed with hands clasped together like a corpse constituted as jamming out), he heard his roommate call out to him. His earphones and the embarrassing tune were ripped from his ears and Parker pushed himself up, but not before giving an annoyed grunt in reply to the interruption. Despite this show of irritability, Parker's smile didn't fade as he bulldozed his way through his belongings to get to the door.

"The hell do you want?" was his warm and loving reply to Percy. He knew that he didn't have to keep himself in check around Percy and the others, they knew that Parker's unfriendly replies had no bite. He moved near the couch and gave the armrest a swift kick, yet another friendly gesture à la Parker. "You know I hate being around people," he scoffed and furrowed his eyebrows slightly, "Why bother even asking?" It wouldn't be a conversation with him if there wasn't a little hostility.

"Besides, we both know the moment some blonde bimbo walks on by you're deserting my sorry ass." That tiny smile returned as he continued on. "I'm surprised, you're not going to brag about all the girls you got with? Don't tell me you're a-," he stopped abruptly before adopting a sarcastic tone. "Changed man."

  20. Characters in this post:
Percy smirked as he heard the familiar thrash of objects come from Parker's room. His eyes shut once more as he waited for his bi-polar friend to barge out of his room and welcome his beloved king. No doubt the smaller boy was listening to that garbage pop music again. Something Percy had walked in on one morning during their sophomore year. Parker made Percy promise not to tell anyone. That didn't mean he wouldn't use it against Parker if they ever got into a nasty fight, that was just the kind of back stabbing person Percy was. His eyes lazily opened when Parker kicked the armrest. His eyes drifted over to look at his friend with a small smirk.

"You know me so well, Princey." He mused, standing to his feet. He walked by Parker, pinching his cheek as he went. If it wasn't the cafeteria... then it was microwaved food from the kitchenette. He pulled out two personal pizzas and placed one in the microwave before turning back to the brunette. "I was going to save the bragging for dinner... But if you're so eager to hear-" His eyes narrowed as he examined Parker's face. Something was off about him. More off than usual, that is. Percy stepped forward and leaned toward Parker. "Something's different about you..." He said, squeezing his cheeks in his hand.

Percy finally stepped back and gasped dramatically. "You! YOU'RE SMILING!" He stepped out of his dramatic pose and crossed his arms over his large chest. "Somethings got you in a good mood? Did you get some early morning ass or something?" The two of them... they were both playboys. They went after any girl that caught there eye and no doubt, they got them. All though, Percy always had a more open eye while Parker was more... picky. Whomever they wanted, though, they got them. And they had their fun.

  21. Characters in this post:
Parker was tempted to give his good ole' pal a friendly punch across his pretty little mug, but he knew in doing so he would have to forfeit his smile and his somewhat good mood. He decided against it. Percy's smugness always set him off, but today would be different. Percy wouldn't get to him, no he wouldn't. Besides, it wasn't as if Percy had committed any crimes against him (though Parker was convinced that having a face that smug was something that warranted a hefty fine). It wasn't like his blonde friend had told anyone about his humiliating taste in music. That would be punishable by death.

The relief he felt when Percy agreed not to leave the confides of their dorm was insurmountable. Though he didn't hate the other students he certainly didn't look forward to having to interact with them. It wasn't so much because of the difference of status, but because Parker was just a bit of an unsociable jackass. "I was being sarcastic when I asked you that." Parker rolled his eyes at his friend's willingness to brag. "No, I don't want to hear about how big her boobs were or how-" he shuddered, "kinky she was. You always get the nutjobs with daddy issues."

Also, if he had to witness some playboy bunny reject rubbing against Percy for the hundredth time he was sure he'd have to deck both of them in the face just to put an end to it. Hearing Percy brag about his conquests was bad enough, having to witness his friend in action was, as improbable as it seemed, even worse. But his own inability to interact with others normally was his own fault. It did, however, add insult to injury whenever any of the other Princes got more action than he.

Punching Percy seemed like a perfectly acceptable response to having his cheeks pinched, so much in fact that his smile steeled slightly and his hand clenched in preparation. However, the punch was aborted at Percy's sudden invasion of his personal space. The very smile that his friend was so surprised to see morphed back into his usual frown, brows furrowed and all. "So what? I smile too. I'm happy all the damn time."

"Tch. No. The ones left are all probably scared of me." While Parker didn't have much trouble attracting girls who liked the 'angry, aggressive type', he lacked the finesse and suave the other Princes had. Not that the other guys may have noticed his lack of smooth moves since all the girls he ever slept with all came to him, not the other way around. "Scratch what I said before, I'm the one who gets the ones with the daddy issues. You get the easy ones."

