Synopsis
Exiled, disowned noble-born first son with a penchant for beer and brawling.

Description

By looks Davorin appears an ordinary man in his late twenties to early thirties standing roughly 5'7" and weighing in some where between 150-160 lbs, all pretty much muscle from the road he has traveled to becoming the man he is.  His once light complexion has been darkened by many miles traveled on the open road, and his hands bear the signature of one intimately familiar with not only the martial path but a hard, honest day's work, belying his noble birth.  He keeps his dark hair cut short in military fashion and sports a short, well cared for beard and mustache in the style of his house that covers the chin and skin directly around the mouth but leaves the rest clean-shaven.  His eyes, a blue dark and deep reminiscent of the ocean, would be his most striking feature if it weren't for the scar running down the right side of his face, from the scalp, down his cheek around the eye, and into his beard to the chin from a childhood accident during his martial training.

Personality

Despite his noble birth, Davorin is a friendly, down to earth sort of individual, having seen and learned much during his travels that has smoothed over the rough and haughty edges of the "noble" manner instilled upon him by his family.  Where once he was aloof and impeccably proper, he is now quick with a smile or a witty and sometimes lewd joke.  Where once the people around him would have been viewed as nothing more than tools to be used to further his and his House's goals, he now sees people for who they are and is fiercely loyal to those he would call friend.  He is intelligent and insightful, usually given over to thinking things through before acting, but he can also sometimes be rash and impetuous, too eager to join battle or jump into the middle of a brawl because his accelerated regenerative ability gives him an edge that allows for him to be a little less concerned for his physical safety than he might otherwise be.

Equipment / Abilities

His early years as first-born son to a noble father meant many hours practicing the ways of war.  Unlike the other men of his House, he came to favor a close combat style favoring a one-handed battle axe, rather than a sword, and a smaller, lighter shield than the larger and heavier kite shields normally favored by his House.  Also in contrast to his male relatives he showed great aptitude with a composite bow rather than the throwing spears favored by the House.  His choice in armor is also lighter, though that is more of a recent development due to his ability, favoring a light plate and mail, consisting of a chainmail shirt and sturdy breastplate that covers only the upper torso --the lungs and heart; leather gloves for the hands; and steel greaves to protect the shins.  His magic "power" comes from a spirit bound to his soul, like all the members of his family before him.  The spirit grants him power similar to someone gifted in the art of self-enhancement or modification.

-Regeneration:  The only ability he is currently aware of being gifted with.  The spirit's power has granted him with near immortality, retarding the aging process and allowing for him to heal from the most severe wounds relatively quickly, even going as far as to be able to reattach severed limbs if they are reattached to the body before the bond between him and her completely fades.  When he comes to learn of the other powers he can use, using them will severely weaken the effectiveness of this ability until his spirit companion has had time to recover.

-Skin Like Rock:  Through the power of his spirit he can change the toughness of his skin, allowing him to turn blades and some magic without injury.

-Malleable Form:  The most taxing on his spirit partner, this ability is limited only by his imagination.  Drawing on her power, Davorin can mold his body to do such things as make it more elastic so he can stretch his limbs farther than normal, create claw like weapons from his very bones, add more mass to make himself bigger, etc.  The only thing this power can’t do is make him smaller.  His mass must remain the same or grow larger.

History

Davorin is the first-born son of the current head of the noble House of Kevneiross in Juklar to the north of Natel.  Like all the members of the House Kevneiross Davorin was born with absolutely no access to magic, a well-kept secret of his family.  His early years were spent training for war, close combat and his own aptitude with a bow as he seemed to either lack the skills for horsemanship or a desire to learn them.  He received the scar on the right side of his face form a training accident during this time, though he believes it was actually intentional, his uncle trying to teach him that the smaller shield he favored was not protection enough.  He took the blow and though bleeding profusely, continued the sparring match to its conclusion --defeating his uncle-- before having it treated.  When he had learned all his elder male relatives could teach him in the realm of combat, he was deemed old enough and ready to undergo the secret ritual that gifted their house with the magical power that kept them on equal standing with the other noble houses of Juklar.  Using rituals taught to their house by a summoner many generations ago, Davorin's elder male relatives summoned a spirit of the elements and made a pact with it, binding this spirit to Davorin's soul, just like each of them had had done to them when they came of age.  In exchange for the experiences interaction with the mortal world brought them, the elemental spirits that accepted these bonds with House Kevneiross were to lend them their magical power; however, it soon became apparent that the spirit bound the Davorin either could not do so or would not do so, since this left his father, head of the house with an heir that could very well expose the secret weakness of their family, in a precarious position Davorin was disowned and exiled by his own father.  Davorin has since learned through communication with his spirit that it isn't that "she" refuses or can't give him access to magic, it's that "she" chooses to use the power their bond has gifted him with to keep him alive as long as his human form will allow because she knew from the moment their minds touched during the binding ritual that she would enjoy their time together and wanted to prolong her return to the lonely, ethereal existence of her kind as long as possible.  Since his exile, he has traveled the length and breath of Juklar, honing his martial skills and learning how to live without the privledges his family name had brought him.  Now he finds himself traveling to the city of Kolknor to offer his services to the magic guild based there, said to be the most prestigious and noble of the guilds on Brivald.

Extra
His spirit partner, while technically having no gender, refers to itself in the feminine, and he has been known to talk to her aloud though he doesn't need to.  This has caused some people he's met to think him crazy until he explains his interesting situation.  She treats him like she is equal parts wife, mother, and best friend, and her only goal in their partnership is to maintain his life as long as his form will allow.  I will be playing her as well, at least putting to text her comments, so try to remember that some of what I type is actually not something everyone around Davorin will hear, unless he says it aloud.
