Lapis Lazuli

Curious, stubborn, and as self-centered as a gyroscope, Lapis is definitely a cat.

Though he can appear in human form (and is learning other forms as well), Lapis doesn’t have an entirely human personality. His mind is still largely that of a cat- a predator, a survivor. Things like doubt, worries about the future, planning, making any kind of effort to get along with others, and other such things are alien to his nature. He is capable of a certain amount of plotting and more complicated thoughts than a normal cat would be, due to spending time in human form. Body shapes mind after all.

He comes off as more intelligent than he really is most of the time and complicated insults usually go right over his head. Lapis doesn’t get along with other animals very well- he either ignores or eats them. He is fascinated by humans though, and lately has been wandering closer to their settlement.

Shape-shifting (taking on the form of anyone he sees through constant concentration. Also switching from humanoid to felinoid), feline agility, stealth, and senses, including excellent night vision. Also a skill at manipulating people akin to that of a sociopath and Fighting dirty with all available weapons (including claws and teeth) and complete lack of compunction or morality.

Gifted at spoken languages, but cannot read. Very, very good at not dying.

Weapon(s) of choice: His first choice is usually charm. A close second is claws and teeth. He will use his other abilities to take any advantage possible in a fight.

Lapis started life as a normal cat, a feral thing surviving in the desert wastes. Memories of this time are confused at best. As he grew older and more cunning, he grew in size, his fur turned white and his tail split in two.

Hunting absolutely anything as a matter of survival, he devoured everything from mice, to poisonous snakes, to other monsters. After many decades of this, he developed a few new tricks; namely the ability to change his morphogenic field to that of a human (taking on a human form).

Occasionally, Lapis meets humans who have sojourned deeper into the desert on a mission of spiritual gain. When this happens, he takes on a semi-human form and grants favors in exchange for pieces of gold jewelry, hammered into beautiful shapes by traditional craftsmen. To everyone else, he and his kind are largely myth.

Likes: Screwing with people, gold, general substance abuse, gold, being loved and feared, gold, smoking, gold, sunny patches, and gold.

Dislikes: Losing at anything, tail-pulling, work, being made fun of, coyotes, being disrespected.