    Jocelynn

The dark haired girl nearly fell asleep during the Headmaster's speech, probably due to the fact that she had heard it three times now. It was the same thing each year, sometimes with slightly different wordings. "Oh, thank you for paying your way to come prance about on our campus!" she basically told herself as the drowned out the man's words as she started to drift off.

Suddenly, at the mention of food, she woke up and nearly jumped up, only to be stopped by the angry glares of the people around her. The man wasn't done speaking yet. Damn. she thought as she slowly lowered herself down into her seat.

When they were dismissed, Jocelynn practically raced to the cafeteria. She was there almost before anyone else had reached the buffet tables. Only a few others were around, but they were already sitting down.

Now, allow me to tell you that this girl can pack on a lot of food and then quickly work it off. But when I say, "a lot of food" I really do mean, a lot of food. She had two plates, each stacked up with foods from each buffet table, and she would definitely go back for seconds or maybe even thirds.

By the time she had sat down, she was already munching down on a finger food from some unknown country across from someone she sorta knew. She grinned some at the girl across the table that she knew as Emelie.

"'Ello, Emy!" she said in a sing-songy voice, in between bites. She really didn't have very good table manners, but she was getting better. Her whole chin at this point was covered with sauce from some amazing tasting chicken and her fingers were coated in quite a few things that she didn't know much about.

    Kane
Kane's bright eyes pierced the crowd as he picked though the faces, recognizing some and just noticing others. There were quite a few people that he knew... Well, very well and even more that he didn't even talk to before. He really didn't care though, knowing that he'd make his way over to them in time.

Like Jocelynn, he didn't pay attention to the speech, but more so the Freshmen. They all seemed so... delicate and interesting. A smile was spread across his lips as the thought crossed his mind. He loved to get to know people... To figure out their thoughts and how they worked.

By the time the ever-lasting talk was done, he walked into the cafeteria, greeting those he knew and hugging some others that actually knew him. Every once in a while, a joke was shared and he laughed, and even more so, they asked about his summer. He simply shrugged off the question and directed it away from where it was originally heading, only to end up listening to a description of a place where he'd never go.

All he did this summer was sit around in his dorm. Taking pictures, reading and the such. He wasn't allowed to go get a job and seldom did he really actually care to go out to the coffee shop right across the way. Walking was not something that he enjoyed.

By the time he was able to sit down, he still didn't have any food. He was so busy, caught up in conversation anyway to even really care. He liked being able to catch up with his old friends, but then his stomach growled furiously, reminding him to feed the monster that resided inside. He smiled and offered a short, "See you all later." before standing up and going over to buffet tables.

After grabbing a few things, he found himself without a place to sit. He found someone he knew rather well- Lucas. He grinned like an idiot and walked over, realizing that he was talking to a lovely looking young lady.

"Well! It seems as if our baby Luke has found himself someone to talk to!" he said in a teasing tone. He looked over to the brunette and smiled a sincere welcoming smile. "Pardon me, but may I sit here?"

Skyla was so over it. She had heard the headmaster’s speech three too many times before this one. Okay, maybe the first time it was interesting or maybe enlightening, but only for the first few lines. Past that it was boring. Now she just wanted to get his booming voice to shut-up. It was way too loud for that time of morning. She was still used to sleeping in late from the summer and she was still a little drunk from the night before. Or maybe hung over. She wasn’t quite sure. All she knew was that she wanted to get some food into her.

After what felt like a century of fidgeting, it was over. She turned to her step-mother Lucile and gave her a smile, complete with an eye-roll. “Lucy! I will miss you sooo much whilst I am away!” she cried, seething with sarcasm, raising her arms mockingly as if to hug the woman. Their relationship had never been good, but after her time at Velubian, Sky had become downright hostile towards her, and vice versa. It didn’t help that Sky stood to inherit her father’s company from Lucile’s hands when she graduated.

“Skyla! Have you been drinking again?” Lucile snapped at the girl. Sky only called her ‘Lucy’ after drinking. Sky just said “Vaarwel” in Lucile’s direction, one last jibe to the woman. She hated when Sky spoke Dutch. She sauntered towards the cafeteria, giving half a wave good-bye behind her back.

Sky went straight towards the cafeteria; there was no need to go to her room. She had arrived the previous day and put all her things in her room. She grabbed a plate of food full of her favorite things that the cafeteria offered, not that she actually ate there much. She usually went to the Village to eat, but there were a few things she would eat there.

