Hearing the men talk, Sasha glanced at her own ring. She frowned, examining it, and touching the gem embedded on it, "So y'mean this bulky thing has an actual purpose?" she asked, raising an eyebrow, "'Cause it hasn't done anything helpful for me. I'd remove it if I could, but it won't come off!"
After listening to Volitaire speak, The captain knew he was of Storm. A clear necromancer lingering with kids of pure hearts. "I've never had the ring myself, and the last Storm ringholder to walk on earth was over 50 years ago." He got himself into a comfortable position to explain. "There's been a long line of ringholders dating back to B.C"
Then, Sasha spoke, and it caused the captain to laugh a little, but made it short due to the possibility of being attacked out of rage. "I'm sorry. I should go over what the rings are, shouldn't I?" "I'm sure Enki did before, but a refreshment would be nice." Kenji said.
The captain nodded in response. He looked at the time clock on the wall and noticed the time. 3:30 "Well, it seems I have overstayed. I will take my leave now, but know that when you need us, we'll be there." The man stood up and left, closing the door behind him. Enzo shuffled about in his bed, mumbling something inaudible.
As she unraveled his bandages and touched his temples, the pain that throbbed through his body began to subside. "Well, so as long as you keep it on the down-low. The students are from a school called Sorcerers. It's a place for magically gifted students to broaden their abilities, meet new people, and learn to integrate into society." His eyes finally adjusted to the light in the room, and he rubbed the bridge of his nose. Though his vision was fuzzy he was able to make out the girl who helped him, JD, Silver and David. "Thank you for all your help, I appreciate it. And JD, thank you for getting me to safety, if it wasn't for you, I don't think I'd be here. And David, I'm really sorry you had to witness what you did..." Marcus's voice took on a much more serious tone, as he looked around the room so more, "I want you all to know, I'm sorry for everything that happened, and I'm really glad everyone is okay." He felt okay enough to sit up a bit more, revealing more of the bandages that littered his abdomen. "Regardless though, thank you all for visiting me. It means a lot, to see how much you guys care. If there is anything I can do for any of you, just tell me."
David walked right in and nodded at the woman who opened the door for them. He simply shrugged as Marcus apologized. "Hey, I've seen worse. No biggie. Just wish I could have been a bit more help..." He sighed. In reality, he wished that Marcus hadn't gotten involved at all. He figured he could have handled the beast even without his daggers. Or at least distracted him long enough to prevent anyone else from getting hurt. David leaned against the wall and took his glasses off, rubbing his eyes and then his nose. "I.. Need some eye drops or something.." David put his glasses back on, blinking a bit. His vision, for some reason, was a bit foggy, but nothing serious. He probably just needed some sleep.
Volitaire watched the man leave the room and let out a sigh. "So who exactly was he? And where's Eos? She wasn't in the room and I could've sworn she went back with JD after last night." He began to feel a bit worried. She wasn't anywhere in sight and a lot happened last night. He hoped she wasn't hurt. "But Kenji, about what I said before. The training regimen with this ring. What could you propose? Getting so fatigued while using this won't help in Gaze." He walked closer to the bed and eyed Enzo for a brief moment then turned his glare back to Kenji for his answer.
Kenji stood up from his miniature chair and hopped down to the floor. "We need to train everyone, actually." He walked over to the bed where Enzo was. "..The more you fight with the ring's additional power, the more in tune you'll be with it." He explained while examining Enzo. It was clear that he would have woken up by now, but something else was wrong with him. He seemed terribly sick. Kenji took a look at his right eye. "...Enzo had recently obtained his killing intent." He said, then backed away from him. "For Soulless like Enzo, that means he recently had a desire to kill someone."
Silence fell on the room after Kenji said that. It really made the topic 'What did Aleister do?' pop up into their heads. Kenji didn't have the time to ask Enzo about the black and green flame he had, and it made him regret waiting so long to ask.
