    The Technologies of the Era

    Kittmund
Weapons and airships are probably the two things that are more advanced and futuristic in this nation. Soldiers are dressed in the finest of armor, too. People here are decorated with elegant outfits and they come from a wealthy background. You can expect to see theaters and sky shows here.

    el'Darft
A primitive nation. Think Aztecs and Mayans. They have an open markets that people attend. You could almost think of it like a Hispanic community or even tribal cultures. Tight-knit, but with limited technologies. Story telling, hand-crafts, etc.

    Ciel'fant
Very modern. Think NYC meets Las Vegas meets Tokyo. Tons of lights and noisy. Busy all the time. There are moving sidewalks and elevators here. TVs and banner/bounty boards. The law enforcement in this area has airships and aircycles. A very wealthy place. A lot of gold and silver laced objects are found here. It would be the Goldenrod of Pokemon.

    Optin
A pretty depressing place it is here. There is very limited technologies. The light source is fire. Carts and wagons are all human (or animal) drawn. This place would be equivalent to living during the Great Depression. If you have money, you can get by perfectly. If you don't, you have to do what you can to survive.

    Nazzinivia
Think Nazi Germany. They have lights and other technologies, but these people specialize in fighting and warfare so they didn't spend time getting TVs and computers. They are a very rough group of people who don't rely on anything but the land around them. Native Americans crossed with Nazi soldier would be a great example for describing these people.

    Nithlium
Very agricultural. A lot of farming and irrigation technologies. No tractors or anything, but they do have planes, ships, and wagons for trade purposes. They've also built reservoirs, damns, and hydrolysis-related technologies to help with the farming. They would have electricity, but no TV. Think Amish, but with advanced farming tools.

    Alshmere
Ancient Rome would match this city. There isn't much technology here, but the technology they do have came from other nations. Though the people here tend to look down on modern advancements. They like being simple and rudimentary.

    Gagdofph
The underwater city is highly advanced, so when visiting here, you could see a lot of futuristic things here. TVs, robots, battleships, tanks, clones, jet-packs, etc. Being driven by science, this nation surpasses all the others and is the leader in 'modern technology' (modern as in way futuristic... think Avatar).

The Means of Transportation per Nation

    Kittmund
Everything is within walking distance up in this floating city. There are horse drawn carriages that can move people from one location to another. There is also a large air terminal here. Airships always fill the air as this is the main mean of transportation. These ships can very in size. Some are one person aircycles while others are full-blown ships.

    el'Darft
Carts are about the only things here that don't require a human to push/pull them. However, there are human drawn carts. As you can guess, walking is the only means of getting around this place.

    Ciel'fant
Moving sidewalks and elevators help get people from one location to another in a breeze. There are also cycles and a large air terminal in this nation, as the people of Kittmund frequent this location the most.

    Optin
    See el'Darft's section for information.

    Nazzinivia
Most rides are animal drawn. Walking is also pretty popular here, however, most everyone knows how to ride some sort of creature in this nation. There is, as strange as it may be, a landing strip for the airships. It's not super large, but it's big enough to land something the size of the titanic on it.

    Nithlium
This place is pretty much a frozen wasteland. Dog teams and walking are the only means of transportation here. Oh, and the occasional canoe or row boat.

    Alshmere
    See Nazzinivia's section for information.

    Gagdofph
Teleportation tubes, moving sidewalks, boats, airships, etc. You name it, they probably have it. This is, by far, the easiest nation to move about in. You can go from one end of the nation to the other in about ten minutes or, if you prefer, two seconds via teleportation.

    The Means of Communication

The cities with technological advances can send messages from one screen to another in just mere seconds. Those nations without the proper internet-like tools, have to use regular means of communication - word of mouth, carrier birds, snail mail, or air express.

    The Rise of the la'Ronk

I figure people are wondering where the heck these guys came from and why they got to be the supreme rulers of the land, right? Well, it's quiet simple, a world in turmoil tends to look for a strong authority figure. This figure ended up being L.A. Ronk. He was given the a-okay to bring peace to the world by purging the world of darkness.

Everything was pretty awesome while he was in reign. He was a dictator, but he was a kind loving one. However, one day, his son cast a curse on the male. By that night, L.A. Ronk was found drowned in a vile of poison. With his son as his successor, things started to revert back to the evil chaos that once shook the land.