After getting her food, she went to her table. Well the table that was "reserved" for the princes and princesses of the school. She hated the name, but whatever. It was what it was. No one else was there at the moment, not that it really mattered. Sky wasn't in a talking mood. Not that she usually was anyways. She just sat there, staring off into the distance, lost in her head.

Em glanced up to see who had—once, again—interrupted her during her meals. She was not surprised to see Jocelynn, because frankly, the two council members were the only ones who ever talked to her. She mumbled a reply, finishing off the last chunk of her lasagna—she eats a lot, but oh, so slowly—and started towards her grilled sirloin steak.

"The President was looking for you earlier," she said, nodding to the table where Luke had comfortably settled himself at. She can't believe he actually went there. Well, guess she was at fault too. She should have known better than to use any sort of sarcasm when dealing with him.

Looking at Jocelynn now, devouring a chicken twice the size of her own hand, Em realized how similar those two were. In sense of both character and abilities. The both of them, although they don't look it—to which, by the way, she'll never admit even if you're going to threaten her life with a loaded Glock—there are times that she's secretly amazed at their competence in performing their work. Although, on the odd occasions they both decided to start acting like brainless apes, Em was the one who had to scrape her knee to pick up the slack. Still, they were a great team despite initial complications—which FYI, Em had absolutely nothing to do with—as they clicked and pieced together well to form the Student Council.

"Which reminds me," she said out of the blue, her eyes trained on her steak, carefully cutting them into small pieces—did she mention that the meat here cuts like butter?—before placing a chunk into her mouth. Her taste bud danced at the rich flavor as the meat melted on her tongue. She savored the taste for a moment before continuing where she had left off. "Have you finished the reports on the Freshman for this year?"

"Kenny!" Luke exclaimed loudly, absolutely ecstatic to see his friend. "Come, come! Sit here!" he said, patting the empty chair beside himself excitedly, almost hopping in his own seat before the unfamiliar girl even gave her consent. His eyes brightened as they scanned the food that Kane had brought with him from the buffet. "Is that for me? Aww, you shouldn't have."

One basic thing almost everyone knows about Luke is that he doesn't get his own food. So it's either he would mooch off someone else's—which is what he would do most of the time, thus, creating his infamous cadging legend—or he doesn't eat, period. His parents would preorder everything for him whenever they eat out and on days when he'd head down to the Cafeteria alone, he'd only end up taking the corner towards the Gym and shoot some hoops.

Luke held out both his hands expectantly and looked up to Kane with bright hopeful eyes. "I'll promise to get the Principal's permission for that column you asked for last year."

    Jocelynn
At the very thought of Freshmen reports, the young woman shivered. She leaned back and slid her plate closer to her, as if drawing herself inward. Yes, she had gotten them done. And it took her way too much time to actually get them done.

"Yeah. Trust me. They're done." she said with a cringing look on her face. She absolutely hated hard work, but there were sometimes that student council actually made her use her mind, unlike most of the classes here. "Should I bring them to Prez or you later today?" The question came out of her mouth as she was chewing on a piece of pork, its ohmaigoodness deliciousness making her mind just melt.

A sigh left her lips as the meat was finished off, but there was still quite a bit left on her plates. Some roll of some sort called foe her attention, and she started to chew on it quietly.

"So, is it still just the three of us, or are we doing elections this year for newbies?" she asked, wondering if her position as Treasurer was secure.

    Kane
"Well, its not like I'm going to eat it all anyway." Kane said with a chuckle. He glanced over at the girl before taking a seat in the place where Luke patted. When the black haired young man brought up the column, his eyes went wide and he looked over at him.

"What? Really?" A full on grin took its place on Kane's face. "You mean that art page in the yearbook right? I believe I'm in charge of the fine arts pages this year, but if someone else doesn't join, its just going to be me and the photography teachers covering everything this year." he said shrugging lightly. He looked back over at his food and grabbed a bite of something before passing the plate off to Luke.

"Unless you mean the photography column in the school newsletter." he said with a grin. "Then, by all means, take the whole plate."

Romey had already down one of her pizzas when a blacked haired boy jumped over to the table. A smile instantly grew over her face. Suddenly this boy wasn't there and now he was! He introduced himself as Luke and that he was the Student council president! The student council president was sitting infront of her! Wait. What was a Student council president? Was that as important as The President? That guy she heard mother occasionally watch on the TV? She didn't know. She would have to ask. But before she could introduce herself and ask ANOTHER boy walked over and asked if he could sit!

