Personality
Despite her bad girl attitude she tries to keep up, underneath it all Sun is a very timid, very self-conscious girl.  Most people don't get to know her that far, however, and she's built up a slightly bad reputation for herself over the two years she's been out of her mother's grasp.  Some few her as fake for doing it, but being her view of "sexy" and "confident" is her defense mechanism for dealing with the stress of her mother's mental abuse.

Sun is not quick to trust because of her facade.  The people she attracts are not the kind she does not necessarily like; therefore she is lonely most of the days.  Most of the time, she doesn't mind, but some days it becomes too much for her and she gets depressed.

The real Sun is very quiet and doesn't like to bother people with what's on her mind or her problems.  A lot of the time, she is very self-conscious about herself, inside and out, and is always putting herself down because of it.  It's habitual for her to be this way.

History
Childhood:
Before Sun-Jung had even been born, her father had left her mother to have and raise a small baby with the help of only her grandmother.  Sun had been expected to be a boy, so it was a large surprise that Sun had come to be a girl.  In Korea, girls are almost never accepted fully into the family, and thus began the subtle abuse.

They lived in a fairly nice house.  It was small, made for two people and it fit three.  The neighborhood was friendly enough, and Sun had a few friends.  There was hardly any crime, as it was just a small town that only held about five thousand people, so it was safe as well.  One would think that a child could grow up peacefully in a place such as that, but it was not that way for Sun-Jung.

Her mother emotionally abused her everyday, with name-calling and snobby comments about the way Sun looked, dressed, spoke, and when she went into school, how her grades were.  Her mother could barely stand to look at her, much less interact with her, so her grandmother had to do most of the cooking and teaching for Sun.  Though her grandmother was a huge help in her childhood, she did not once tell Sun that what her mother said was not true: was wrong.  The girl grew up thinking herself lowly and she passed the days waiting to graduate and move out, which she did at seventeen.

The Rest:
When Sun was finally out of the house, she let loose and developed her bad girl facade.  Instead of going to college, she partied day and night, getting drunk underage and coming close to loosing her virginity a time or two.  Never once did she contact her mother or grandmother, nor did she visit.  She rented a small, dingy apartment with her low-paying accountant job, and she adopted a small Bombay cat she named "Orleans," who is the only one that keeps her company through her days.