To shake off the thought, Kenji turned to Volitaire. "Eos isn't even in the building." He told him. "I'm picking up everyone's ring presence but hers."
He grunted before leaving out the room. "I gotta go find her, I'll be back!" He rushed out the room and back to Eos' to grab his jacket. He grabbed it and ran out the room and down the hallway, taking the steps instead of the elevator and ran out the Hotel. "In a city like this who knows what happened to her.." He looked around every corner, went down every alleyway, any store he possibly could, and looked inside any cars. She wasn't anywhere nearby exactly, but he did hope she was still wandering around.
Sasha was ready to punch the Magic Council man, but he instead left because of the time. Sasha snorted; people and their schedules.
As Kenji explained their situation, Sasha frowned, "But how'd we get these things to work?" she said, confused, staring at her ring and then towards Kenji.
The silence was everywhere after Kenji finished what he had been saying. Sasha kept shooting worried glances towards the sleeping Enzo, obviously concerned, but trying not to show it. She barely noticed when Volitaire dashed out of the room.
After Volitaire had left, Kenji had been keeping an eye on Enzo, and keeping a tab on Sasha. Some moments had passed, then he asked "Do you like him? I know he likes you, a lot. I'm sure he told you what he was." Kenji took off his fedora and set it aside. "He's having trouble admitting it, but he couldn't stop thinking about you after the restaurant deal. He was acting funny since then." He took a moment to fix his hair and sideburns.
"You're his life force."
"Do you like him?"
At that, Sasha's cheeks flushed a light pink. "L-like?!" she stammered, "N-no way I-I would like th-that idiot!" As per usual, her words dramatically contrasted her actions. Sasha was blushing fiercely, her hands reaching up to her cheeks, touching them, obviously embarrassed.
H-he couldn't stop thinking about me...?
"I...I mean...I'd just get rejected again if I said anything..." she muttered, almost inaudibly.
"L...life force...?"
Kenji sighed. "That's right. His flames grow depending on his desire to protect. And he basically fights with his soul, which is the Sky flame." He planted his fedora back on his head. "People like you are the reason he's fighting. Nobody else understands that." It almost sounded like Kenji pitied Enzo.
"I'm sure you helped give him his killing intent."
"I...I did?!" The surprise was clear in the girl's voice. Still blushing, Sasha ran a hand through her hair, "I...I had no idea that I meant that much to him..." She flushed a deeper red, "Y-you can't tell him that I was l-like this, okay?!" Sasha said, "O-or I'll hit you..."
“Why Silver- it is a bloody small world. I haven’t seen you all day, and here we are in the last place I was suspecting you.” JD remarked and smiled. About that time the girl from the Snake Pit- Kira JD thought that was her name- opened the door and ushered them in. Their teacher seemed to be on the mend, but it saddened the boy that he was in that bad a shape to begin with.
“Ah hey- sorry I couldn’t have been there sooner- sort of a cluster fuck coming out of the music joint. Glad to see you are in one piece though- mostly. Sorry about your pinky though, but hey considering the usage of fingers it doesn’t really serve a purpose. As long as you have your index finger and thumb- you are in business.” It was then he offered a bit of a salute, “but you are welcome. Anything for a teacher of- well- whatever you teach- I’m sure it is important.”
JD laughed a bit before turning back to Silver- he smiled at her. Honestly he wanted some alone time with her, but alas he wasn’t about to announce that in front of a complete stranger, a teacher, and Obsessed Fanboy- so he just let the moment pass.
Marcus gave a hearty chuckled and returned JD's salute. "Yeah, you're right, I still got my important fingers at least. And I'll be teaching the 'Mental Abilities' and 'Society Integration' classes." He was beginning to grow restless in the bed, so he threw back the covers and swung his legs out over the side. "Oof, I'm gonna get bed sores if I lay here any longer. I'm just going stretch my legs out a bit." With a few uncomfortable movements, he got to his feet and walked towards the balcony, looking outside at the passing cars below. "It's almost as if it never happened. Like it was some sort of day dream to them all." He turned back towards the others and smiled, "Would one of you like to escort me to my room so I can grab a change of clothes and my extra pair of glasses?"