Romey's smile only grew bigger! She loved making friends and they just suddenly came right to her! "Of course you can!" She said, "My name is Romey! ...Obviously you can tell I'm a Freshman!" She had forgotten about her food in the hype of making new friends. "I've done a lot of research on school... But, I'm afraid I don't know what a 'Student Council President'." She looked over at the... calmer boy and smiled at him. "Is your name Kenny?" She asked. He hadn't introduced himself but... Luke, was it, had yelled a name excitedly when he walked over. So, it was only natural that she would guess it was his name.

The subject suddenly turned to something Romey didn't quiet understand. Coulumns and the head master... and photography... and Fine arts... and- Wait. Did they say fine arts? She was good at fine arts! She was FINE at fine arts! "Did you say fine arts? I'm an artist! Or well... I like to think I'm an artist! My mom says I'm pretty good... Which is unusual because she doesn't usually say anything about me! It's all about herself... I don't really understand that but-" She took a breath and stopped herself from rambling. A habit she often fell under. She gave a bit of a nervous giggle before calming herself, "I like art..."

It was safe to say, Miss Shaelyn King did not attend this years welcoming ceremony - and would likely not attend it in the forthcoming years. She heard it once, last year, and that was more than enough. Instead, she was inside the Cafeteria already, silently berating Mr. Lobele for once again putting an array of cooked and uncooked fish on the menu. She wasn't saying a word, but the way she wagged her finger at him and banged the back of her hand on the metal tray that held the food was more than enough to understand her reoccurring argument. It was a good thing Lobele didn't mind Shaelyn, or he would have sent her to speak with Headmaster Walton already.

"There are other students here beside you Shaelyn, if you don't like it - don't look at it!"
He shooed her away with his oven mitted hands, attempting to get her to stop causing a fuss when students would be soon entering.

Reluctantly, she gave up - walking down the line, her tray in one hand and her pinched nose in the other. She loved her finned friends, and to see them served belly up infuriated her, but there wasn't much she could do - at least they weren't taking the fish from the school's little aquarium.

Before anyone else had even got into the cafeteria, Shae had already filled up her tray. One cup of cherry cola, one bowl of fruit salad and a grilled veggie sandwich - Oh, and a square of carrot cake for dessert.

Thinking over a place to sit, she suddenly noticed a few familiar faces coming in. A sudden urge to stir up some fun came to mind - her eyes darting around for a good idea. In no time she saw a perfectly placed ladder leaning against one of the horizontal beams toward the ceiling. The ladder must have been used to hang the "Welcome!" banner across said beam, but right now it was a perfect way up to perhaps the best spot the cafeteria had to offer.

Without hesitation, she quickly scaled the ladder, balancing her tray on the beam before sitting atop it herself. She pulled her legs up and hid herself best she could until she saw Emilie and her fellow Student Council cronies take a seat at a table directly below her.

Hello there, Miss Emilie. Nice to see you again.

A wide - Cheshire cat like grin spread across her face as she gazed down at her unsuspecting prey. Her hand cautiously reached over to grab a grape from her fruit salad, her hand now dangling directly over Emilie's head... targeting, waiting, until finally... she let the small purple grape drop from her slender fingertips.

    Bulls-eye.

The grape fell through the air until bouncing directly off the top of her well kept hair. A hand quickly clasped over her mouth as she muffled her laugh, her hand now waving down at those below. It was more than amusing that a girl with such long, noticeably red hair would go unnoticed.

Ellison Reid was not at the welcoming ceremony.

Instead, the school's favorite redhead was dead asleep on the school roof. A playful breeze wove into and around his short hair, bending the soft locks wherever and however it pleased. But Ellison wasn't bothered by it.

But, then again, Ellison was bothered by very few things in life.

Rolling over onto his side, the eighteen-year-old model (or would he be more appropriately called "ex-model?"), let out a heavy sigh, his dream turned troubling.

His eyebrows, which were expertly shaped, knitted themselves with worry as his lips, a soft shade of healthy peach, curved into a frown. Even in sleep (and twisted with nightmare), Ellison was picture-perfect, camera-loved, and stunning. He had high cheekbones, full-lips, and a strong jaw-line that gave no confusion to his gender.

Although his taste in partners might turn some heads.

Recently (earlier this month), Ellison Reid, the rising star of his father's agency, had been sharply reprimanded, his actions costing the company several million dollars. Fortunately, his father, a business savvy man and a clever person, managed to sweep everything under the rug, away from the press, and locked into the deepest recesses of oblivion. Nothing had been leaked, but that didn't mean Ellison Reid was safe.

In fact, that deal had gotten the redhead kicked from his career (on hold, according to the press) and punished by his father. Life had never been more unbearable.

He turned again, this time back onto his back. His brows were still furrowed and his face was contorted. But then a pair of startling amber-eyes opened, the whites around the colors appearing brighter. With his hand over his heart and his breathing labored, Ellison, slowly, surveyed his surroundings.

