aaannnd I was inspired by you earlier so I did a quick sketch and fast color of Alcy. Quite different from the gorgeous softness of your style lol, but it was fun anyhow:

What program do you use to color your pieces?

I usually use Sai, though for some of my more painter-y recent ones I was using a Corel trial. Let me know if you want Sai, I have gift copies. ^_^

a91nicole, I think I need some help with Rynn and Alcy as well. Rynn's references have a pretty consistent facial structure but they're also pretty small, as far as the face itself goes. Is this somewhat in line with what you imagine Rynn's face to be? And do you have any better pictures of what Alcy's facial structure is like?

This isn't looking like Rynn to me at all but I am scratching my head as to what to do differently...



I'm gonna do as many sketches as I can at once since I am in sketchy mode and not coloring mode. And that never happens, ever. XD

ha ha sorry girl. Just saw you posting on here. Okay verbal descriptions:

Rynn: High cheekbones, her face is more tall than it is wide. Her hair is actually supposed to be fairly curly, though not tight banana curls. A slight nose, pointed up just a bit at the end. Think catlike, feline. Her hair is fairly untamed and she has a more triangular jaw than a square jaw.

Hair just like this A more narrow face than the second pic though.

As far as colors, her hair is actually red, not the orange red of more "redheads" and her eyes are a dark green.

To correct the sketch, raise the cheekbones to nearly just below the eye, nose turned up the slightest bit, curl the hair and make it a bit more wild. Color always helps. Alcy will be in next post

Alcy: Okay, shes younger than Rynn, so a more rounded face, less angles. Hair has more of a wave and body than a curl. Brown hair with a little red, light green eyes. Not so catlike. turned up nose thouhg, a little, cause she is young. And this type of face, but a different nose:

I'm working on a picture of Deryn and Cas... and since there is nothing better to do since the outside world shut down due to Irene I'm probably going to make more. I will most likely be drawing the female cast first... since it's easier but I might do couples pictures.. like Cain and Alcy. ^^ Doing various things that I can see them doing.

Cas and Deryn sure are fun to draw together though. :3 Yeah, I have an easier time with female faces, too, lol. Though Fort's tends to be a little easier since...errrhhhh...it's somewhat more similar to how I draw female faces. xD

Nope, I've never sprung for any actual drawing programs.. even though I probably should. I just use photoshop.

Doesn't photoshop usually come with most tablets? It came with mine.

Depends on the kind you get. I did get PS Elements with it but not only did it go poof... it wasn't designed for drawing, more so editiing pictures. Was totally not the same x-x Other tablets come with Corel Painter of some sort as well.... but mine didn't x-x;; Probs has to do with the fact that I got one of the cheaper Wacom Tablets xD s'not very big.
