Biography:
Born
into the life of a noble, Jaelyn had a fairly comfortable upbringing.
His mother and father were always around, he rarely had to do much for
himself and he had the best of everything. But unlike most other nobles
he wouldn't grow into the sense of utter entitlement as much as his
friends and peers. This was because of the gentle nature of his mother,
thanks to her he would learn that everything had value whether they
were born into a place of privilege or not.
So much unlike his
peers he was rarely ever cruel to those of lower class, and even if he
wasn't one to offer a helping hand to a commoner he never hindered them
because he knew without them he would not have his comfortable life.
They were skilled and valuable people as well. Sometimes this would get
him mocked by his friends, but Jaelyn would never change his views on
others because his mother's sweet nature always got through to him
better then the jibes of his fellows.
Growing up he would be
trained and tutored in many subjects, learning music even though he
never really took much interest in it, he was still a good student. In
fact when it came to writing of prose and the like he would show
interest and an aptitude for touching other's hearts.
Of course
his father would see that Jaelyn was also trained in other things then
the arts and scholarly subjects, as he would learn how to sword fight,
how to shoot a bow with great accuracy and even to hunt, etc. Not
overly inclined to violence he wasn't exceptional at these but he was
able to boast fair skill in contests that did not involve killing or
harming living things.
So for the first couple decades of his
life would be lived well off, getting along well enough with his peers, a
loving family and a comfortable life. He would even climb the ranks
within the royal court quickly. By the time he was 30, Jaelyn was
within the inner circle of the royal court and because of his close
relation to the king they were fairly good friends. And he was in love,
or so he thought. He had met a lady in the court the year before and
they'd become close quite quickly, her enchanted by much about him
including his poetry, and he admiring her for what he thought was a
gentle and sweet nature. Jaelyn even intended on marrying his lady.
However
the events that would lead to the end of everything he'd ever known
would start sometime before his 31st birthday. As usual, courts and
politics, nobles and the like always had those amongst their own that
were not happy with their place and held ambitions. And one such would
be a relation of the King, since of course that would be the only way to
achieve the throne was by relation. A noble plotted and planned behind
the scenes, scheming for a day he'd kill the king and take his place
once he'd dealt with a few other relations between himself and the
throne.
As the culmination of plans started, the noble that
plotted from the shadows would hire a mercenary of particular skill.
One that was able to do his kills, get out and was hard to identify for
one reason. He was a werewolf. And having mastered his curse of
course, he could transform when he wished and controlled himself at all
times.
The day of the attack was the day Jaelyn's life crashed
down around him. When the king was attacked by the hired werewolf
mercenary, he would go above and beyond, throwing himself in the way in
between the king and his attacker. Ruining the plan and the werewolf
would take off after almost tearing through Jae. Although he would
almost die, he would pull through, being left with scars of the attack
he had prevented. And of course the one who had orchestrated the attack
would be enraged with Jae, and plotted revenge.
As an
investigation was done into the attack, the noble who had planned the
attack would accuse Jaelyn of hiring the mercenary, pointing out that
the fact he survived the attack proof of that. Saying that Jae had done
it in order to gain the kings trust even more so he could get closer to
him to the point he could betray the king and eventually take the
throne. Unfortunately there was not enough proof contrary to the
accusations, and while there wasn't enough proof of it being him either,
suspects were few and vague. So when it was discovered that the curse
of lycanthropy had been passed onto Jaelyn, he would promptly be exiled
from his home, disowned from his family and left to fend for himself.
Even
the woman that Jaelyn had thought loved him would turn her back on him.
It didn't matter whether or not the accusations were true, she would
do so only because he was now a werewolf and she had no intentions on
ever leaving her comfortable life. Not even for the man she claimed to
love...
So broken hearted and alone, Jaelyn started on his
lonely journey, unsure of what to do with himself. On one hand he
didn't want to now forever be alone, he also on the other hand was
frightened of bring harm upon others just because of what he now is.
Will fate continue to be cruel to him, or does he have at least some hope?
