My Name is Layla Kaitlyn Weise, and I am 17 years old.

Within the town of Sunnydale, I am seen as a Senior at Sunnydale High School, member of the Mystery Club, volunteer for various activities and groups as well as secretly a member of the Order, which is an important role within this story.

My heart leads me along the lines of life towards, men, which may come into play as things unfold.

Hidden magic lies beneath the surface of this life, taking the form of Summons.

There is something else you should know about me, I have natural silver eyes, the color of tungsten to be exact and chocolate brown hair.  I’m an outdoorsy person so my skin always has at least a light tan.  I also stand about 5’ 3”.

Personality

Personality:

Layla is your typical fun loving country girl.  She’s laidback, tends to not worry about things and likes to take her time when she can.  She’s the type to wear her heart on her sleeve and help out whenever possible, though that’s something that runs in the family.  She volunteers for any and all events that request help and even tries to help out others around town just because she’s able to.

She’s strong in body and strong in mind, a level headed person that people go to whenever they need someone to listen to their problems.  She’s independent and prideful; don’t think that her kindness and cheerfulness will let you walk all over her because she will and has no issue with standing up for herself or others being picked on.

Even for a sweetheart, Layla does have a bit of a hot streak if you know how to push her buttons just the right way.  Picking on a student and you won’t stop?  Layla will probably slug you one and for someone that works day in and day out on various farms, she doesn’t have a sissy punch.  Not to mention, she may have watched Hayden a time or two.

Being the fun loving sort, the brunette can also be reckless as she acts before she thinks more times than she cares to admit.  She’s the type to never back down on a dare and tries to act fearless, even when she’s not.  Need to go on some crazy adventure?  Just ask Layla, she’d be more than happy to go.

Some would say that she has a knack of just knowing where she is at all times, never getting lost.  That isn’t necessarily the case though because Pumpkin is usually always nearby.  The creature will sit in various trees outside the school, closest to the room Layla would be in and is typically always with her outside of school.  Some have made comment that they do not understand how a girl, still in high school could have won such a strong loyal bond to such a bird, but they don’t know the truth behind him.

Equipment / Abilities

Magic Abilities:

With the history of the town and the Order, the powers that the Weise family have may seem a bit strange.  The Weise family are summoners, though they don’t summon creatures from this world.  Rather, they may pact with demons that do not hold any ill will against the Order.  When a new member of the Weise family is born, a demonic egg hatches as well and that creature becomes the life creature for that member.

As they grow older, Weise members are allowed, able and encouraged to make additional pacts with other creatures whether already having a pact with other family members or those that are willing to come to Earth to serve them.  Those that make pacts with the family remain on Earth and under the command of the family, in exchange the family cares for these creatures and protects them from which would wish to do them harm.

Those with pacts must obey the family member(s) in which they hold pacts with.  To disobey a pact order is only tolerated if there is evidence that disobeying the pact was beneficial to the family member.  Only those creatures with pacts to a particular family member are required to obey them.  A creature that has a pact with one family member can refuse to create a pact with another family member; it is the choice of the creature.

When a pact is made, the family member creates a gemstone made of their pure power.  These stones are attached to decorative harnesses that the creatures wear.  They not only provide the final key to seal the contract between Weise and demon, but also cloaks the demons from unwanting eyes.  The stones cause the demons to look like creatures found on Earth; the creature they appear as is influenced by the location they live as well as the type of creature they are.

A summoner is able to summon a demon that has a pact with another family member against its will, however such a thing is very dangerous.  The creature does not have to obey the person that summoned it and is able to attack the summoner without recourse.

While the summoned creatures will fight on behalf of the summoner, they are still creatures that, while difficult to be killed, can be killed.  They have their own ability sets as well energy and stamina levels.  Though some would argue, these hellish creatures are still living things and cannot fight forever.  They do require rest after combat, the rest depending from creature to creature (their endurance) as well as just what they had to do.  If one is summoned so the summoner can “walk the family dog”, the rest needed is nowhere near as great as one summoned to fight another demon.

