    PENTIMENTO: Story Index

This is the story's technical information. Review it. Memorize it.

Because, you know, it's kind of important. Essentially, this is a log of tasks.

    GUNS, SWORDS, AND LIES

    SCENE ONE: INFORMATION

It has been four days since the bombings and, in those four days, all of London is loud with fear, sick with anticipation. Some are scared to leave their homes—who knows what these horrible terrorists want? Others lurk the streets, their eyes traveling from one face to another—curiously searching out the guilty ones. Everyone wants to know: What is going to happen now? What is going to happen to them?

Fear runs like an electric current through the population as they wait for news—for something. People, previously too quiet to voice their opinions, have begun nodding to the freedom. People, previously resigned to their dull lives, have started to write down their thoughts, printing them in secrecy, and rallying for change.

But even though the movement gains strength (in both morale and numbers), the opposition is still impressively strong. The Rose Guards, an intimidating bunch, have come down in full force on dissenters—making public demonstrations for "Sinners"—a job that, previously, had been left to the undertrained, but averagely capable Imperial Guards. With a top-tier assassination group out cleaning up after the Imperial Guards, everyone is buzzing with suspicion.

And, The Knights of the Round, after four days, have finally gathered together to discuss the issues looming overhead: How do we find them? And how do we make them pay?

Today marks the end of a tensioned, but untouched existence. Today marks the beginning of war.

    SCENE ONE: OBJECTIVES

    The Order;

After having successfully bombed several of the key parliament buildings, the leaders of the organization (and some of their better talents) have gathered within the safety of their London hideout—already preparing for their next job: Breaking into the Imperial Armory.

    The Knights;

Her Holy Empress is not pleased.

It was the Rose Guards' duty to prevent such disasters and its failure to do so is imprinting negatively on the queen. She wants the heads of the people responsible.

Primo has gathered the Knights of the Round together at the Ivory Tower to discuss the next course of action: Retaliation.

    INTERMISSION A: BANG! BANG!

    SCENE INFORMATION

    LOCATION: THE SOUTHERN DOCKS
SETTING: 2AM, THURSDAY (TWO DAYS FROM PRESENT)—MOONLESS.

Reliable sources suggest that Marco Delaney, a notorious arms dealer, and Thomas Greer, a well-connected man, is preparing to make a large transaction of military-grade weapons (including explosives).

Unfortunately, the deal will take place in the heavily obstructed docks and an assault (frontal or otherwise) will be made difficult. It hardly helps that accompanying the two men are additional firepower.

ENEMIES: These are the list of targets.

Marco Delaney is a smooth talker with a penchant for pretty girls. He likes having fun and a good cigarette break. But despite his questionable hobbies (which, assuredly, they are questionable), he is an adept Machina-user (Fire). The location or the type of Machina he wields is unknown, but it is, perhaps, best, not to underestimate him. After all, he has to have some talent to get to where he is today.

Henchmen are bound to be everywhere. Roughly twenty to thirty men are stationed around the perimeter and heavily armed. While not equipped with Machina, they are still able to dish out pain and, in some cases, death. Careful which corners you turn and then where you turn.

Thomas Greer is not a man who fights or he is not a man known to fight. Instead, he hires talented bodyguards to protect and carry out his wishes.

Jericho James was and is a wanted man. He has evaded capture for over a decade now and is considered deadly by everyone—officially and unofficially. Off the records, the Knights have had their eyes on him for a while, but, believing the man to be untamable, have not approached him about joining. He specializes in guns (carrying two revolvers, both carrying his signature Fire Machina). He is infamous for his special bullets—fire balls. He does not need physical bullets, but does carry them on occasions.

Brandy Gire is an alias and his appearance has yet to be verified. He is suspected to be Stephen Stone, a man who had murdered a family of four in Greece. Stone disappeared into the wind shortly after the incident and, as of then, has not been found. In any case, Gire is an illusionist.
    INTERMISSION A: OBJECTIVES

In order to better outfit the rebellion against the Empire, The Order has decided to take over a private transaction between Marco Delaney and Thomas Greer. Unfortunately, there will be resistance—expect and prepare for a skirmish. Marco Delaney is not without his henchmen and Thomas Greer, a man with various connections, has come with two bodyguards—Jericho James and Brandy Gire.

If necessary, take out any and all guards who stand in the way, but avoid creating too much noise as it might attract further unwanted attention (Imperial Guards, Rose Guards). When safe, return to the London safe house and deposit the stolen goods.

Note: The London safe house is NOT the Hideout.

    - Retrieve the shipment.
    - Eliminate anyone who stands in the way.
    - Return safely to the London safe house.

    INTERMISSION B: ONE DEAD

    SCENE INFORMATION

    LOCATION: THE EASTERN MOORS
SETTING: THURSDAY (TWO DAYS FROM PRESENT)—MOONLESS --> CLOUDY.

Located somewhere within the overgrown grass and foggy outlook is a two-level, medium-sized compound belonging to The Order. The entrance is hidden by a thick growth of untamed grass and low-hanging fog. According to sources, the entrance is marked by a simple stone arrangement, stacked in a rudimentary triangular shape.

In any case, locating the entrance is the least of anyone's worries. Guarded by 50 well-armed activists, taking down the compound will be no easy task. And, to complicate matters, Machina will be thrown into the mix.

ENEMIES: These are the list of targets. Primo expects few to no survivors.

Randall Cain is the head of operations at this particular stronghold. He is a man in his early forties and he has the scars and the wisdom to back it up. Having served as a soldier (stationed somewhere along the border of the Asiatic Alliance), Cain has received adequate training when it comes to combat and, during his days of cover operations, he has learned the finer points of Machina usage. With his Water Machina, which he wears on his index finger, right beside his marriage ring, he is capable of dealing deadly blows. Careful, ice from a Machina doesn't melt as easy or as nice as regular ice.

Jan Keller is second-in-command, a position he shares with Sabrina Torres. He is the tactical thinker of the group and a talented sharpshooter, able to hit a mark up to fifty feet away. And, like his captain, Keller is also a familiar user of Machinas. His training is unknown and his past is, for the most part, a mystery, but his skills with illusions is nothing to question. Able to construct deep-level illusions, Keller can create any levels of defense necessary.

Sabrina Torres has a warrant on her head. She's wanted for a variety of crimes (some petty, some not). She's an explosive expert, having been one of the people responsible for the bombing of London. With a sharp eye for detail, Torres is a rather perceptive individual. She's quick on her feet and it hardly helps that she gets a boost from her Machina—Lightning. Unlike most, she doesn't wear her Machina like a ring and she certainly doesn't keep it on her weapons (daggers). Instead, she has them embedded into her footwear, making it difficult for her opponent to separate her from her power source.

Order Members will be equipped with Machinas, weapons, and whatever else. There are guards on station and, despite the low-level threats of an invasion or of a discovery, will be on the look out. Security in this compound is strict.
    INTERMISSION B: OBJECTIVES

Primo wants the entire place to be taken apart. He wants all the information available and he wants as few survivors as possible. He doesn't want this to turn into a medi-fest so it will be best if the entire situation wasn't too loud or attracting.

The compound is two levels deep and the whole thing is underground. Explosives can lead to structural damage, which might cause an internal collapse, but will destroy any leads the Knights can use.

    - Find the compound's entrance.
    - Eliminate everyone.
    - Recover relevant materials, if any.
    - Return to the Ivory Tower.
