The Premise
So, the other night I was just laying back, listening to music and nothing else. A certain song came on, and it really inspired me! Before I knew it I was visualizing this character in my head... who she was, what she looked like and so on. But thing is, I don't want her to dissappear! I'd like to keep her around, and maybe end up using her!
The Idea
Take a song of your choosing and give it a good listen, use the mood of the song or the words of the lyrics to inspire you into writing up a character. It can be anything from a simple line or two or the whole song in its entirety, just use it as a tool to create! Then post your character here for us to enjoy. I will make a comprehensive list for the front page so they can be found easily~.
The Benefit
Practice makes perfect, doesn't it? At the very least this can satisfy those like me who simply love creating characters, but can also be used to sharpen and broaden your creative writings skills! And who knows, you may end up coming up with a character that you love so much it springs a whole storyline for a new roleplay! Anything is possible.
An Optional Game
This is for those who like a real challenge! Post here asking for someone to supply you with a song to use as your inspiration and create a character off of that. You never know what kind of song someone could give you so it will really make you test your skills as a writer.
A Request
Please try and take this seriously. I'm not asking you to write an over the top in depth character with paragraphs upon paragraphs on information but at least put some kind of effort into it. Also, possibly a little snippit about how the song inspired you or what kind of story you see your character in would be fun to read~ but not mandatory.

ugghh. this is kind of irrelevant, but, i was skimming/browsing through old things and, belatedly, realized that i had passed up on a perfect character design. i haaaaate it when i have a character for a setting, but forget about them (for reasons unknown) and then go onto make a new character (which pales in comparison for setting-fit) and... ugggghhhh. killmenow. wtf. .____.;
i wish there was a program that would just be like: STOP. BEFORE YOU SPEND HELLA HOURS DRAFTING, WE WOULD LIKE TO INFORM YOU THAT YOU ALREADY HAVE A CHARACTER (NOT CURRENTLY IN USE) THAT FITS THIS SETTING. WOULD YOU LIKE TO USE IT INSTEAD?
... okay. i'm done now. lol. have to get ready for classes... lolol

I don't lose characters anymore thanks to this website. I've never stored characters prior to this, and they usually got lost in the games they were in, and then the games would die, and then I would lose them.

I made a character for a role-play that didn't pan out and... I just realized that he would have fit in (rather nicely) with the scarily demented and psychotic bunch that is currently occupying True Neutral's role-play, lol. But ahhh. Oh well — can't be helped and all that good stuff.
AND YES. I HAD A GREAT DAY! lol. After my test, I felt so free and happy and... yeah, haha.

I am actually a fan of 30 seconds to mars- I picture a lot of their songs as warrior types and sort of self sacrificing.
I love this thread because I actually make little soundtracks for all of my characters and games. *chuckle* I even post them for others to listen to. I am a music junky like that.
I think 30 Seconds to Mars is a great band with fantastic lyrics. They're songs always mean something, and that's something a lot of bands can't say. Its why I tend towards rock really, the songs just mean more.
and OMG I'm a music junkie too Utopia! Music is just to phenomenal. Hence Why Rosalyn has four songs linked on her profile lol. Also making roleplay playlists really helps with getting in the mood for a certain rp.