The people lived in this nasty time for a great many years. Finally sick of the oppression, one man and one woman cast their souls away to the gods so that peace could be brought to the land. Balance and Void were their names. Balance sought out the heavens while Void went to get help from the creatures of hell. With both humans sacrificing themselves to summon these two gods, the peace of the world was restored. The Ronk family was removed from power. All was great and the land was finally starting to heal.

About a few hundred years had passed and the offspring of L.A. Ronk was born. With a twisted nature, the young woman flew up through the ranks and landed as a noble among the rulers. Being wed off to one if the royal families was probably the happiest moment of her life. After being announced the queen of the nation of Alshmere, she slew her husband and the rest of her royal court. Calling forth her own set of followers, the woman began her pursuit to conquer the world.

She, single handedly, took command of the entire planet. Throughout her conquest, she began pregnant and bore three children. Each one slowly died after the other, as the spirits of Balance and Void decided to destroy the babies. However, being only two beings, the youngest of all the children was left alive. His grandchildren now rule over the land. And, to this day, the spirit of Balance has regretted not killing the male. Void, on the other hand, had decided to join the man and infuse his bloodline with a dark power.

People fear the la'Ronk rulers as it is rumored that they can utilize the power of Void as they please. With Void at their side, the currently Ronk Family decided to create a new ruling title that would strike fear in the hearts of all - la'Ronk. la'Ronk came about because every member born into the Ronk family was given names with the initials L and A.

With the la'Ronk now enslaving the land and pushing the people into fear, it is only a matter of time before the entire planet is forced to do as the la'Ronk desire.

    Explaining the la'Ronk

The royal family is on top. There are then three groups that fall below the royal family. The Mon la'Ronks, are, in a sense, on par with the other ones. However, Mon la'Ronk are the most respected of Cor la'Ronk and Med la'Ronk. Cor la'Ronk are then respected the second most. Med la'Ronk have no real respect aside from the fact that they are medical gurus and the best of the best in that field.

Mon la'Ronk are either married or born into this position. You simply cannot apply for it. In Jenny Lynn's case, she is engaged to the prince, so her rank was upgraded. Mon la'Ronk are pretty much the richest people and tend to serve as members of the royal family's court. Though they are a separate division from the Cor la'Ronk, Mon la'Ronk are often present in Cor la'Ronk events. Furthermore, Mon la'Ronks are appointed as judges and government officials. Some titles might include, Head of War, Head of State, Secretary of Defense, Supreme Court Chief Justice, etc.

Kni la'Ronk work directly under the Mon la'Ronk. They serve as all the military leaders, strategists, and knights. They are the soul protectors of the la'Ronks and the people of Kittmund. These people can be employed as officers of the peace, security guards, or even high ranking soldiers. Assassins would also fall under this grouping.

Cor la'Ronk are either born with this title or hired into the position due to their skills and communication abilities. For the most part, the Cor la'Ronk are the rule makers and work one-on-one with the Mon la'Ronk diplomats that work directly for the royal family.

    Med la'Ronk
are the lowest ranking la'Ronk. There only purpose is for medical reasons. Furthermore, Med la'Ronks are the only legal medical doctors and practices on the planet. If you're not la'Ronk certified, you're not a certified doctor.

Improving rank is not really an option. The only way to be promoted is through marriage. You can usually move up within your tear, but going outside it is usually forbidden. However, there are rare circumstances where people are flipped to another class due to outstanding skills or because of a specific desire or need.

Ranking within the ranks certainly exists. A Mon la'Ronk engaged to a royal family member is placed higher than a normal Mon la'Ronk. Kni la'Ronks that serve the family directly are ranked higher than the average Kni la'Ronk. Each subdivision is broken into several additional divisions. There are usually senior ranking groups as well as novice levels. Depending on the skills and requirements met, people can be promoted.

The legislative system actually mimics the system used in the United States. Due to past rebellions and issues with revolts, the ruling family decided to create two separate branches. The Senate is composed of elite officials from each of the nations (there are four people from each nation). The House of Representatives is based purely on the size and wealth of a nation.

Explaining How the Elements are Connected

I think it's safe to say that we all have a general idea how everyone is connected, but I just wanted to make sure I got everything out in the open. I want to prevent unlikely scenarios where someone is super powerful when they should, in fact, be rather useless.

