Biography:
Born in a small city that was somewhere between the country and the
suburbs, it was a place that everyone knew everyone, and Melody was one
that everyone definitely knew about. From day one, the news spread
quickly that the daughter of the young couple was strange in appearance.
Like some children she was born with some hair, however the strange
part would be that Melody was born with silvery hair, a color definitely
not seen as a natural she for the most part. And of course this
worried her parents greatly and so for the first few years of her life,
the doctors put her through many batteries of tests to make sure that
there was nothing wrong with the girl. And in the end they could find
nothing, no reason at all and eventually just told her parents that it
was just the absence of the correct pigmentation in her hair and didn't
seem to be for any medical reason. While it was good to know their
daughter was healthy, the news of the pigmentation came as a surprise
but they would do their best to help her not feel like she stood out
from the others.
When Melody was 8, her parents would have another child, another
daughter who luckily this time was normal. A normal little girl,
healthy and happy with no problems at all who they would name Lillian.
Melody would take to her baby sister from the start, helping take care
of her and everything. The two of them would end up being inseperable
despite the 8 year gap in age.
At the age of 10 Melody's parents would decide it would be best to move
the girls to the larger city nearby, due to the school system being
better and it being a larger town. A girl with silver hair wouldn't be
so out of place.... which was something that was sorely needed by Melody
because of the fact that she had absolutely no friends either then her
younger sister... Her peers were cruel to the sweet girl, no matter what
she did, entirely because of her odd hair. However such a thing was
common in small schools, and her parents knowing such a thing felt they
had no choice but to move to a bigger city...
While the move to the city didn't magically solve Melody's problems with
making friends because from the time they arrived she was painfully shy
even if sweet. And of course her hair color did make things a little
on the difficult side for her still. But it wasn't nearly as bad
because despite being on the unique side she was still only one of many
children in the school system.
Eventually, Melody would meet the boy named Erik Somerholde, another
quiet and shy person. And through similar interests, including a love
of books they became close friends. And the sort of friendship that he
provided her would turn out to be a much needed thing for the silver
haired girl, as her more hyperactive and friendly personality would get
the chance to come through.
(Let me know if I should change/add anything to this)
The years of being a pariah however wouldn't really leave her, as Melody
had found solace at some point in the fantasy worlds of novels and in
particular developed a deep love for anything related to faeries. And
besides her music, she often spent a lot of time day dreaming of the
wonderful adventures one could have in the worlds of magic and fantasy.
So over the years, although they wouldn't be easy, they would be simple
and good. Melody didn't have a lot of friends but that didn't matter to
her as long as she had her very good friends, mainly being Erik and her
family. At least they would be until Melody's 17th year when disaster
would strike.
It had been a normal day, like any other when Melody's father was
driving her younger sister to one of her dancing practices. A nice
spring evening that should have gone just like every other time. Except
for this time, it wouldn't. One of the problems of course with living
in a bigger city was the increase in crimes, including drunk driving.
And on this particular even someone was doing just that. Their car
would smash into her father's and that would be the end of what had been
a nice and simple life for Melody. Her and her mother would lose them
both, killed on impact. This would be devastating to Melody with how
close she had been to her younger sister. In fact if not for Erik, who
even knows what would have become of Melody as he was the only thing
that kept her from sinking completely into the deep black depression
that possessed her.
A few months after she turned 18, Melody's mother would decide she
wanted to move back to the small town that Melody and her sister had
been born in, but Melody refused to leave the city. As much as she
loved her mother, she couldn't leave her best friend, or the city that
she'd mostly grown up in. Plus why would she ever want to return to the
small town that had caused her so much grief? And so, she moved out
on her own then, getting her job in the music store so she could pay for
the rent on the small apartment she would find and one of the few good
things to come out of the tragedy would be the money they would recieve
from her father's life insurance, allowing Melody to go to college and
only have to work one job in order to afford her small place.
Another side effect however of the loss of her sister would be that
Melody would retreat further into the fantasy worlds of her mind and the
love of magic, even getting a small tattoo of a fairy on her left leg
above her ankle with her sisters name as part of it. And even with how
much she knows this sometimes worries Erik, she can't help herself with
her love of fantasy worlds.
