Yay!I also recommend watching clips of The Fast & Furious series on Youtube. Also Initial D, The Italian Job, and Gone In 60 Seconds. I'll put up some clips in a bit.
I'm a HUGE fan of Initial D! I'm in rather beginning with the manga but I'm really enjoying it (the live action movie version is said to be bad but I haven't seen it). <3 And I've watched Fast & Furious movies too, very enjoyable. >u<
I also highly recommend for all to look into the car you'll drive with (Trueno would have been epic, LOL, but I didn't give in to the temptation). Use Wikipedia and car info sites dedicated to your chosen brand/model. Since we're n00b drivers, I thought it was OK just to randomly pick up a car brand and then choose a year model by the story of where from the car came for their reach before looking into what qualities it has. I might end up in very low performance acts with Alasdair's Honda Accord. :'D

I got the Italian Job on DVD.The new version with Mark Wahlberg that is.
I haven't seen Fast & Furious, Gone in 60 Seconds or Initial D... I don't know anything about cars. Doesn't street racers takes a car and then upgrades and customize it? I have seen some episodes of CSI and other TV-shows with street racing in them.
I've also played Burnout... but I guess that doesn't count?

Now in the beginning you don't have to worry at all!!
First we're just going to play with the small car knowledge of all. We can keep it up for a long time that way too.
My character can't even afford on buying tuning parts, not to mention he wouldn't know what to get and what to do with them.
But I could rise you more worries by pointing out that ie. different cars need different kind of handling to drift them...
Oh well, if nothing else helps, I'm gonna find a person from the internet who would like to teach us stuff. I want to learn about cars also for real life. :d

Well, you have to do different kind of things to drift different kind of cars. I don't know how it works in detail to be honest, but I think it has to do with what kind of gearing your car has, its weight and does it have FWD or RWD - it might even be it doesn't work on another one. Should check, should check.
Totally... not. I don't even have a car.
I think you should play the first turn in the RP before you go (and make suggestions about how we meet). Just something that we all can get to the same place and while you're gone we could plan more precisely how we know each other and play our first turns too. When you come back we continue with second posts and so.

I don't even understand what "drift" means.... I get the gearing part and the weight part. Not sure how they're related with "drift" though. I think I understand FWD and RWD. FWD is it when the front wheels that drives and RWD is it when the back wheels drives, correct? Then there's 4WD too.
I'm not sure how I should do that... as I said I'm not very experienced in forum RP. I could give it a shot...
About the meeting part...
Perhaps on a car convention?
A car shop?
A car association?
In a club?
Somewhere in the city?
At a café?
At a racetrack?
Or an underground street race as crowd?
Just some of my ideas.

Drift means letting the car slide sideways sort of. Look this.

Nothing car related, I'd say. They don't have street racing culture at all in there yet, you see.
Café, club or such would work. All characters are probably enough old to enter both?

Ah! That's drift? Never understood how you should do that in Burnout... :P Can see how it's related to weight and gearing.
Car culture can still be there, just not the street racing part. A car shop is certainly there. The other people in town needs to repair and buy their cars too. There can be a car convention or car society, that is not related to street racing. I'm mostly thinking of sport cars, luxury cars (like Rolls Royce... sp?) or vintage cars. The racing part... well there's a professional sport, like F1 or... other kinds of car-sports. Just no street racing if we decide not to have it to start with.
Haha, yeah. It's one of the rare stupid things I want to learn to do with a car.
Well, I'd say it's a big city they live in so OK, anything you feel the best to write about. ^^

Could you give me a link to your charactes so I can list them up to the game thread? It'll be faster to find reference to others if/when needed that way.

I started typing my game entry but in the middle of the night my sentences don't keep too well together. Oh well, it'll be fast to type down later that I know what sort of story my first post has to tell.
And that sounds good. You just have to come up with a reason to come to the car shop or us to come down at the hotel.
EDIT: Brook V was worried about his RPing skills and then he types great and long post like that. What on earth, man! You're so going to be the leader of the racing team and the end.

I was going more for a "get to know each other" approch but good aquintances works alright too.

Well, I guess it should differ between characters. Alasdair isn't a shy person so he talks to anyone familiarly right away, but the feelings don't need to be the same back. I could imagine him being even a bit annoying because of that.
It's alright. You should just have fun in where ever you're going! ^^
Now I have put up a reply to look into.
I feel that I'm writing sloppily nowadays but I looked through my post twice before submitted. I guess I should pick up on writing short stories again, aswell. And really pay attention into how writers I like build their texts. ^^

I made a new entry into the thread.
I have to shape up now and type in the next post. I feel always a bit worried about making entries since I really enjoy reading what you come up with. I'd say all of you are good writers and I should know with my 12 years of experience from all sorts of RPing and RPers. I'm proud of playing with you all and will try to write better myself with each post.
EDIT: Yeah, sounded cheesy but I am glad that I've picked up again the excitement to roleplay and write and improve. Thanks! ^^
EDIT 2: I am sorry my post is ridiculously short but I'm a bit in a hurry yet I wanted to play one turn. Unless some of you types there their next post, I'll continue it in a bit. :d
