Alaric is the "cool" teacher at school. Everyone loves him for the fact that he doesn't really seem like a teacher at all, although he does know his facts and history. He came to Mystic Falls on a presumption that he would find what he was looking for here, vampires yes, but his fiance as well. His fiance had been obsessed with vampires, constantly researching them. One day, she disappeared. After a couple of years, an official funeral was held in her honor, but Alaric knew better. Isobel wasn't dead, and Mystic Falls may just be where he finds her.