It is safe to assume that there are really two times of day that will come into play - day and night. So, I've broken them into two sections based solely off this idea. Reference this section if you're unsure of your character's level of strength.

    During the Daylight
This section will explain the strength (or weakness) of the heroes. It will also call out some important natural phenomena that will cause a surge in power.
Light- During the daylight, Light is always at her best. When the sun is highest in the sky, this is when she is strongest. Light also has the ability to draw her strength from bright surroundings, so in wintry terrain she is also rather powerful. Her abilities grow stronger as the sun approaches its highest peak and they slowly start to drain as it begin to set.
Dark - Throughout the day, Dark is at a disadvantage. Dark is rendered useless when Light is at her strongest. Although Dark's powers aren't powerful, Dark still has some ability to prove himself useful. In other words, he's not a complete waste of space during the day. However, his powers do drain a lot faster during the day. The daylight also forces him to focus and concentrate more than usual, as it takes more energy to manipulate darkness in the light.
Fire - Like Light, she is strongest during the day. Her strength comes from the sun. The brighter the sun, the more powerful her flames become. However, unlike Light, her powers don't dwindle away was the sun begins its set. So long as the sun remains in the sky, her flames will burn bright. The summer solstice is probably the best day for Fire, as the planet is tipped toward the sun. All in all, Fire is able to harness the power of the sun to create her flames. No sun, means small flames.
Water - Much like Dark, Water is not her strongest when the sun is out. However, she is not useless. She just can't reach her full potential. Nonetheless, Water still has the ability to fight and heal as she pleases when the sun is present. But, there are times when water will be scarce as dry temperatures and a burning sun are known to suck the water from life. So long as she avoids dry spells, Water is able to hold her own ground during the daylight.
Earth - Earth's strength is purely dependent on the type of greenery. Some plants are alive at night while others are most active during the day. Because of this, Earth is usually able to fight during either time of day. But, for the most part, Earth is strongest when the sun is present. It also gives him the ability to recharge his strength as the sun is his power source for energy.
Lightning - As one might assume, Lightning isn't typically present in the broad daylight. Cloud coverage is needed in order for this element to be useful. However, this doesn't mean she's completely useless when there aren't clouds. In fact, it's quiet the opposite! Not only is she of the element lightning, but she's also able to harness charges around her. Whether it be from lights, batteries, or even sparks from engines being started, this woman can pretty much command any form of electricity. Granted, non natural electricity (aka: not lightning) is harder for her to command, but she's still able to use it.
Wind - Much like Lightning, Wind doesn't depend on Light or Darkness, per say. However, Wind does depend on temperature and climate conditions, which are affected by Darkness and Light. Light can help heat the world while Darkness tends to cool it down. When these two mix and clash, storms can brew, which is often when Wind is at its strongest. Wind and Lightning tend to go hand in hand. Both are strongest during storms. Furthermore, like Lightning, Wind is never useless. Wind can conjure up one hell of a storm without doing much.
Ice - Ice usually depends on Darkness. Like Water, Ice tends to work his magic best when the sunlight is not visible. This is more than likely because Darkness is when the world is at its coolest state. Light heats up the world, which can melt Ice. Although Ice and Water are one and the same, the two do differ. Ice can only control Ice and Water can only control Water. Furthermore, where Water can heal, Ice can freeze. For being similar, the two are both drastically different.
    During the Moonlight
This section will explain the strength (or weakness) of the heroes. It will also call out some important natural phenomena that will cause a surge in power.
Light- Seeing as Light is strongest during the day, it only makes sense that she be weakest at night. Though she is not completely useless, she is less likely to be of any help. From 11:30pm to 12:30am is when her powers vanished and she is unable to do anything with her magic.
Dark - Dark becomes powerful the split second the sun dips behind the horizon. Feeding off the shadows and the fear within the hearts of those nearby, Darkness can only become stronger throughout the night. There is no one prime time when he is at his strongest. So long as the sun is not visible he reigns command over the world.
Fire - To her dismay, Fire is not all that useful at night. Although she can still create flames, these are nothing in comparison to her flames brought about during the day.
Water - Like Dark, Water is strongest at night, especially during full moons. Water harnesses her power from the moon and will grow stronger each night as the moon approaches its full moon state. Once a full moon has formed, and it starts to go down the other end of the cycle, Water loses some of her strength. All in all, Water and Darkness are the masters of the night and they depend on one another to become even stronger.
Earth - As stated before, Earth is dependent on the type of plants in use. Night plants are great to use, but, for the most part, Earth is strongest during the day.
Lightning - Seeing as storms do happen throughout the night, it only makes sense that Lightning be able to fight during this time, too.
Wind - Like Lightning, Wind is able to fight in the dead of the night as Wind is everywhere.
Ice - Like Water, Ice gets stronger during the dark of the night. His strength is drawn not only from the moon, but it is also drawn from the darkness. With the two, he is strong. Even during the summer months, Ice is usually able to fight in the moonlight.

