Synopsis
Battle Mage- he may have a broken body but he has far from a broken soul

Description

Name: Bastielle ‘Bast’ Farraday

Age: Thirty-Four

Gender: Male

Height and Build: 6’4”/Heavily Muscular

Skin Color/Eye Color/Hair Color: Natural Skin Tone/Gray Stormy Eyes/Sandy Brown Hair

Distinct Features: Bast's eyes have evolved from a plain sort of gray to a bright monochromatic color that seems almost fluorescent in the shade of night. Beyond that he doesn't much look different from many Aulman- or at least not what you can tell when he is full clothed. There are many secrets about how Bast looks- though the scarring is the most obvious given that some of it reaches his face. There seems to be something wrong though with his left arm, but he keeps it wrapped up and concealed at all times.

Category: Highborne

Race: Aulman

Race Details: Aulman don’t much vary from the usual set of Highborne- they have very aesthetically pleasing features that are blandly normal. Yet they do vary in the fact that most Aulman are magically inclined. As they grow older their eyes may take on the hue of the magic that they use and more so become less and less humanoid looking as time passes. Aulmans also suffer from a disease called ‘black blood’ the inherent sign of it being obvious by its’ name. It is when the channels in their body become almost too receptive to magic and corrupt. They will harbor more and more magic in their bodies until they either kill themselves from a spell gone awry or mutate into some chimera-like base that is incompatible with life. Yet only 1 in 1000 Aulman receive this disease and most take a quiet death shortly after receiving the news.

Personality

Three Positive Traits: Loyal, Bold, Worldly

Three Negative Traits: Cold, Flippant, Morally Ambiguous

Bast gets the job done- always has and always will. While his demeanor may seem almost die-hard in a trying situation he is actually somewhat moot in the rest. He is quick to take the lead and almost pained to surrender it, but while one is under his care he will try his best not to let them down. It has also been noted that he is curious and will use that curiosity as a means to an end- and while most have seen that work in their favor they wonder if sometimes it does not.

There is many a tale where he is noted to recite the most interesting of stories by the fire.

Equipment / Abilities

Occupation:  Battle Mage

Deck Style:  Might/Magic

Weapons:  Sword (primary)/ Focus Stone (secondary)

Magic Class: Thermal

Description:  Battle Mages are an old sect of warriors that once predominately held a position of valor in the Royal Army. They fell from grace about a hundred years ago when the leader of their sect sought to attempt to harness two magical classes by sacrificing countless innocent civilians to his cause. Only as of recently has their order managed to climb up from the dredges and begin anew. They only accept members with the potential for magic and the control to harness it. Still each Battle Mage is given a Focus Stone at the beginning of their training in hopes of honing in their abilities and teaching them control (many Battle Mages keep it to this day as a good mind exercise). Yet along with that they are taught war tactics, common ambush positions, how to mount a horse and ride, they are to become at least bilingual, and inevitably given a weapon of their choice. Battle Mages take to wearing heavy armor and if they are good at what they do- they won’t have to move much.

- World Knowledge: Bast has wandered the world and seen the many a different sort of person and culture. He knows of the more prominent regions in each areas, their cultural differences and in some parts- their languages. Being a Highborne he is already allowed pretty much everywhere but due to his worldly knowledge he is even more fluidly allowed in places.

- Astral Signs: Growing up in the sort of environment he found himself in- he had become bored and wanting to learn more about the world around him. So instead of looking around him- he instead looked up. Bast has grown into quite the genius of star signs, their position in the sky that is relative to where he currently is, and their prophetic nature. It is good for guiding them in the right direction and on a more supernatural note- he can sort of guess at people’s futures.

- Diplomatic Immunity: being the most prosperous of race in Aeon has led to being widely accepted about the world. There is practically no prejudice when dealing with merchants (that are within the merchant’s guild and other legal circles) and they will usually not be treated with animosity unless they enter an antagonistic situation. They also usually do not have to have writs to enter more secure villages and encampments- and usually can get away with petty crimes as opposed to serving jail time.

Advantages:

Black Blood- When he gets excited, physically active, aroused or any other physical condition that causes his blood pressure to rise he receives random bursts of powerful magic that course through him due to his black blood curse.

Disadvantages:

Black Blood- Slowly his body is giving out on him and as time goes by it may be harder for him to function or to seem normal in public situations. He will die young for sure- but it is hard to tell how young.

Scarring- Bast has not had an easy life and that has become evident in the fact that his body is riddled with scars. It has given limited movement to his sword arm and more dexterous positions.

History

Father: Jeris Farraday

Mother: Emara Farraday-Aef

Brother (twin): Kastielle Farraday (deceased)

Sister-in-Law: Navinia Farraday-Uldsen

Nephew and Niece: Alric Farrady and Elanora Farraday

What is your background? Bast grew up in a low-noble household. They were prestigious enough to attend high-class gatherings but low enough not to receive any clout from doing so. Growing up Kastielle and Bastielle were the intrigue of many an important nobleman as they were some of the few Aulman twins to ever exist. They both had a brisk affinity for magic and were sent to the Citadel to further grow their talents. There Kast met Navinia and quickly fell in love, married, and had two children. Shortly afterwards he was diseased with ‘black blood’ and quickly met his expiration. Bastielle- afraid that the same thing would happen to him- moved to a more combat heavy unit of the Battle Mages and hoped to leave his more magical side buried. Since then he has raised his niece and nephew as his own and given all his surplus salary to Navinia.

How did you join the Army of the Dead? Bastielle was a Battle Mage for the Royal Army for much of his twenties. It was only until the Battle of the Eversands was he relieved from duty due to his entire assignment of men being decimated. They had gone there attempting to quell a minor rebellion and met an entire army in their wake. In the end the fought bravely but the only survivor ended up being Bastielle as he overworked his magical ability to save himself. He was dishonorably discharged and tortured into being the husk of a man he represents today. That along with the discovery of the Black Blood curse in his body he pretty much greeted the offer from the Army of the Dead as his last peace sentence.

What is your reputation within the army? Bast can get things done. This has become such the prominent fact with him that there are many rumors that Sol himself has seen this man and assigned him orders. No one knows if this is true or not, but he has made a bit of a name for himself- yet none knows if that is a good or bad thing.
