"Yeah?" she asked. "I don't really remember my home. Or anything... All I remember is fire..." she frowned and shook her head making the smile reappear. "but I'm here now so that makes me happy. I actually have people now." she sipped her hot chocolate before a yawn escaped her and she rubbed at her eyes.
"I'm really glad I met you Tay." then she hiccuped not realizing she had drank down all of the contents of her mug. Her cheeks flushed but she was still smiling.
-
Sure. We might want to wait until tomorrow at least, though. It's getting pretty late and you know it isn't safe in the forest. He looked up at the sky. It was getting dark. Of course, if they went tomorrow, he would have to wear his hoodie up the whole time. My hoodie... I still need that back from Josephine. He blushed slightly, thinking about her. He smelled something in the air again. It definitely wasn't the witch and Hiroshi had already left.
Hold on...I smell something. Other people. They're in town. He started to get kind of worried again. He decided that he should go and find out who it was. Come on Mary. We need to see who else is here. He began to walk off slowly, following the scent.
-
Mary nodded absently, following after Damien. "We did run into some people earlier. There was a bear man, a boy who reminded me of a wolf, and a girl who's aura looked like fire. She confused me. Even my grandpa, who could only use fire magic, didn't look like fire." She frowned, looking up at the vampire. "The wolf boy isn't a shifter. I don't know what he is, but he isn't a shifter." She smiled, grabbing Damien's hand and swinging it back and forth with her own. "Do you know what he could be? Lenna might know. She knows a lot of things from when she was traveling with the warlock."
-
Other people? He said quietly to himself. More people? How come all these people seem to be coming at once? He thought that it was very odd. First Josephine, then Hiroshi and that witch, and now even more people. He listened to Mary as she explained the people. Fire? Hmmmm... That's weird. He thought about it for a moment, only to hear about the boy who seemed like a wolf. That put him on edge, since she said he wasn't a shifter. Werewolf. Great. He had met a few werewolves while traveling. He met two a couple years back. They pretty much tried to kill him. Apparently werewolves and vampires didn't get along very well, although he had no idea why. He's probably a werewolf. He said quietly. He smiled though, as Mary grabbed his hand.
He followed the scent to a house. He was nervous now. He knocked lightly on the door, kind of hoping there wouldn't be an answer.
-
Reese smiled down at her. "Good guess. You're right." His face flushed and he looked away suddenly. "A-although I'm surprised. Normally people are scared of me... the cute and cuddly image doesn't normally come to mind when they see me..." His voice trailed off a bit with the unfortunate memories but he shook his head and they disappeared.
He scratched his head. "Anyway... uh, the town should be right up here." He said pointing up ahead into the dark trees.
-
Maggie was smiling when the knock echoed thoughout the little house. The cup shattered in her hands because of the growing heat, but at least there were no actual flames this time.
Dropping the shards to her lap and ignoring the little cuts, Maggie instinctively scooted closer to Tay, reaching for one of his arms. "I-I... I thought there wasn't anyone else here." She said softly. There was a heavy note of fear in her voice as she held on to him for comfort, but at the same time she was afraid to almost touch him. She didn't want to burn him either.
-
"Well, maybe Reese is back.." Tay go up and walked over to the door to Maggie's room and looked back. "Stay here okay?" He then walked out of the doorway and down the hall to the front door. He pressed his ear to the door to try and hear who was on the other side of it. For some reason he could tell that it wasn't Reese, but he figured he'd open the door anyway.
He turned the doorknob and opened the door rather fast and started up at what seemed to be a man and a girl. "The hell are you two doing here?" His eyes were a little wide as he stared up at the two strangers. Where did they come from? By the looks of it they had been here longer than he had, but he hadn't ever sensed them before..
-
Damien was suprised by the door suddenly swinging open. He stepped in front of Mary slightly, just in case. Then he saw the boy. Oh my God! he thought. He looks a lot like Derek. It was true. They had the same color eyes, and similar type of body, although he hadn't seen him n years. The hair was different though, being blond and brown. Derek's hair was always dark brown, just like Damien's was. He shook his head slightly.
