Cas Seingalt

Cas is notorious among humans for her vain, vicious personality. Most of the ship's men learned years ago to watch their step around the touchy young elf, whose inhuman reflexes are only too happy to help her send a crewmate to the infirmary. Since the Ardent's near-destruction, she has calmed down by far, and is even seen to laugh once in a while. Still as aloof as she was before taking on her new position, she is nevertheless clearly determined to help the captain get the job done this time. It is no secret that she is fiercely loyal to the captain, though it's anyone's guess as to why. Among her own kind, she is ridiculed for her 'soft touch' and willingness to associate with humans. Worse, she is reviled by her kind for some past action.

Cas bristles with weaponry: a high quality rifle, two fairly good pistols, a blade, and somewhere in that mess of fancy dress she hides several daggers. She keeps her brassiere, yes, stocked with three potent poisons capable of stunning a victim. She should be better at seduction than she is, but she's terrible at hiding her disgust.

The assassin showed up a few years ago while the Ardent was docked in Cann, terribly wounded by numerous arrows embedded deep in her leg and side. Fleeing unknown assailants, she tried to hide in the Ardent but only passed out in front of it. The captain and doctor took her in, and she was carefully bandaged up. It wasn't long before her clear skill with blade and boomstick impressed the captain and earned her a spot on the ship. She still doesn't seem to be able to explain why she stays.

During the Ardent's failed attempt to recover the Shift Particle, Cas was attacked by an elven woman claiming to be her mother come to execute her for some terrible crime. Cas was scarred in the attack (a humbling experience which she has never recovered from) and unable to defend herself from the better fighter, was saved by Fort putting a bullet in the woman. After the crew left Kerria in tatters, Cas has seemed all too determined to return, though it seems for reasons other than loyalty or a desire to get the job done. She has spent much of the ship's downtime taking on other jobs to help fund the Ardent's repair. Something she can't understand draws her back...

A few tidbits about Cas.

• She once showed up with a mighty nice, small blonde wig. She lost it in the chaos of Belo's kidnapping and has since been looking for another. It's rumored she obtained it in less than saintly methods.
• Cas never, ever, ever gets drunk.
• She once flashed a crewmember, immediately after her mother's death and in apparent grief--or something. The young man has since had his tongue mysteriously cut out after telling everyone about it.
• Cas was once caught kissing a pilot after knocking him out. She refuses to admit this ever happened.
• Due to the personality modification of all elves, she hates Innates and dislikes Kerrians in general.