    The Roles

Characters, for the most part, fall under two to three role types. The types are explained below and the characters under this role are listed in their color. And, yes, I stole this idea from Final Fantasy XIII.

    Commando / Attacker
As the name implies, those in this category assume the full frontal attack role. They tend to have stronger fighting abilities and can deal more damage. All in all, it's these guys that do the attacking. They depend greatly on the others for help, just as the others depend on them to vanquish the enemy. These attacks are primarily weapon based. Dark. Fire. Ice.

    Ravager / Blaster
Similar to the Commando role, the Ravager is another category that revolves around attacking. These attacks are usually concentrated and used repeatedly on one target at a time. They also tend to be more heavily weighted with elemental attacks. They are the strikers and destroys that use their magical powers to win. Lightning. Fire. Wind. Water. Earth.

    Sentinel / Defender
This a a protective role. Anyone that falls into this category is typically a defender who shields their allies from enemy attacks. They tend to be the ones that will block and deflect attacks, as they have higher stamina to attacks (more resistant). Counter attacks and evading are also lumped into this role as well as distracting and tormenting an enemy. There goal is to make the enemy focus their attacks on them. Earth. Light. Ice. Wind.

    Saboteur / Jammer
Probably the dirtiest of all the roles. Those that fall into his class make the enemies' lives a living hell. They inflect pain and make sure the enemy is never able to guard or strike. They tend to inflict mental and physical pain. They can cause blindness and even paralyze an enemy. This role is one of manipulation and control. They destroy the enemy from the inside out. Dark. Water. Lightning. Ice. Fire.

    Synergist / Enhancer
This role is a support role. Those that fall into this category are typically offering a wide range of enhancements. The buff and boost the other character's powers. Think of them as cheerleaders and an inspiration. They will increase your morale while making your attacks stronger. Light. Earth.

    Medic / Healer
Another self-explanatory role. The medic heals the others and is usually focused on keeping the health status of their allies up and high. They tend to be chanting spells and using medicine throughout the battle. During and after the battle, they assume the therapist role and help recover their allies. Without a medic, the team would be royally screwed. Water.
    Stealth / Invisibility
Another self-explanatory role. The medic heals the others and is usually focused on keeping the health status of their allies up and high. They tend to be chanting spells and using medicine throughout the battle. During and after the battle, they assume the therapist role and help recover their allies. Without a medic, the team would be royally screwed. Wind. Darkness.

Just so everyone is aware of this, no one knows that Devyn is the Wind Hero. For the most part, the group of seven believes that they have everyone. They won't discover Devyn's powers until later on. Not even he is aware of his power.

    Text You Should Read

This is just a piece of text that explains a bit about the la'Ronks and the heroes.

"What would you like to know, my love? There is much to tell, you see." She batted her lashes a few times before she rang a bell, which summoned two women. "Could you get us some tea?" Nodding in unison, the maids walked away and returned moments later with fine Chinaware for the two to sip their tea from.

Lips curling up in delight, she let his naughty hands feel their way up Adam's shirt. "I think I shall start from the beginning. I am here for one reason only. To figure out the identity of the heroes. You see, I'm a bit of a myth lover. I simply cannot stop myself from wanting to know more about the heroes. But I still cannot believe that they call themselves heroes. They have done nothing much cause trouble for the people of the land. They have created a sense of hope, which has brought people to rebel against the la'Ronk. The la'Ronk, who seek only peace and happiness for the planet, have to quiet suck rebellious acts to prevent unwanted bloodshed."

