"You don't have to go for me Annabelle.. I don't want you to be uncomfortable.." Kevin said as he fixed his soft hair. I smiled and slung my purse over my shoulder. "It's fine, really. I'm sure I won't be the only straight girl there. I'm going for support." I reassured him. He grinned and turned around, hugging me tightly. "You're the bestest friend ever!" I shrugged. "I know."
We took Kevin's car downtown. The festivities would be going on all day. Concerts, shows, people to talk to, rides, food, a parade.. It sounds fun. All of these people seem so happy.
"Roxie!" I heard my name in the crowd and I spun around, grinning as I began to run,"Kevin!!!" I jumped into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist as he spun me around. I chuckled warmly as he set me down,"I'm so glad you could come! We were worried you wouldn't make it!"I was part of the council for the local LGBT community that organized a booth here at the festival. I noticed the girl with him and I smiled,"How rude of me! Kevin, who is your friend?"
Kevin turned and grabbed my hand, pulling me forward. "I'm surprised ya'll haven't met! Roxie, this is Annabelle. Annabelle, this is Roxie." I smiled politely and shook her hand. "It's nice to meet you." I told her a I let go of her hand. She's a really pretty girl.
"It's nice to meet you, too. Have you ever been to a Pride festival?"I asked as we backed towards our booth, and I leaned against he table. I was happy at the turnout, there were lots of people.
I shook my head. "Nope." I said, popping the 'p'. "I'm just here to support everyone. I think it's great that ya'll are open about who you are." I put my sunglasses on and thanked Kevin as he handed me a coke.
"You're straight? Very cool. Well, welcome to the festival, but I can't promise we won't hit on you,"I teased gently, sipping from my water bottle. I looked around as the street began to fill up, couples of all genders were everywhere!
I laughed. "It's not like it hasn't happened before." I replied, looking around as well. Wow. There sure is a lot of people.. Several thousand.. Well, this is a huge Gay Pride city. "Hey Annabelle, you should go try that." Kevin teased, pointing at a kissing booth. I began to laugh so hard I had to hold on to him for support. "I'm not here to be converted!" I teased.
"You can't be converted... It's not a decision,"I said with a smirk, looking up at Kevin,"She's pretty cute, though... I'll go take it,"I said, pulling some money from my right breast and walking to the booth. I handed over my five dollar bill and traded smiles with the girl, leaning in and trading a sweet kiss.
I felt really uncomfortable with the whole situation. I mean.. I'm not against it or anything, I'm just not used to seeing gays and lesbians together.. It's all new for me. I looked away quickly, focusing my attention on a show nearby, A band was playing, and they were pretty good.
I walked back over and noticed the look on Anabelle's face. I rolled my lips together, and Kevin gave me a reassuring look. I didn't want to make her uncomfortable... But this was a Pride parade... She better get use to it... There were tons more of that to see throughout the day. I sat down at my stool, watching everyone.
Kevin dragged me around and we played games. The prizes were weird. I even won some sex toys. Which didn't bother me too much. At least I wasn't winning lesbian porn. Kevin bought me a jacket that has a rainbow on it and I wore it for him. When the evening came we sat in a garden, where there was a stage set up for some bands playing. It was really nice. Like a mini picnic.
After the way Anabelle had reacted earlier I decided to keep some distance. She didn't seem to be super comfortable, but she was supporting Kevin. Towards the end of the night I approached them,"Hey, Kevin. Some of us are going out to the beach on Wednesday. Wanna join? You can come, too, Anabelle."
I looked up, having zoned out for a little bit. "Yeah, sure. What do you think Annabelle?" Kevin asked, looking at me. "Um.. Yeah. Okay." I said politely, smiling lightly.
I looked down at Kevin and nodded,"I'll get you the information... Hum... It was nice to meet you Anabelle... Well... Goodnight guys,"I said as I turned to walk away. I needed to take down the booth and get home. I felt like Anabelle just didn't like me... But, I was going to include her and be nice...
I watched as she left and I sighed, looking down. Have I bothered her somehow? Did I offend her about that kissing booth remark? Or maybe she doesn't like me. I frowned to myself. Why do I care so much about one girl's opinion?
The week went by and the festival turned out to be quite the success for our area. I continued life as usual, my single lesbian life. I'm not different than anyone else... I don't have a tone of toys or porn movies in my apartment... Just regular stuff. Wednesday came around and I leaned on my Jeep, waiting for Kevin and Anabelle to show up so we could leave. I adjusted my bikini top, sighing.
I had a bikini on, but a sundress on top because I didn't wanna just walk around in a bikini. "I swear, she doesn't like me!" I told Kevin as he dragged me out the door, to his car. "Oh, don't assume things, we're gonna have fun!" He told me. He pushed me inside and we drove to the place where we would meet Roxie.
I grinned as they pulled up,"Hey guys!" I jumped up and walked over, hugging Kevin and waving at Anabelle,"If you guys are good, we should just pile into my car and get going. The others already left."
I smiled and waved back at her politely. "Alright, let's do it!" Kevin said excitedly. While we were riding, Kevin said,"Last year, Annabelle beat up 2 girls and 3 guys who were making fun of me. It was great. And she also defended a lesbian at lunch a few weeks ago." I smiled, remembering the events. I just can't stand seeing people being bullied.
"That's awesome,"I said with a smile, throwing it to her in the mirror before focusing on the road again,"I wish there were t so many stereotypes... We're normal people,"I said as I turned onto a dirt road.
"I know.. People always judge before they get to know someone. It's sad, really..." I said softly, looking out the window. Finally she stopped and I got out, stretching out my legs and yawning.
I wrapped my arm over her shoulder after I got out and smiled,"Well, no one is judging anyone around here. Just be you and that'll be great,"I said with a nod before going to the trunk and grabbing the beach age full of towels and toys.
I smiled warmly at her. "Thanks." I said softly. Kevin and I helped her out with everything. We walked to the beach and laid everything down and I was introduced to a lot of nice people, only one other girl being straight. I didn't mind as much though. Everyone was really great.
We didn't hit on each other. To any bystander we were a normal group of teens having a day on the beach. I stood up and slid my shorts off,"Lets get in the water!"
I chuckled and stood up, taking my dress off and tossing it on the side. I jumped onto a girl's back and she ran me out to the water before throwing me inside. We all had so much fun and I gradually began to get out of my shy state, When it began to get dark, we had a bonfire on shore and we all sat around it, making hotdogs and smores.
I put out my towel and laid down on my back, watching the fire. I yawned tiredly, looking around,"Hey, Kelsey, did you ever get that piercing?" She grinned and nodded,"Yeah, it hurt, and I'm still letting it heal, but it is awesome,"she said. We all smiled and shook our heads.
I put my dress back on because I was getting cold and I finished my second smore. "I freaking love chocolate." I told a girl when she gave me an amused look. It was all peaceful, and the weather was great.
I felt the tiredness coming over me and I looked around,"Well guys, I do believe it is time for me to head out. Kevin, Anabelle? You wanna ride with me or someone else?"
