Cain Zhao

A mechanic and revolutionary.

5'8" with a wiry, toned build. His skin is darker than average and he wears his black hair short. His most striking feature is his heterochromic eyes; one is green, the other an icy blue. His default expression is a serious one. This intensifies to a look of complete absorption when he is tinkering with something. Smiles are rare. Usually seen with smears of motor oil on his face and a cigarette dangling from his lips.

Quiet, cynical, closed off. He has a hard shell which he doesn't let many people past. He prefers not to speak to strangers, and never indulges in small talk. When he does speak, he shows occasional flashes of surprising intelligence. Earning his trust is a difficult task, one not achieved by most. He has an uncanny affinity for machines, and prefers tinkering with them to socializing with other people. Having grown up poor, he has an innate dislike for the upper classes. It is unclear why he has thrown in his lot with the revolution but his loyalty seems rigid. He does not make friends easily, and therefor treasures the few friendships he has had.

An uncanny, savant-like skill with anything mechanical. He hasn't had any formal training, but he can figure out almost any kind of mechanism by simply observing it for a small amount of time. He can fix things he has never seen before and rebuilds engines and clockwork objects from memory. Has a motorcycle built entirely of spare parts.

May have above average intelligence, but this is unconfirmed.

He may or may not have been born on Svalentia, but was raised in an orphanage there since he was a baby. Growing up in care of the state, he learned early on never to back down from a fight, never to give away his trust, and to treat the law as a sort of reference point, to be used or ignored in turns. He has been doing odd jobs since a young age, taking whatever work he could find. Now living independently and working in a garage, He liberates any spare parts that won't be missed, and spends much of his free time building gadgets.

Though he does not discuss his sexuality, Cain is gay.
