Synopsis
The Silent One

Description
Artemis is a young man, not yet an adult in his society, but barely two years away from such a title. He is short, dark of hair and eye, with a smile that comes as easily to his face as breathing. While not strongly built, he is a swift and dexterous fellow, light on his feet and slippery as a minnow.

Personality
This young noble has a gentle demeanor at the outset, but can be brash, headstrong, and vocal regarding his passions. While he endeavors to be patient and kind, he also lives by the mantra of "an eye for an eye", and has no problem being cruel to the cruel, wicked to the wicked, and criminal to the criminal.

His time among the Thorns, however, have whittled him down to little more than a silent, stalking fellow, anxious to be left alone by others. Kindness can no longer be shown, not much of it. Even the gentle folk could turn on him at any moment, and Artemis will never forget just how he got the long knife-scar tracing from his right shoulder, down his back and across his buttocks, and ending at the back of his left knee.

Deception is the only way to survive. Goodness is a mask; warmth is a lie.

Equipment / Abilities
While not physically strong, Artemis is swift and sure while hidden in the Hedge. Nimble fingers cause wicked traps, and as long as he feels safe in one place, he is content to set up a savage sort of headquarters. He prefers to sneak among the great heights of the coiling trees, using the vantage point for surprise's sake.

History
Once he was quite the golden boy, and the apple of his father's eye. Prince Artemis Losnedahl of Sor-Trondelag was a cunning youth, with a love of the hunt, and was filled with a desire to prove his masculine worth to his family, and to his people. Had the people cared more about their incipient king's abilities to track a fox, rather than their need for clean water and fresh food, it might have worked to stall the revolution brewing in every quarter of the kingdom.

Fleeing with Skarvan Voll, his teacher and confidant, the boy was brought up in hiding, his noble seeming and haughty manner taken from him as roughly as his riches and family. Known as the sullen son of the local school-teacher, Artemis wanted nothing to do with the rest of his new village, or the buck-toothed and pimply young maidens who stared at him so hungrily from the village well. He took to wandering in the local woods, but such wanderings led to mischief.

Artemis Voll still lives in the village. His cavalier ways captured the heart of one lovely Anya Malvik, and they are expecting their first child soon.

Artemis Voll lives deep in the Hedge. His cavalier ways have faded into darkness, and he is striving to work on his own.
