OOC : Brookstone

Why was the roleplay Brookstone created?

After some discussion, we realized we didn't have a place of our own where we could all roleplay leisurely. I mean this in a sense that now that Brookstone is created, everyone on WTF has a place to congregate in a roleplay styled setting. You can log in one afternoon, and hang out all night (visit a new tavern, lay claim to a new home, ect.) and come back tomorrow. Because there is no overall plot, you can do as you please, come and go, be anyone you want to be - all while meeting new people!

I also feel I should add that Brookstone is just the beginning. Other free roam worlds will open up over time that you will be able to use the same way. Plus! Brookstone will be apart of Official WTFRPG Lore, with upcoming events!

Hahaha, no worries. And just as heads up - I'm gonna try and keep this as a day by day kind of thing. So after we rummage around a little and I get things situated it will run on a timer.... like,

The day will begin (Realtime) and a new day will begin (in game). So from time to time I may move your characters to rooms if you hadn't already either left the bar for the night or curled up in a corner somewhere. xDD

It's not really as intense as other roleplays. This is more like a mini game that you can come to whenever you have downtime. You should join!

I know that the technology level is pretty low in this world, but, I just wanted to know: how low?

I mean, I don't expect things like cell phones/internet (by extension, most electronics) to work in this world. I'm thinking of something like... Lord of the Rings almost. Sort of. But with a bit of an upgrade to tech (so the world isn't fully out of agricultural basis, but isn't so rooted in, they have nothing else). Idk, just wanted a picture?

I don't intend for my characters (who do possess technology) to bring them into the game. For the most part, their luggage is lost. LOLOL. I mean, they're lost. They have no way to contact the airports to bring their crap to them (or, as I've said in the post), where to bring them too. Hahaha....

Ya know, I've actually been struggling with this for a while. A part of me says minimum to low technology. But then again - it's such a strange / fantastical world that Brookstone is supposedly set in, so who's to say what is and is not possible?

I believe there is electricity, but this is a recent development and it's generated through magic and not modern day means.

Yeah, I imagined that having magic act as the substitute for technology is nice (not just because it'll make Yon's character finally make sense... lol).

Though what about liquid time; like, playing a character in the tavern, while also playing them else where in the RP?

That's when it's up to you. Even if time doesn't seem to be moving as fast out of the tavern, the moment you enter the tavern you a sucked into the 24 hour time until you leave. And no, its probably best not to try to play your character in more than one place at one given time.

Would I be correct in assuming that this place has varying levels of technology and fantasy/supernatural elements like the whole thing is one big wibbly wobbly, timey wimey... thing? Either way, I think I'm going to like it here.

LOL. Very correct! Things in Brookstone are originally pretty far from anything modern - their technology comes from harnessing magic.

But because of the portal, and all the different worlds clashing in one, things are going to begin changing and mixing into one big mash of everything.