I could be asking you the same question. He sort of growled. He raised an eyebrow at the boy, wondering what his move would be. He was still kind of nervous, knowing that the boy was a werewolf. Damien did feel a little more comfortable though, when he saw the shock on his face. Obviosly, he thought he was alone.
-
Tay folded his arms across his chest like a defeated child. "Well, I asked you first!" He looked up at the male. There was something off about this guy. He couldn't quite put his finger on it but somehow, he didn't like him.
His big brown eyes glared up at the male who a good many inches taller than himself, which somehow made him dislike the guy even more. He moved more into the middle of the door way, just in case they were going to try to come in. No freakin way.
-
He chuckled a little at the comment. He showed his fangs purposely to show the kid he wasn't someone hat he should mess with. The boy was acting childish, but he decided to go along with his games. Alright, I live here. Your turn. He smirked.
He watched the kid move into the middle of the door way. He was hiding something. If it was just him, he wouldn't keep them from going inside, although he wasn't planning on it anyways. What's he hiding? He sniffed a bit. A person. There's somebody with him. He smiled to himself. He was making the kid nervous. That was good. He seemed a little too confident though. That wasn't a good sign if they didn't get along. If they did though, that was a whole other matter.
-
Maggie opened her mouth to protest but it was too late. Tay was on his feet and gone. She sat there, nervously as she heard the muffled sound of people talking.
Taking deep breaths she tried to keep her temperature down, but it was really hard and took quite a bit of effort. Slowly she moved the broken pieces of cup from her lap and set them on the dresser before she stood to her feet. and cautiously went to the bedroom door to try and get a better idea of what was going on. What's he doing? she thought. If it was just Reese he should have been back by now... She stepped out into the hallway. Should she go further and look for him? He had told her to stay put, but she didn't want to be alone...
-
"Well, I live here too. Now go away." Tay didn't want anything to do with this man. He unfolded his arms and reached for the door handle beside him. He got a firm grip around it and continued to glare up at the man.
His glare deepened when he was that the guy had fangs. "Go away vampire. I hate you." Tay slammed the door shut and walked angrily into the kitchen where he began to munch on a chocolate bar.
-
She jumped at the should of the slamming door, a few sparks shooting from her hands and skittering along the walls. "no no no no no!" She mumbled as she smothered the smoldering wood with her hands. Frowning as she looked at the scorched wall, Maggie turned her gaze down the hall towards the kitchen where she heard someone shuffling around. Tay, she hoped.
Slowly she walked into the kitchen. "Tay?" She said softly. "Is everything okay?" He seemed angry, the way he was tearing into that candy bar. "W-who was at the door?" She wasn't sure if she should be asking or not but if it had him in such a sour mood, she thought maybe she should know who else was out there.
-
"Who could be scared of a bear? They're adorable! and, you're a cutie too so I dunno why people would be scared of you" She giggled up at him. She really had no idea who could be scared of this guy. He was handsome and kind..There was nothing to be scared of.
"Is the town small? How many people live there?" She blinked and looked over in the direction Reese had pointed to. She couldn't really see much of anything, so she had to use her imagination.
-
Damien raised an eyebrow when the boy said he lived there. Soon after, he felt the air hit his face when he had slammed the door. Okay, now I'm irritated. First of all, he can't hate me when he just met me. I had barely said five words to the kid! Second of all, He has no right to live here, especially when he slams a door in my face. You're not gunna show me up today, kid. He thought back to Derek, and how he seemed like him. He was so wrong.
He turned and crouched down, so he was below Mary's eye level, but not too low. Mary, I need you to head home, okay? Go back to Lenna and tell her I have a bit of a problem. I'll be back as soon as I get this figured out. He stood back up, and grabbed the door handle. He sighed, and then turned it and stepped inside, staring at the boy in the kitchen.
-
Maggie turned around when the door opened. She expected to see Reese standing there but that wasn't who was there. Her bright blue eyes got wide and flickered red as sparks flashed between her fingers. She stifled back a small cry as she bumped into the counter behind her, burning small hand prints into the table behind her.
"T-T-Tay?!" She looked between the two guys for some kind of explanation of what was going on as she tried to calm the heat she was expelling into the room.
