Liánhuā

"This place is not as kind as my swamp. I do not know it half as well as I should like and I like it half as well as I should, but I am determined to make my fathers proud."

Liánhuā stands at five foot four inches, well muscled with golden amber eyes and sun kissed brown skin that is littered with pale turquoise tattoos that spread over her cheeks, chest, arms, legs and torso. When she first arrives in Ba Sing Se she is wearing an olive green halter top and matching loin cloth with a navy blue scarf emblazoned with a white lotus that hangs between her legs in both the back and the front. Soon she notices that her clothing, or lack thereof for that matter, is causing some unwanted attention so she stops in at small shop and buys a pair of baggy sea-foam green harem pants and a jade green wrap top which she changes into rather shortly after purchasing them. She uses her scarf as a belt and winds up the halter top to tie up her wildly thick, coal black hair at its ends keeping the loin cloth on under the pants. She does not wear shoes as she does not see the reason for them, rather she does wear sock like things made from woven vines that go over her ankle and leave her toes and heel exposed; she has arm guards made from matching material.

While she is mature for her age, she is naive in the ways of the world outside of her swamp; however she is a fast learner. Quite curious of the things around her this does not fail to get her into trouble at times and she can be confused easily by this fact. It does not do well to underestimate her intelligence though, Liánhuā is rather smart and is an accomplished Water/Swamp Bender. Generally she has a joyful, optimistic, demeanor, however, she has hot blood running through her veins and can be reckless with her actions given certain situations.

Swaddled in a blue scarf with a white lotus branded on it, she was abandoned in the swamp as an infant and found by Edih and his husband Poshi. Edih, being a survivor of the Fire Nation's siege on the Southern Water Tribe, and Poshi, a Swamp Bending master who previously traveled with an Earth Kingdom circus. They named their daughter Zhǎozé de Liánhuā meaning 'Lotus of the Swamp', they have no idea why she was left there but they wouldn't have it any other way. As she grew they taught her everything they knew, building a smart, courageous, young Swamp Bender; the only thing they refrained from telling her was anything in regards to the war leaving her as clueless as someone who was asleep for a hundred years perhaps. Both Edih and Poshi knew of the world outside of their swamp and took it upon themselves that Liánhuā would know too, so on her nineteenth birthday they presented her with a stock of gold pieces they had saved up and passage on a caravan that would take her to the beautiful city of Ba Sing Se. It seems however, the more time she spends in the city, the more she begins to wonder about her true parentage, passersby will glare at her and whisper to each other about 'Fire Nation Scum' then turn away if she offers them a smile. She wants to make her fathers proud and come back with a story to tell, but she might need to find out where she really came from first.