If a creature is killed, the stone(s) it was wear shatter and the summoner whom it had a pact with forever loses that part of their magic.  Summoners do not have unlimited magic, the magic level is unique to each and each one is able to form a pact with a different number of demons.  More magic is required to form a pact with more powerful demons.

Pacts can be mutually ended without any recourse to either party.  The stone is returned to the summoner whom is then able to reclaim their used magic while the demon is either able to return to Hell (if it was its only pact) or continue to serve the summoner(s) it still has a pact with.  There have been stories of demons continuing to serve summoners they no longer have a pact with, but as far as the living generations know, they are only bedtime stories to make young summoners more confident.

The Summoner’s “powers” are kept within a gemstone that matches the one’s their pact creatures have.  The stone is usually put into some form of jewelry and is required for the summoner to summon and control their pact beast.  Layla’s stone is inlaid within a silver ring she wears on her middle finger of her left hand.

Layla’s particular beast is the fearsome Wyvern, whom she named Pumpkin due to his colorings.  Pumpkin’s vibrant colors and elongated nose puts him in the Whalianoptryx family, one that has been known to be picked on by even the lesser demons of hell.  In his natural form and standing tall on his back legs, he currently stands about 6 ½ feet tall, once he has fully matured (which usually comes with the Order member coming of age), he will stand about 9 feet tall, which makes them the smallest of the Wyvern families.

Due to his species, Pumpkin’s Earthen creature form is that of an Osprey, a bird native to Pennsylvania.  Pumpkin’s stone is tungsten in color and is inlayed into a leg band typically found on domesticated birds.

History

Biography:

The Weise family, like many other families in town have lived in Sunnydale for generations and like a lot of those other families, they all seem to still live in the same house on the same property.  The Weise property is a large plantation-style house, that looks like it is much newer than it really is.  The house sits on about 150 acres of land, most of which is enclosed in fencing with various farm animals filling the pastures.  About 25 acres of their property dips back into the forest; they are the closest house to the creepy house in the woods and even then, they are still quite a ways away from it.

Their family had always been one of the strongest protectors of the house because the creatures they command left the sealed place of Hell in order to live a peaceful life away from attack and torture of the other Hellish kin.  With the fact that their creatures all appear as various farm animals, the monsters branching several generations of pacts, the Weise family is known to be the family to go to when you need help tending farms or you need farm animals for something else.

That was the family that Layla was born into.  Being born late one fall night, the brunette was entered into a very warmhearted family.  Her wyvern, Pumpkin, was always by her side.  There are very few notable instances in Layla’s life, it was usually calm and peaceful, full of helping people and being one with the Earth.  Though, there was that one time that Layla let Pumpkin out without her parents hiding his real appearance so the child and baby Wyvern ran around town together.  Fortunately, Order members played it off as the “latest in Halloween toys” since Halloween was just around the corner.

In school, she was an average student, grades being mostly Bs and Cs, but things such as science classes being As without so much as a sweat getting there.  Her parents were never one to worry about grades though, for they found the importance of her growing up was to one day understand the role she would take on, to know how to take care of the living creatures they were responsible for and to take care of the Life elements.

Layla’s mother is the one that usually stays home to tend to the farm as some of their stock requires more upkeep than the others.  Her father runs the local farming supply store in town that sits just beside the river; it’s a place to get all your farming as well as fish hatchery supplies.  The store also serves as a center for the town’s recycling program.

After school though, Layla and her father go to Aunt Madi’s place, their neighbor though it could be hard to tell with how far apart they were.  The Weise family helps Madi’s family farm out by not only bringing the animals needed to tend the fields, but by also volunteering their own work.

When Madi doesn’t need help and the other farmers seem content, Layla volunteers at any other event that needs help.  From time to time she gets to work with familiar faces and even will check in with them at school to let them know of other opportunities coming up.
