Synopsis
The Seer

Description
Due to a lifetime of shut-in inactivity, Azil remains not only and rather unimpressive at only five feet and seven inches, but rather sickly in appearance. His natural coloring has faded and his figure is thin and frail. An oval face is framed by a mane of deep chocolate brown which has begun to gain a wave as it grows in length.  His most distinguishing feature is his wide saffron yellow eyes- a feature passed down throughout his mother’s bloodline.  To make this feature appear even more shocking, he has taken to outlining them with charcoal. (A trick picked up from the women of the court… However, he shall never admit to that.) A bit of scruff covers his face at times, but it is the wish of his caretakers that he keeps a clean appearance since he is such a high ranking representative. In addition to this, beautiful, and without a doubt, costly bobbles and chains of gold and ruby are adorned on special occasions. Most pieces cost more than a slumdog family could ever make in an entire lifetime.

Although, you would probably never even see these features considering that he is constantly dressed in a multitude of veils, shawls, and long scarves. These intricate laces and light silks matched with his bleached tan often provide him an ethereal appearance. Under this he sports a loose set of harem pants and a simple vest. Shoes are never worn seeing as those are articles meant for the working class. Deep reds and warm golds are most typically adorning him, but lately he has been favoring shades of shocking orange- a habit that the priests have deemed to be a silly faze.

These coverings also do a wonderful job of hiding the tightly wrapped bandage around his right hand. Under the fabric lies the horrible symbol of fire that has been permanently scarred onto his hand. Even though the mark is now five years old, the magic of the rune has kept the scar appearing as fresh as the day it was carved into his flesh- on occasion the wound even bleeds every now and then, much to his chagrin. It is the bane of his existence.

Personality
Much has changed in the optimistic Oracle in the five years since his push to stop the spread of wickedness throughout his homeland. No longer does the soft spoken young man believe in the foolish dream of purifying men. His time amongst the common folk has taught him that there is no hope for a perfect utopia in this world of corrupted beings. While not being perfect himself, he attempts to not make the same kinds brash decisions that foiled his plans and cost him so much in the past. Painful experience has taught him the importance of careful planning and the wisdom of occasionally taking advice from others. Which would seem like the perfect solution for his past mistakes if it was not for the fact that time has most of the time, the Oracle is completely paranoid. What one might diagnose nowadays as the beginning signs of minor schizophrenia have been labeled by the priests as holy possession.

Often feeling betrayed and puzzled by his own self has brought around a hysteric side of the man that the priests frankly do not know how to handle on their own. He often feels... sinful. Driven by impure thoughts and desires that he cannot explain, Azil feels betrayed by his church, people, and own self. He cannot understand why his god would forsake him so, especially when he is the church's beacon.

Unless he is not, which means somebody stole that spot from him.

It must be her. That pale witch. It is her fault. After he was scarred, she must have taken it from him. She corrupted him so that she could have what is his. But she does not deserve it for what she has done. Everything was her fault! She has to pay!

To combat this behavior, the priests have been medicating the Oracle with strong doses of medicinal mixtures. This, mixed with Azil's hooka habits have led to long bouts of incoherent drug-induced babble. It seems like the only thing that seems to return the Seer to his senses is the occasional visit from his old team members and assistances. His need for others still makes him quite naive at times, but he is certainly not the same blissful, forgiving church mouse that he once was.

Equipment / Abilities
The Oracle is blessed with the Innate ability to view into the future as well as occasionally drift into the minds of those around him. His ability mainly derives from a passion to assist, through which, he finds others that have talent that can aide in his goal. This does not always mean that he solely uses his gift for the benefit of others. Five years ago, the Oracle discovered what it meant to desire something wicked for yourself. He warped his powers into probing into the minds of those around him in order to accomplish his own tasks. While there is little need for this at the current time, Azil still holds onto the tethers once planted. When feeling pressured or scared, he often tugs on the minds of those around him just to see if they are still there. Mainly, he keeps tightly his watch on ex Sister Faa, the most wicked of all betrayers in his eyes- which of course is the only judgment that matters.

Like his predecessor, and many of the other Innates in the area, Azil does posses a gift for conjuring fire. Unfortunately, it is a talent that has yet to help him. The gift is fleeting and sporadic often times causing more trouble than good. It shows itself most often when the Oracle is at his mental breaking point.

History

Azil hales from the center of Seboet. He is the son of the prior Oracle- a powerful and threatening woman- and an unknown man. News of his birth caused quite the controversy inside the church seeing as how he was the first male Oracle born in centuries. His birth was seen as a sign of good luck and prosperity.  Like all of the Oracles that preceded him, he has been locked up and raised inside the temple walls for all of his life.

For a few years, he was raised by his mother. His mother, although terrifying to most, was always kind to him. She even taught how to interpret the powerful, strange dreams haunted him and that one should not be frightened by the gifts given to them by god. He quickly became a renound Seer. In fact, many believe that his gift might even be greater than his mother, which was not that outrageous of a claim seeing as how her powers revolved around pyro-manipulation- a skill that he finds nearly impossible to practice. When he was seven, his mother was claimed by sickness- a curse that claimed many of his predecessors. After her death the King-Priest appointed him to be the next Oracle, and has been serving as such ever since then.

Once his mother had died the priests took full control over his life. They made sure that he was healthy and raised ‘properly’. He was educated in the ways of the temple and taught by them to see people as dirty and sinful beings. He was kept away from everything ‘impure’. Meaning that he has little to no contact with the outside world, he is not even allowed to eat meat, nor is he allowed to read, do, or see anything not first approved by the high priests. Those who watch over him say that his seclusion is for his own good, but that does not keep him from sneaking off every now and then anyway. He has never actually made it out of the city limits, but he dreams about seeing around world. However, having spent his entire life, he is pretty resigned to his entrapped fate.

For in addition to being the tool of the church, priests need to keep an eye on him in order to treat his weak health. Azil had never been healthy. He, along with every other member of his line, has an unnatural tendency to contract every illness possible. From colds to the plague, if you can name it, an Oracle has caught it. Sometimes they are able to recover, but most do not make it to see thirty. His mother was only twenty-five when she fell.

With so little time available, Azil has felt rushed to insure that his mark on the world means something. It was me who decided to crack down against the heretics. Feeling that it is his duty to purge the world of their evil cracked down against those who dare claimed themselves to be higher than their god and their benevolent church. There were many people lost along the way, but their sacrifices aided in creating a better future for the lambs of Seboet.

Five years after the uprising, Azil still holds his title as the Oracle. The drama of the past has long since faded returning him to his simple life of priesthood and servitude all in the name of Loegir. The watch over him has increased drastically, but he does not seem to notice much. His time is mostly spent combatting bout of growing insanity and waves of drug fueled euphoria- an issue that the church is keen on covering up. When in his right senses, he occasionally performs spiritual reading for the nobility. However, his selected audience has recently become much more exclusive. For the church he still exercises his gift to select people that, that he believes, will better the world. Most are recruited into priesthood or the army- positions in which he views to be vital. One never knows when a certain group of unruly heretics might just decided to show their faces again.
