Bridget: uh,t-thank you *deciding not to push the matter any further, she takes her food and begins eating*
(~~~~~TIME SKIP~~~~~)
"The war." He answers. He doesn't say anymore, being cut off anyhow by the waiter returning with their food. James thanks him and starts to eat his food.
Bridget: *she blinks, looking a bit worried* hmm...you sure? you started drinking faster. and i learned from watching my uncle that if someone starts drinking faster then either somethings wrong,or their stressed. *she raises an eye brow and smiles a little bit* so,whats wrong?
He doesn't respond at first. He's is lost in his thoughts for a what seems like a long time before he comes back to reality. He blinks a couple of times and looks over at her. "I'm fine." He lies. "I was simply thinking." He picks up his scotch again, this time drinking down the alcohol almost desperately.
Bridget: ..hey,are you alright? *she looks over at him,and tilts her head as she asks the question*
"Oh." He says simply. He takes a sip of his scotch, his face goes blank and he seems far away. Fearful of what may happen to him through the course of this war. Something deep in his gut tells him it wont be a good outcome for him.
Bridget: oh,i..im not sure. *she shrugs* honestly,i didn't expect to be here..b-but hey, im sure i'll figure something out. *she laughs slightly and then takes a small sip of her tea, trying not to seem to strange*
"Right..." James gives her a funny look. "So, what do you plan on doing now that war has been declared?"
bridget: *she sighs and mutters under her breath, looking slightly embarrassed* oh..dang. i should have know they wouldn't have any...i really need to brush up on my history once i get back home..in case this kind of thing happens again.. *she smiles awkwardly* erm, sorry about that...i-i guess i was remembering some..FOREIGN food.
"Ham whats?" James looks at her with a completely baffled expression. The waiter seems rather impatient, so James covers for her. "Um... waiter, how about some Brunswick Stew.... with ham instead, for the lady." The waiter nods and gives a small smile before scampering off again.
"It is." He says passively, "I've got this horrible feeling that this war will be the worst the world has ever seen. I highly doubt that we will be home by Christmas, despite the King's so called 'promise.'" Their drinks arrive and the waiter asks what they'll have to eat. James replies, "Bread pudding for me. For you Bridget?"
Bridget: o-oh...*she looks down at the table, looking a bit sad.* war is truly a horrible thing, isn't it? human beings killing each other and all..*she looks up and tries to smile* well,i wish you good luck when you do go to battle.
"I am in the military yes... but I wouldn't know. I've never been in battle before. Never even heard a shot fired in anger." He lets out a quiet laugh, it's a nervous laugh on the verge of being sad. "But, now with the war, that will soon change."
Bridget: oh,you're in the military? *she imagines for a moment, how brutal war is in her time. but soon, she shakes the thought away* ..i-isn't that scary? i mean..you have to fight against other people that could hurt you or.. *the word "kill" get's stuck in her throat. death was something humans had been trying to stop for years, but with no results. the idea if such a nice person getting killed in battle saddened her*
"I see... well, I wont pry and ask which part you hail from." He pauses for a moment, "I personally am originally from Dartmoor, before joining the military in Somerset. Now I'm here in the heart of London, enjoying the city while I've got the chance."
Bridget: well....i am KINDA from London.. *awkward smile* but i guess you could say...different tim-er,PART,of London *she decides to change the fact she from a different time, because it would only further confuse james,or any one else that would be listening. besides,no one seems to believe her anyway.*
"You're welcome." He takes the seat across from her and beckons the waiter over. "Some hot tea for the lady please, and a scotch for me." The waiter nods and goes on his way. James turns back to Bridget. "So, where are you from? Not from London I take it..."
Bridget: *she smiles and takes a seat* thank you, james ^^ * 'james is much nicer then most people from where im from. maybe being stuck here for a wile wont be so bad. i just wish i remembered more from history class...oh well' she thinks to her self as she looks around the cafe*
"Interesting..." Of course, that's code for, 'yay! She's not tied down! I've got a shot!' he doesn't say that of course, but he's thinking it. They reach the cafe and he escorts her to a table, pulling out a chair for her. "For you Miss Bridget."
