She won't stop sobbing. We tried to raise her from her mourning bed, but she won't move. She screams that common people will hate and blame her for the king's death, but the whispers in the castle are more ominous than even that. The kitchen maid, Aggary, said that the Queen killed Carraigh and that's why we can't find him. I told her to bite her tongue or the god Marralb will take it from her. She shouldn't tell such lies. I want to tell them Queen about what Aggary said, but I'm afraid it will make her even less stable.

Charn gave me extra goat's milk today. I think he wants me to slip out to the stable with him. But if I get a baby and my belly grows big, then the Queen will dismiss me. I'm not to be bought with extra goat's milk.
