Synopsis
When hope is lost, mankind fails. I will prevent this.

Description

My name is R. Shepard Grey.  I am a twenty-seven year old heterosexual male from the Newfault Region of Veer of the north eastern frontier.  For the most part, I have spent my entire life here and it ails me to leave my homeland behind, but I do understand that I am needed elsewhere for it is my duty to protect the world from the titans that seek to destroy it.  As you have discovered, I stand six-feet two-inches tall and I am on the slender side of the body mass index.  Don't take my skinny physique as a since of fragility for I will warn you that I might look light and weak, but I actually weigh about two-hundred and some odd pounds and I'm fair more muscled than you think.

Regarding my attire, I am often found in my slim-fitting black and grey suit of leather, cloth, metal, and chain mail.  The suit is neither warm nor cold, which leaves me to fend for my own body temperature controls.  I always wear a helmet as I prefer to keep my face hidden.  Let's just say I have some scars I would prefer not to share with the world.  I fear they won't be ready to fully embrace my ugliness (he's rumored to have fading black hair and tired grey eyes).

Personality
When it comes to personality, it's hard to really discuss who Shepard is for he's often scouting the forest for titans with his small brigade of hunters. Those who are closest to him would say he's friendly and understanding, but in a way that would irk or annoy people.  You see, Shepard doesn't really give people a shoulder to cry on or give them emotional support.  He does, however, act and will give someone the advice they need to succeed and stand on their own two feet again.

He's a very logical man, often a bit detached from emotions.  As you can assume, those who don't fully know Shepard might see him as cold, heartless, and rude.  They will warn you that Shepard has no feelings and doesn't care about human life.  But the reality of it all is that he does.  He does care and he hates seeing people die.  He's learned to stop grieving over this for he knows tears won't bring back peace or vanquish the titans.  He uses his sorrow to foster up the strength, courage, and heart to press on.  Because of this, those who fight with him will say that Shepard is wise beyond his years.  His courageousness is one to applaud and his methods, although seemingly cold, are actually very practical.

Shepard isn't what you would call overly talkative, but he does converse with people during down time.  He enjoys listening and teaching above all else.  The rumored raven also likes reading and learning, often watching how people interact and behave.  He believes that if he can grasp humans, he might be able to learn how to read titans.

A final thing to note about Shepard is that is he is fully aware of his limits and weaknesses.  He knows when to stop and he will do as such.  To Shepard, it is better to not overdo it and let someone die.  As morbid and cruel as it sounds, he knows the fate of the world rests on his shoulders so if he did overdo it and got injured, the end would be unstoppable.  He understands his place in life and he will do all he can to ensure he succeeds.

Equipment / Abilities
Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I was given such a unique power.  I had no idea my lineage linked back to something so unique.  Most people are of the elemental kin, but apparently I'm linked to those magical folks known as illusionists.  I've been gifted with the ability to vanish before your very eyes.  Granted, this isn't a long thing.  I can poof for about fifteen seconds before reappearing.  I can't go invisible again for about thirty seconds.  Perks of invisibility are increased agility.  I can use this power often as I've been using it for the past year.  I've built up the stamina for extended use.

Aside from vanishing, I can create doppelgangers, three to be exact.  The neat part is, I can vanish while the shadow clones are out and distracting the enemy.  Being clones, they add no strength to my attacks; they merely distract and act as a decoy.

Off the topic of magical powers, I am extremely fast.  It's part of my occupation.  I've learned to run faster than most and I can endure this speed for a long time (about 10-miles).  I'm skilled with a blade, too.  My blade glows blue and, when an enemy is near, it flickers white.  I'm not sure why, but I like to think the heavens smile down at me as I try to defend mankind.  My friends like to tease me that I'm a ninja assassin due to my flexibility, speed, and ability to vanish with the shadows.

Seeing as I'm a scout and hunter, I know how to... wait for it... track and hunt.  Shocker, right?  What you didn't know is that I'm a clean freak and I can sew.  I'm also a bit of a tinker and mechanic; I can pretty much fix anything, even if it's just a make-shift, temporary fix.

Regarding what I carry, it's really only my sword.  I do have a few grenades and smoke bombs, too.  Okay, and a few guns -- a revolver and a sniper rifle.  The men in my brigade use jumping apparatus, but I've no need for that.  Remember, I'm a ninja.  I do wear a necklace that was given to me by a dear friend.  Since her passing, I haven't been able to remove it.

History
Born at the beginning of the tail-end of the titan attack from 28-years ago, Shepard missed the intense battles that waged on between man and titan.  Still, his youth was not left blind for he spent most of his time watching films and reading stories about the war that ended around the time of his birth.  Losing both his mother and father to a titan, Shepard was raised by a young mother and her boyfriend.  For the first few years of his life, he group up alongside a pretty little miss by the name of Annie Lynn Jenkins.  The two were practically siblings, save for the fact that Shepard was an orphan.  Even so, he believed Annie to be his sister and did everything with the petite brunette.  Their innocence was soon severed when Mr. Anchert (Annie's step-father) decided to send Shepard off to a military school.

Training under a squad of soldiers, Shepard soon proved his worth on the field and by the time he was ten, he was put on guard duty.  Guard duty wasn't taxing whatsoever; he merely served in a police-like role.  Finding it boring, he applied for the scouting legion upon his thirteen birthday.  Denied until the age of sixteen, he worked the streets and protected people from crime.  Finally, his time came and he advanced to the scouting platoon.  By the time he was twenty, Shepard was herding his own men on trips to seek out wandering titans.  He went from being just a scout to Captain Grey of the 113th Scouting Brigade.

Having much experience under his belt, Shepard knows just about every way to kill a titan.  Whether it be severing the spinal cord or burning the head of the fuckers, Shepard had assisted in over 74 kills and killed a total of 37 on his own.  He is the most capable of fighters and, because of this, he was asked to leave his homeland and journey to a larger city that was viciously plagued by the titans.  Upon his arrival, over half the titan population vanished due to his vigor on the field.  He was stationed at this city until he was twenty-six, as that's when tragedy struck back at home.

Losing Annie to the hands of a titan, he swore he wouldn't let something like this ever happen again.  Refusing to leave his home village behind, he fought with much prejudice for a few months.  Then, one day, he found himself trapped and alone.  It was to be his end.  After having a good run (89 assists and 52 kills), Shepard was ready to give in.  But the heavens had something else in mind.

Baffled as to why the titan didn't eat him, Shepard learned that he could vanish before foes.  Using his skill, he dropped the titan that should have killed him.  Swearing on his new powers to prevent the destruction of mankind, Shepard has trained for about nine months with his power of illusions.  He's done just such, until a few nights ago when he received a dream vision from the heavens.  Asked to partake on a quest of a lifetime, Shepard is now setting out toward a destination that is taunted by a God-like titan.  With his blade ready, he rides toward his destiny.

Extra

I have always been a fan of the wilderness.  I enjoy being outside and basking in the sun.  I also enjoy long walks and skipping rocks across the water.  Even since I was little, I've been able to whistle bird calls and understand how the birds feel.  I can sense when titans are approaching just by listening to their melodies.

Like everyone, there are some things I simply despise.  I have never been a fan of spiders and I don't do well around water.  To be honest, I am petrified of water.  I would rather walk three days than wade across a stream.  I also dislike the rain.  I do, however, love thunderstorms so long as I'm not getting rained on.

As an aside, I do enjoy singing.  I have been told my deep, rich voice is quite arousing when I sing.  There's something about my dark lullabies that makes people swoon, though I'm still not sure why.