-
Tay spun around, whipping the chocolate bar at the man's face. "I said go away! What, are you deaf?" He looked back over at Maggie, frowning a little. He had no idea why he was acting like this. He figured, it was all that stranger guy's fault.
"What the hell do you want? Go back to your freakin coffin or whatever it is you blood suckers sleep in!" Tay was very furious that the man had intruded, especially since he knew now what the man was. In truth, he had no reason to hate the guy, he seemed friendly enough, but the animal side of him said otherwise. And once again, it got the best of him. "Ugh, just leave"
Tay wandered off further into the kitchen and rummaged through a bag of food to keep his mind off of what was currently happening.
-
No. I'm not deaf. I frankly just don't care. He took a few more steps towards the kid. He looked off to the side and saw a girl standing there. She seemed afraid. I think it's pretty obvious that I don't want to be talked to like you just did. I'm not here to play games kid. All I want to know, is why the hell you walk in here, acting like you own the place.
He stepped forward again, and noticed all the food that the boy had. You stole it all, didn't you? He asked quietly, while grinning pretty evilly. He knew he didn't have to ask, he could tell he was right, but he wanted to see the werewolf's reaction anyway. He could have been nice to the kid, if he didn't act so full of himself right away. He really hated his attitude, although he know he could be the same way sometimes. He mentally cursed himself for noticing the similarity.
-
"Ugh..Where are those cookies?" Tay ignored the man. If he wasn't going to leave, then Tay figured that if he just ignored the bastard, he would eventually go away. "Mags, do you know where those white cookies went?"
Oh your being real mature. Shut up! Tay made a low growl at himself and went to go look in the cupboards to see if he could find something. He wasn't really looking for anything, he just was trying to get his mind off of things that were making him angry. And he was trying hi best to pretend that there was not a vampire standing in the house.
-
Fine. Suit yourself. I'll let Lenna take care of you later. He smirked, knowing she would beat his ass if she wanted to. He looked over at the girl who's name was apparently Mags. He assumed it was a nickname. He nodded at her, and then went over to the door. He opened it and walked outside. He slammed the door behind him.
He walked off towards Lenna's house. He assumed Michael and Josephine were still there. He blushed a little, thinking about her. What the hell is wrong with me? You like her. No I don't! Yes, you do. But I just met her! So? He moaned, trying to get hte conversation out of his head. He walked up to Lenna's house, and knocked on the door.
-
Maggie swallowed the lump in her throat as she watched the tense exchange between the two of them. Even when Tay asked her a question she couldn't answer. But eventually the other guy walked out after threatening them with yet another person, lovely. She was scared and confused. This guy just walked into their house and all Tay did was throw a candy bar at him! Wait Their house? She just met this guy what was she thinking?
Yeah he's letting me stay here but that doesn't mean anything. He's just nice. Besides we just met, friends, maybe is as far as I might be able to say.... she shook her head. i'm not normal. I'd never be lucky like that, even if i do kind of like him. Her face flushed some with the thought.
-
Mary hurried back to her house when Damien told her to, a little startled that the boy had been so rude. It seemed he didn't like Damien much, probably because he's a vampire, but that's still no reason to be so rude. She burst through the door, panting from running all the way back. Looking around, she groaned when she didn't see Lenna. Michael, where's Lenna? Damien needs her to help him deal with some trouble maker werewolf."
Just as Michael was about to reply, Lenna trudged in the back door, carying a semi-eaten deer carcas. Not only that, but her face, chest, and hands were covered in blood. She grunted, walked over to the deep freezer and dumped the deer in. After that, she trudged upstairs to go wash off and change.
Mary just stared after her. "Please tell me she didn't go hunting again? We have enough meat to feed everyone for at least a year by now." Hearing a knock on the door, Mary went to answer it. Seeing Damien standing there, she pointed up the stairs. She's up there. She went hunting again. Came back with a mangled deer this time."
-
Damien waited until the door opened. He looked down and saw Mary. He gave her a weak smile, and then nodded when she said Lenna was upstairs. He walked inside and headed straight upstairs. He looked around. Lenna. He called. He didn't want to just start opening doors, in case she was changing or something.