"My lady," one of the servants stepped into the room. "You need to watch your tongue. Such vulgar words should never come from a woman's mouth."

"Oh, Abigail. I am merely telling stories. You need not worry about them. The la'Ronk will win. They have to. If they were to loose could you imagine the chaos that would engulf the world? People would die because riots would storm the streets. The la'Ronk, though hated, create order and peace. Although times might not be as bright as they would like, at least the la'Ronk can say that the vast majority of people are safe."

"This is true. But the la'Ronk aren't as holy as you are making them out to be." It was true, Abigail was none the wiser. She had no idea the woman she was serving was actually the High Queen.

"Yes, this is true. The la'Ronk do murder people in cold blood. But they do it to keep the bad blood out of the way. They kill those that appose them."

"So they kill anyone who might threaten their rule. It hardly seems fair!"

"Fair? Tch, fair isn't possible anymore. You either live or you die. Obey the law or find your soul floating to the spiritual world."

"The la'Ronk oppress the people! They are terrible. They never consider the people. They do what they do to appease the rich and the famous. They have, not once, asked us, the common folk, what we think."

    "What do you think...?"

    "They all need to die."

"What a shame. You would rather let someone else seize control? I find that foolish. What if you get someone worse?"

"No one is worse than the la'Ronks."

"That is where you are wrong. Void is worse. Void would surely seize control of the land if the la'Ronks stepped down. The heroes are so foolish. The la'Ronks can ward off Void. Once the la'Ronks fall, Void will rise to power and the Forbidden Underground City of Xe'fear will rise from the hellish flames, engulfing the planet and creating a true time of darkness. If the heroes want to slay the la'Ronks, I say let them. Once the demons come up from Xe'fear, the heroes will be hated. They will be seen as traitors, as pawns in Xe'fears undead army."

The house fell silent as tears had taken hold of Abigail. "I thought you might like to know this, Abigail, before you continue to tarnish the la'Ronk name."

    Text You Should Read

This is just a piece of text that explains the history of the la'Ronk as well as the Curse of Void and the Prophecy of Balance.

"Explain. Oi. You're supposed to be the smart one, but I suppose it can't be helped! You aren't a royal like me. So, peasant, I guess I shall have to educate you on the heroes and their forsaken ways of destruction... I quoted my sis on that last part." Eyes flicking to the door, the girl shoved her hands into her pits at the sound of a gentle knock. "Stupid sissy, she's trying to steal you from me..." Lani pouted.

Like Lani, Lorraine didn't even wait to be welcomed in. Although, to Lani's surprise, it wasn't the sister she suspected. "Ohhh~ It's Rainy!" she spoke in the tune and rhythm of a song bird. "Rainy, Rainy! You are just in time to tell Eli-Weely the story of the stupid heroes."

"Am I now?" Lorraine said with a smirk and an almost matter-of-fact chide.

Twisting her arms and whirling them around as if they were a toy, she battered her way into the prettiest princess of them all. "PLEASE! You have to."

"Very well..." slid out of her mouth like the hissing sound of a snake's tongue.

Glancing over at Eli, who she was not really all that fond of, Lorraine slipped her dainty body over to the nearby patted chair. It was really quiet the ugly chair, but Lorraine knew better than to nit-pick the man's home. After all, it wasn't like he was royalty... yet.

Once she was seated as comfortably as she could, Lorraine pointed her slender, pale fingers toward the book that rested beside Lani's round face. "Bring that here," she breathed in her soft-spoken voice, "I would like to make sure I don't stray off the beaten path for I know all too well what happens to those that start rumors and lies."

Lani's chubby little fingers wormed there way around the binding of the book. With her innocence vanishing by the second, the once baby-faced princess started to look more and more like her demonic sibling. Both were out for blood and both hated the heroes with no end.

"Make it bloody," the little piped in before handing the book off.

That ghastly smirk that she worn before came sliding back onto her face. Like Lani, Lorraine's face lost its beauty and became jaded with wrath and sin. Despite her outer beauty, Lorraine was as ugly as the rest on the inside. All machine and cold. Not an ounce of justice or concern for the lives of those that dared betray their crown.

