At 5'5 and looking like she'd break if you so much as breath on her too hard, Aria is about the least intimidating person you could imagine. Red locks of hair fall somewhere between waves and curls to just below her shoulders and braided back out the large, round blue eyes that dominate her face. The rest of her features are as soft as the rest of her, with a button nose and small but full lips that only serve to accentuate the almost pouty frown she gets when she's upset, or just trying to get her way. Her features are also marked by constellations of freckles running her entire face, down her neck and shoulders, all the way down to marking her arms and legs. This, matched with the gentle curves of her body,  leads to many thinking she's younger than she actually is.


Personality
Aria is, first and foremost, painfully shy. She frequently chooses to be completely silent in front of people she doesn't know well, and if she does decide to speak up, she's almost certainly stuttering. At first glance, the girl seems to be an open book emotionally, easily displaying what she feels. However, she's been hiding her whole life, and her emotions are really no different: if it doesn't serve to help her, she's got a tendency to hide any and all negative emotion until she reaches her breaking point. While the girl has severe trust issues, she cares for people easily, and is self-sacrificing to the point of near suicide, which leads to her putting herself at risk in order to help people out even though she assumes they wouldn't bother to do half so much for her. Additionally, she keeps most people at a distance, as if they're gonna stab you in the back eventually, what's the point in letting them in to make the damage worse? All in all, Ari's closed off, though not many realize it, and those who do often try to push her on it, although really that's not a good idea; after all, you don't want her to start crying.

History
Aria was raised by her Aunt Cass and Aunt Rachel after at age 10 her alcoholic and abusive father was deemed unfit to be a parent, her mother having long been out of the picture. It was only after she moved from New York City to her aunts' home that they discovered that Aria wasn't exactly normal: she had the ability to create and manipulate light. They made her promise not to share this with anyone, as people weren't exactly friendly to those who were born with gifts like hers, and up until age 17 she kept this promise. Unfortunately, in a bullying incident, she panicked and her magic took that moment to activate, and she nearly blinded the boy permanently. Her secret was out, and she was shortly expelled, and forcibly taken from her aunts' home to a boarding school exclusively for people with magic.
