Synopsis
A tinker, an inventor, and self-taught engineer who is extremely socially awkward.
Description
Gidget stands a mere 4'10'', bright green eyes stare out from her
round face, topped with reddish-orange hair that's pulled into
high-pigtails. Bangs are held off her face by a pair of large, well-worn
goggles. A headband also helps hold the hair out of her face. The
lower half of her face is normally covered by a dark-brown leather mask,
dotted with grommet holes to breath through. When caught without it,
one would see a cute button nose, and soft pink lips. A usually grease-stained tank-top
exposes her flat midriff. The sleeves of a set of gray coveralls are
tied so that when folded over, she doesn't trip over them. If she's not
wearing coveralls, then overalls fashioned in much the same way serve as
her pants. Heavy boots seem almost too big for the small girl, but she
seems to manage just fine. Supple leather gloves protect her delicate
hands, and a heavy tool belt completes the look.
Personality
Personality wise, Gidget is nice enough. She just lacks that social
grace that most tend to have. She grew up somewhat sheltered and is
therefore, naieve. Never having had many friends, she doesn't understand
the point. Or it could just be that she's really very shy when it comes
to personal interaction. She's never dated, nor done any of the things
most women have by her age. Not that she doesn't want it, she's just
never found anyone who could be patient enough with her to allow such
things to happen. Despite all this, she's actually talkative to the
point of almost being forward once she gets comfortable. At least until it gets to a more personal
level. Her flirtation skills are non-existant and awkward at best.
Equipment / Abilities
Gidget was gifted with the ability to 'communicate' and
manipulate technology. Specifically, anything with a computing system.
However, she is able to gain better knowledge of the inner mechanical
workings of something without a computer installed. This latter skill is quite faulty, though.
While she can glean a general feeling (not specific knowledge)
by utilizing any part of her body, her hands are the most receptive.
Thus why she is constantly wearing gloves when not using her powers, lest she inadvertent connect with something.
When 'connected', her eyes glow, and she is barely able to move
while doing so. [In other words, she can't walk around while connected
to an item, but may slowly adjust her hands (as long as she does not
fully break the connection), or move her head/eyes/make expressions. But
it would be as though someone slowed down her time clock.]
Side note: When it comes to dealing with cybernetic parts on an individual, she may or may not have access to the person themselves via their cybernetic parts. This is based on player discretion.
Equipment:
Gloves
Mask
Goggles
A full tool belt
When at home, a full garage of tools and parts.
History
Gidget was born as Giselle Tinker, with the nickname given to her by her
adoring father. Growing up, she spent most of her time with him in his
basement workshop, helping him with his inventions. However, when she
entered her teenage years, she lost her father to pneumonia. She stopped
going to school, and finished with homeschooling from her mother. When
she turned 18, she kissed her mother good-bye, and set off to build her
own shop, where she could repair and invent things to her heart's
content.
At one point, she was commissioned to repair a supposed
time-machine, when the repair went awry and she ended up splicing
herself with her cat. She has since corrected this mistake thanks to the help of some Space Pirates that had kidnapped her to utilize her for repairs.
Since then, she's been recruited to be the Head Engineer on the Zephyr, thanks to her talents. She currently resides on Station 89X-Beta, waiting for the arrival of the ship.
