History
Matthew is the fifth child  in the large Sullivan family. He was raised in a fairly strict Catholic household, but this didn't bother him. He naturally gravitated toward the Church. He was raised along with his eight brothers and sisters by his father- who was a plumber and his mother who was a housewife in the city of Seattle. While they weren't rich, they did well enough. His mother, a firm believer in education, made sure all of the children went to school through high school.

He was in seminary school when Pearl Habor was bombed. He and three of his brothers all enlisted the next day. Because he was a seminary student, he was moved into the ranks of the Chaplains.

Eventually, Matthew was sent to the Pacific Theater. He was assigned to a small squad that did recon before being transferred to a mobile hospital unit. He has killed in the name of the US Army to save his brothers in arms. His unit was ambushed by a few Japanese soldiers just outside of Lingayen in the Philippines. He saw several people in his unit die that day, some of them before he could say prayers for them. He shot a charging soldier who was trying to finish off an injured man. For his effort, he was hit with shrapnel from a grenade, earning a Bronze Star for saving the injured man and the Purple Heart in the same day.

After this, he was transferred to the mobile army hospital until the end of the war. He stayed in the Army and finished his seminary becoming a full Catholic Priest, serving as chaplain once again during the Korean Conflict.
