What if Maki just ditches the group? Like he doesn't die or anything so if things do slow down, he can come back? Or maybe have him be one of those lurking characters that shows up, does something, and then leaves. Would certainly add to the comedy! And it would allow you to post whenever you're free

I like Xavi's idea! If you can work up a post to make Maki basically realize the shitty situation they're all in and just be like "yeah screw this, bye!" that way we can still have maki show up when he wants and do whatever he pleases before leaving again! and if the time is ever right you can rejoin with him. This would actually help, because if Irena sees Maki just leave odds are her main goal in this outbreak is to track down Maki and fangirl all over him, and Ian will be all over it too, for all he knows Maki is the last local alive so I'm sure he wants to talk to him a whole bunch and get better at japanese. This would also bring Ian and Irena closer as they both work towards finding Maki!