"More than seven hundred years ago, the world was at chaos. Peace was impossible due to the opinions of those that refused to be governed. They fought - tooth and nail - to destroy and even overthrow the rulers of the time. Sickened by the sinful nature of mankind, the son of the king poisoned his father. He did it because he knew the world needed to be shown what would happen if people lied, cheated, and fought the crown."

"Although chaos followed for a great many years, it eventually vanished -- and not because people lived in fear. No, no. It vanished because the people knew what would happen if disorder were allowed to wreck havoc over the world. All vowed to stomp out traitors. Those that opposed the crown... they faced the most gruesome of deaths."

"It was then when two foolish humans cried out to the gods and begged to have man sin. One offered her life to Balance. The other offered his life to Void. It was because of these two that the world was purged and civilization was forced to restart."

"A hundred years had passed and all seemed to be okay, but there were whispered rumors that darkness was creeping in. The night of darkness was thwarted when a strong, brave, and valiant young woman took control of the land. She, with her own two hands, tried the broken nations back together under one rule. It was she who was able to save mankind from their sinister nature. It was she who brought unity and hope to the people."

"But Balance and Void refused to let her live with a bit of happiness. They both took the lives of her children. All but one, that is. He, the one left alive was our great, great grandfather."

Looking from Eli to Lani, who was acting out the various scenes between her gawking and squeeing, Lorraine rolled her lip up in disgust. "Which now brings us to the Prophecy of the Balance and the Curse of Void."

Without hesitation or respect for the book, Lorraine peeled the ancient-looking book open. "Before the la'Ronk ever came to power, the six gods spoke of seven heroes and a forgotten priest. The forgotten priest was said to be the knot between the string of the heroes."

    "I'm jumping ahead,"
Lorraine moaned. "Let me step back."

"It was the gods that originally spoke of the heroes. They said that when Balance and Void were not strong enough to save the planet and seven heroes would rise from the ashes of those oppressed by the doers of evil. The doers of evil, though I refuse to believe it, are the la'Ronk."

"Needless to say, the gods each crafted a hero's affinity. The Goddess of Life created the Hero of Light. The Goddess of Death was to craft the Hero of Darkness. The God of Earth took control of the Hero of Earth. The God of Wind was given the Hero of Lightning. The God of Water begged to have the Hero of Water. And the God of Fire reigned over the Hero of Fire. It was then when the heroes realized that one was missing - the Hero of Ice. Why was he missing? Well, he wasn't. They just needed a seventh member to tip the scale should the heroes not agree on something. And thus, the Hero of Ice was born."

"With the heroes conceived in the hearts and souls of the gods, the gods have had to wait a lifetime to give deserving humans the chance to be infused with their godly powers. Now, I should mention that the gods and goddesses got to hand pick who they wanted to entrust with their powers. And I should also mention that by giving mortals their power, the gods are rumored to have lost their elemental affinities. But, being gods and all, it's impossible to slay them. That and it is unwise for the la'Ronk would never want to destroy a god as it is the gods that watch over their ruling."

"It was not until recently that Void and Balance came to the High Temple and told the priests that the heroes were being born. They are believed to be anywhere from sixteen to twenty-six years old, as they fall within the timeline."
Lorraine just wanted to add that part on for she knew Lani was going to ask if she could marry one. Of course, within seconds, the girl pouted and crossed her arms over her chest.

"Anyway, the Prophecy of Balance says that...

'Upon the dawn of the bloody sky, the heroes will cast away the hatred of those with too much pride.'

...very cryptic if you ask me. There's not etched in stone date or time, so we can't even be certain it will even happen in this lifetime. And then, the Curse of Void was sent to us in our dreams. It went like this...

'Blood you seek and blood you shall pay.
When the curse of justice reaches the gates of hell,
All the land will be freed from your rule.
Try as you might and fight as you will,
You shant not win this duel.
Blinded by hate and guided by sin,
You will be defeated from within.'

    ...again, it's very mysterious."

Lorraine sighed before her eyes flicked over to the clock on the wall. "Oh, shit! I need to go. I was to meet Lauren minutes ago," and just like that, the woman was gone.

"Well that's lame. She didn't even finish the story. Oh well, maybe next time?" Lani plopped herself on Eli's lap and purred a bit before jumping up from him. With a devious look in her eyes, the young princess plowed her way into the slender male - arms flailing and head moving. "Fear the wrath of the mighty Lani!" she shouted with the utmost amount of glee.
