    Think of this as a user's manual for the game. Consult it religiously.

    « ♛ | MACHINAS ;

    Q: WHAT ARE THEY?

    Vivos ex Machina (Machina) are, in short, weapons. When "equipped," the Machina gives certain powers or abilities to the user.

    Some of the abilities are standard fire-flinging spells while others are unique in their properties. The most common type of Machina are from elemental origins (fire, water, earth, etc).

    HOW DO YOU USE A MACHINA?

    In order to tap into the energy stored into the Machinas, the Machinas must be "equipped." There are several ways to "equip" a Machina.

    First, Machinas can be embedded into the flesh. This is the most direct link to a Machina and offers the greatest connection (thus providing the strongest raw damage output), but it is also extremely dangerous and life-threatening. The practice of melding flesh with Machina has been banned for centuries now and for good reason.

    People who had Machina infused into their skin suffered from body aches, hallucinations, and, an eventual burning of the skin around the jewel. Scientists later discovered that the energy from the Machina was "poisonous" to the human body.

    Second, Machinas can be attached to weapons or accessories (such as rings, earrings, or gloves). As long as the object the Machina is embedded into is connected to the user, the user can tap into the energy source and summon flames, hail, or tornadoes.

    Machinas embedded into weapons are, however, slightly different from its jewelry counterparts. When a Machina is connected to a weapon (such as a gun), the gun itself will exhibit traits true to the Machina's properties. For example, if a revolver has a Fire Machina attached to its handle, the bullets shot can retain the Machina's properties (e.g. exploding bullets, etc). How the Machina affects the weapon is left up to the user and, most times, will reflect the user's personal preference or style.

    WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE GETS SEPARATED FROM THEIR MACHINA?

    If a user loses connection with his or her Machina, he or she will not be able to manipulate the jewel's energy. If they've started a magical fire, they will no longer be able to control it (unless they can reestablish a connection). If they summoned illusions, the illusions will fall away immediately.