There was nothing, but empty space, the sky, and his undisturbed existence. He was where he had gotten to in the morning and he was still alone. There were no angered managers, no fathers to yell at him, and no creepy things hanging behind doors.

Slowly getting to his feet (and stretching out his tired, sleep-aching limbs), Ellison decided that it was about time to go find his friends. It had been a while since he's seen any of them, but, well, first day of school and everything.

Smoothing down the front of his shirt and the back of his pants, the redhead made his way down, figuring the cafeteria was a good place to start. It wasn't as if they would actually be in their rooms or anything.

As he made his way through the hallways and the courtyards, guys nodded to him, girls waved to him, and some just stared. This happened fairly often and, well, while the attention was nice in the beginning, it was a little dull now. Eventually, even stardom can get boring.

Yawning loudly, the redhead strolled through the cafeteria doors, ignoring the giggling girls at his side. For starters, they weren't pretty and one of them had a terrible nose job.

But if he thought he was going to run into any of the other "Princes," he was sorely mistaken. Evidently, nobody else had gotten here and he, Ellison Reid, was first. Weird. Ellison Reid, who was never on time to anything (if he did, indeed, bother to show up), was the first of the Princes to arrive.

Shrugging, the redhead made a beeline for the tables, taking the seat across from Skyla.

"Hey, how was your summer break? Catch a lot of honey?" He yawned again, his eyes lidded with half-interest and held none of the excitement his words should have contained.

    What. The. Hell.

Em crouched down to pick up a fruit which had rolled under her feet that had only seconds earlier assaulted her head. "Why are there grapes raining down from the ceiling?" she scowled, directing her rhetorical question to no one in particular. Feeling a sudden presence hovering above her which she had failed to noticed earlier, Em lifted her gaze upwards only to find the glint of flaming red hair.

You've got to be kidding me.

She stared at the girl with a flat expression. "Really, Shaelyn?"

When the girl entered the dorms for the first time last year, Em was silently glad how quiet her new roommate was. But, her small feeling of security dissolved like dry ice when she found out about the girl's mischievous childish acts. Not to mention the red head's odd trinkets that would sometimes lie around innocently on the floor of their living room or on the counter beside the sink in the kitchenette, never failing to trip Em—too preoccupied with a paperback—in the process.

She returned to her seat and muttered under her breath, "Don't waste food." Dipping her beef in a spill of barbecue sauce on a floral patterned saucer, she returned her attention to Jocelynn. "Hand it to Luke. He said he wanted to get to know the new students one by one," she said, the tone of disbelief thick in her voice. "There'll probably be new members but we won't mess up the hierarchy. From what I see, most of the Freshman I've seen so far look like hippies and the Seniors," she trailed off as her eyes flicked to one of the long tables set up in the middle of the cafeteria—or some may call it, "The Table of Royalty". Surprisingly, there were only two occupant filling in the otherwise empty seats instead of their usual large crowd. Her eyes fell on the long black hair that had fallen loosely over white porcelain skin as a soft blush slowly warmed her cheek. Em turned her gaze away and finished her hanging comment. "None of the Seniors could be depended on, anyway."

Sky tried to focus on the clouds out the window to find shapes like she had done as a child. Then it was out of boredom and longing to leave her home. Now it was to avoid eye contact with the majority of the people in the cafeteria. Most of them gawked at her sitting at the table, it was really only occupied at the beginning of the year. The rest it was vacant. Looking around the room she could see why they never ate there, the class president was annoying enough without him talking loudly enough for the whole room to hear him.

She tried to focus on eating, which came clumsily, not really focusing on the whole fork to mouth concept. She failed most of the time, usually getting an empty fork entering her mouth. Then she got the scent of apple. It had to of been the pie Mr. Lobele gave her. She crinkled her nose and pushed the whole tray away. Even if she wasn’t allergic to them, she hated their smell. It was her stepmother’s favorite.

Then the amount of irritatingly annoying giggling increased in the room. That could only mean one thing. Well, actually one of several. One of the “Princes” had finally came into the cafeteria. It didn’t take long to find out which either, Ellison’s hair stood out.

“You’re late, Ellison,” she told him, swinging her long raven colored hair out of her face. That was to be expected, he was never on time, but none of the others had showed up yet.

“Summer was boring,” she sighed. “There’s nothing to do there. My stepmother gets annoyed when I flirt with her boy-toy of the week and grounds me. Then I sneak out and if I get caught she grounds me again. So repetitive. What about yours? Have some fun?”