Where are you? He asked quietly. He waited for some sort of response while leaning against the wall. He was exhausted. It had been a long day; meeting all those people, carrying Josephine all that way, getting in an argument with both Lenna and that irritating little werewolf. Stupid kid. He has no idea what he's getting himself into. He smirked, and then rubbed his hand over his face.
-
Lenna opened the bathroom door after hearing Damien calling for her. She didn't bother replying, just going back to washing her face off. She had managed to get nearly all the blood off her hands, it was just the stuff clinging to her neck and face now. It irritated her whenever she lost control like that. She was supposed to be more than just an animal now, and yet she still acted as if she lived in the wild.
She looked up to watch Damien in the mirror. He looked tired, and troubled by something. It had also taken him and Mary longer than she had assumed it would to find those other new people find houses. She raised an eyebrow in a silent question of why he had been looking for her, knowing he would know what it meant.
-
His face turned a bright red. Cute. That wasn't exactly what he was going for, but it was better than what he normally got so he'd take it. He looked down at her with a crooked smile, before looking back up.
"I'm not too sure how many people live there honestly. I just got there myself. I know there a few others because we bumped into them earlier but, besides that most of the town looked abandoned." He paused. "Watch your step..." With out thinking about it he grabbed one of her hands and gently helped the woman up some rocks. Her hand was cold, but so small and delicate in his own rough and scarred hand.
Reese hadn't meant to just grab her without thinking. He swallowed hard, his pulse pounding in his ears as he looked at her, hoping she didn't mind the kind gesture. Some women didn't like the whole chivalry thing anymore.
-
I met another kid. He said, somewhat quietly when she raised an eyebrow at her. Two, actually. One was a werewolf. The other, well I don't know really. He walked into the bathroom, and pulled himself up to sit on the counter next to the sink. He winced, remembering the wound on his side. Man, I want to kill that kid. He growled.
He looked at Lenna. She was washing the blood off her face. You need to be a bit more gentle when it comes to your hunting. He joked. He was trying to make the situation a little more light. He was also stressed right now, and needed to get his mind off it.
-
Lenna startled, looking at Damien in shock when he said there was a werewolf in the town. She knew all about the animosity between vampires and werewolves through her travels with her old master, and it wasn't pretty. She wasn't surprised when her friend said he wanted to kill the boy. Drying off her face, she gave Damien a sardonic look when he said she needed to be more gentle. "It's instincts, I can't help it. Just like I assume that he was rude to you, which would also be instinct, for him."
She sighed, checking in the mirror to make sure that all the blood was off before drying her face. "You want me to go see why he in Teelu, I guess? You go make sure Michael make dinner and look after Josephine."
-
He was a bit more than just rude. He mumbled. Instincts. God, I hate instincts. They're always getting in the way. When she asked if he wanted her to go, he smiled. She always seemed to know what he was going to say. You're the best!
He hopped off the counter and straightened up his bunched up shirt. He looked at the two of them in the mirror. He brushed his hair out of his face and then nodded when Lenna mentioned him making dinner. Thanks. He said as he began to walk out of the bathroom to head downstairs.
-
Lenna nodded as Damien left, chucking under her breath when Damien started checking over his appearance before leaving. She checked to make sure she had no more blood on her anywhere before going to change her shirt. It wouldn't do to see a werewolf with a bloody shirt. She put on a long sleeved black shirt before walking back downstairs, ruffling Michael's hair and patting Mary on the head on her way out.
Walking down the street, she followed the scent trail she knew belonged to her vampire friend. Finally coming upon a house closer to the edge of town than all of the other occupied ones, she stopped outside the door. She took a deep breath, smelling a very young werewolf, and a cross between a person and cinders. There was also the faint scent of a bear, so there was probably another shifter living here. Sighing, she knocked on the door, being careful to keep her claws away from the wood so that she didn't scratch.
-
"Ugh! What is it now? I'm sorry Maggie..Are you hungry? You can help yourself to whatever you want.." He rubbed the back of his head and reluctantly walked over to the front door. Expecting it to be that vampire dude again he got all hot headed again.
But when he opened the door, he saw an older woman. "Eh, who're you?"
