Dark
eyes peer out from dark, almost navy hair.
It sweeps towards the left side of his head and face with wisps falling
in front of his left eye. It falls onto
his neck and stops at his shoulders. His
skin is tanned, not as dark as most Kerrians and not as pale as Tryisians but a
little in between, a hint at his lineage.
His favorite colored clothing is dark red or maroon. His clothing usually consists of scarfs,
vests and tunics and loose comfortable pants made of only the finest materials. At 30 years old, he’s not new to battle and
has a few scars running up and down his arms and back to prove it. He’s 6’1” with an athletic build (like most
Kerrians) although doesn’t particularly like to be athletic but can if necessary.
The
first word that comes to mind when describing Enris is not handsome or sexy
(although both of those are true) but blunt.
He means what he says and says what he means. It’s not that he doesn’t think before
speaking, he just doesn’t care or see the point. He thinks it’s a waste of time to say things
that you don’t mean just because you’re afraid of what others think of you or
because society says it’s the right thing to do. Not to say that he doesn’t have social
graces, he does. He’s polite and greets
people properly (he’s not rude!) but once you actually get into a conversation
with him his bluntness begins to show itself.
He’s definitely not the one to ask “Does this make me look fat?” because
he will tell you if you look fat and
not only that but he’ll keep going and say everything else that’s wrong with
it. Perhaps that’s why he has yet to be
married. . .
Enris
is a little distant towards others.
After all the fighting he went through, he lost some, if not most, of
his optimism. He has seen how easily
people can die and perhaps that is why he distances himself from others and yet
he does not completely shut people out.
As mentioned before, he still greets people and talks with them but he’s
always careful not to get too attached.
Why get attached to someone who could die the next day? It’s pointless.
He
is also prideful but he has good reason to be.
He is one of the best Innates out there, he knows it and so does
everyone else. He doesn’t think he’s
better than everyone, he just thinks--knows his magical ability is. He isn’t conceited towards other people
unless they challenge him or question his ability. Enris does not get angered often (he has
learned to control his anger over the years) but question his ability to fight
and his control will start to slip and you just might find yourself regretting
ever doubting him.
He
has a strong moral compass and rarely deviates from it. His sense of right and wrong is not black and
white, but it’s still very strong. He
won’t do something he perceives as wrong but will fight with every ounce of strength
he has for something he sees as right.
Don’t get the idea that Enris is out to bring justice to the world,
because he’s not. He just simply acts
accordingly and strongly to what he feels should or should not be done.
As
an Innate, Enris uses magic. As a
Kerrian, Enris uses very strong magic. His
main focus is controlling the flesh of others.
It is in his blood as his whole lineage was particularly skilled in that
ability. Now, to explain this
ability. Controlling someone’s body is
much like. . .puppeteering. Enris throws
out invisible lines of energy, and much like a spider that can feel the
vibrations from its web, so can Enris feel when someone comes into contact with
his energy lines. When this happens, the
lines attach to that person’s body, digging under the skin to attach firmly to
the muscle. It is in this way that Enris
will have a direct connection to a person’s body. Using his will, he can manipulate the body
part(s) that he has a connection to. He
even uses some finger movement (again like a puppeteer) to help visualize the
control. If that person’s will is
stronger than Enris’s (or any other flesh controller for that matter) they can
fight back and try and take control of the body again, but this is very
rare. Only the strongest willed people
can accomplish this, and there are very few in this world like that anymore. Obviously, if you don’t get caught in Enris’s
web, he can’t control you but because you cannot see the energy lines, you must
feel for them. Only another innate or
someone versed in the magical arts can (or anyone with a hint of magical
ability) can or has the potential to do this.
However, Enris decided years ago to use this, his main ability, as a
last resort only.
Along
with his main focus, he’s also very skilled in controlling metal. This is from the Tyrisian in him. Anything metal he can manipulate, from something
as small as a nail to something as large as an iron ship. He cannot create metal from nothing just as
you can’t create matter from nothing. He
can only manipulate what he is given. No
matter how much he manipulates something, it will always have the same mass
(unless he cuts some off of course). For
example, he can take a sword and bend it and melt it and change it into an ax
but it will always have the same weight and mass as the original sword. The only way something will have more mass
than the original is if he combines two or more objects together.
Enris
prefers long-ranged fighting but can hold his own in close combat as well. He may not be as skilled as someone who specializes
in it, but he can handle himself long enough to get the battle back to his
comfort zone. He carries a couple of
small daggers hidden on his person for this purpose.
Innates
have had a rough history to say the least.
They were originally genetic experiments and elves hunt them for
sport. Enris’s family never let him
forget their history. From childhood his
grandparents would tell him stories of the horrors that were done to their
kind, they would beat it into his head . . . he never forgot.
Enris
came from a family that specialized in controlling other people’s bodies. It was a rare gift and they were also very
good at what they did. They were given
contracts and hired every which way and soon amassed quite a fortune. Despite how far his family had climbed up the
social ladder, they still never forgot where they came from. It was into this rich and history worshipping
family that Enris was born.
Early
on his family could see his potential.
At the age of 5 he was controlling their pets and other various animals,
forcing them to play with him. At the
age of 8 he was learning fighting techniques that were normally taught to
teenagers. At the age of 12 he was sent
out on his first battle.
He
thought he had been ready for his first battle but it was beyond what he had
imagined. Actually seeing people dying
next to him was much different from training where he was described what it was
like. Hearing the screams of fear and
smelling the stench of blood and rot shook him badly. It took him a week to get over the shock
before he finally sucked it in and dealt with it. He returned to training and his family was
pleased to see that the shock had not hindered his skill. If anything it had improved it. Enris wanted to get stronger, strong enough
so that battles like that wouldn’t happen.
He would get strong enough to end things quickly to reduce the amount of
blood shed . . . ideals of a fool.
As
he grew older and more powerful, he realized that what he had dreamed of would
never come true. There would always be
blood and that wouldn’t stop no matter how strong he got or how hard he
tried. If anything, his strength only
brought more death as more and more people wanted to hire him. In the end, he became disillusioned and
stopped trying to “save” the world.
There was nothing he could do for the world, the only thing he could do
was focus on his present actions and hope he didn’t kill too many people. It was around this time, in his early 20’s,
that he decided not to use his flesh controlling skill unless it was absolutely
necessary. He had seen what it could do
and he decided that the less he used it the better.
Now
here he is at 30 years of age, joining the Ardent who searches for an all-powerful
relic. Why does he join? He doesn’t know. He has hypotheses but even he doesn’t know
for sure.
His
favorite kind of food is meat, steak preferably but any meat will do. He’s never gotten married which disappoints
his family but with going from contract to contract he’s never had time for
romantic thoughts.
