Just a girl...
Description
Maria is a seventeen year old girl, standing at 5'7". She is naturally thin, but athletic and flexible. She has muscles, they just aren't defined. Framed in curly, almost white hair (which falls to her waist) is a heartshaped face. She has large, expressive blue eyes, a small nose, and a small mouth framed by dusty pink lips.
Maria hails from a small farming town, and as such her clothing is very simple. She wears a tan dress, made of deer hide. It is soft, but durable. The dress falls to her mid-thigh, and underneath it she wears a pair of matching tan shorts which end just above her knee. She walks barefoot. Around her left ankle is a silver anklet, the most expensive thing she owns. The anklet is made of two silver bands, which weave in and out of each other. Hanging from these bands are a series of small silver bells. With each step the bells jingle softly, but when Maria is trying to be quiet, the bells go silent. Even she isn't sure if they go quiet because she's moving more carefully, or if they seem to know when she needs them to stop making noise.
Maria lets her long hair fall loose, but keeps it out of her face by wearing a plain tan band around her head.
Personality
Maria's knowledge is very limited. She's grown up in a small farming town, with almost no access to education. Despite this drawback, she is quick-witted, and curious. She tries to learn as much about everything around her as she can. She can seem very childish, bouncing from topic to topic, but she understands things that could be considered beyond her years. She is very friendly, and fiercely protective of the people she grows to love. However, she has developed some major trust issues. Though she might be polite and friendly to a person, it takes a lot more than a good impression to gain her trust.
Equipment / Abilities
Maria comes from a small farming town, on a medieval planet with no name. She is skilled with the two simple daggers she carries, tucked into a small pocket on her shorts. Other than the basic skills she picked up with her daggers (skinning animals, killing small animals for food) she has pretty much no fighting skills. However she is quick and agile, and tends to stay away from fights. She isn't gifted with much intellect, but she has a quick mind.
History
Maria grew up in a small farming town. All she knows is the trade. She grew up without a mother, and so taught by her father, she learned the tasks considered fit for men. However, some of the women in the village took care of her as she grew older, and she was taught to sew and "act as a girl should." She and her father were close, until he died when she was fifteen. She then stayed with her uncle and his family, until she was seventeen.
There was a legend, in her village, of a great beast. Apparently it lived in the forest to the south of her village, and every 10 years required a sacrifice. As the only orphan in the village, Maria was chosen as the sacrifice. No one else in the village would give up one of their children, or wives, or brothers or sisters. Maria was forced into the woods, and told to keep walking. She did, and she kept walking, and she kept walking... And she ended up in the multiverse, though she didn't even know she'd left her homeland, or how.