Kenji scoffed. "Hit me?" He replied in an interested tone. He shook his head and walked out to the door, but stopped just as he opened it. "Let your feelings be known before it's too late, you know?" Kenji smiled at Sasha and then left, he knew she would stand guard with everyone else gone, but she was probably tired.
Kenji saw the next room door open and wondered. I wonder if that teacher Marcus recovered well.. He has no idea what we're about to get into, and I would hate for them to be dragged along. At some point, Kenji had to warn those who did NOT have the rings of the danger of being with those that did. Incidents like last night were only normal to them.
"Let your feelings be known before it's too late, you know?"
Let them...be known? Sasha mulled this over in her head. How..how do I do that?" Sasha opened her mouth to ask, but Kenji had already disappeared.
Seeing that she was the only one in the room, Sasha sat down on a chair beside Enzo's bed, keeping watch, as Kenji had expected. Her eyelids were getting heavier, and though the girl tried to keep awake, she felt herself slipping again.
Wake up already...idiot...
Maya finally stumbled back into the hotel. Ryuu was safe some distance out of the city, regaining his strength fairly quickly. She felt terrible and aimed to avoid anyone she might know, except maybe Enki or Kenji. But even then, she, had hurt Enki's best friend and Kenji's student. Her body began to shake as she walked. When she finally got to her floor, she spotted Kenji standing about, and froze.
"Yeah that sounds like classes I won't be taking- I'm already a master of Social Integration to begin with." JD stated with a wild smile, and a sort of wanton air of bravado. He looked over Marcus though and his face sobered up. While he was usually one to let his emotions fly freely and without subjugation- he found himself not really wanting to spit in the wind here. They were in America and it was fair to say that eyes were upon them- especially after the other night.
At Marcus's request JD nodded. "You want to come with Silver?" He asked slowly as he leaned into Marcus to give the other the perch he needed to go get his things. "Actually- if you want I can meet you on the roof later- I believe there is a pavilion. Ineed a private word or two." JD smiled brightly afterwards. With that he extended his arm to his teacher. "Shall we be off- your carriage awaits madame. Or- er- sir. Probably shouldn't be so flagrantly loose with my sarcasm here. Don't want to end up with detention for life. Then when would Ihave time to be a hoodlum?"
Kenji caught sight of Maya down the hall, and noticed how tense she was. He wobbled his way over to her, and looked up to her. "You're looking quite troubled, are you still corrupted?" It was hard to tell if he had joked on the last bit or not. His tone said yes, though his facial expresson- No.
Maya began to ease up a bit, and finally replied, "I'm not corrupted anymore. I just feel really... guilty about what I did. How is he?" She asked, meaning Enzo. Her chest hurt with all of the stress she felt. She had never felt this way before, but, with this group, there were a lot of new things and feelings. Last time, she had turned to Kenji for counciling, but this time it was not so easy. She wished she would vanish.
A certain Ines Laurentin had missed her flight on the plane, waking up a good three hours after she was to depart. Of course she had panicked; after all, who wouldn't panic in that situation? The twenty three year old called the plane company, but to her dismay, the next flight was in two days.
Great...just great. Perfect way to start off my new job. I'll get fired in no time! Oh, I hope they won't be too mad...
These thoughts ran their paths through the female's mind as she checked in with the hotel staff, murmuring her name and the school she had come in the name of. A hand reached up, winding a finger around her strawberry pink hair, as the other adjusted her glasses.
"M'am..." a male bellhop asked her, "Don't you have any luggage?"
"L-luggage?" Ines asked, startled by the question, "U-uh, no, someone else already took it up..."
The bellhop gave a curt nod, though it was quite obvious that he was attempting to avert his eyes from the voluptuous chest belonging to Ines, "Have a good day."
And with that, Ines, a bit embarrassed, ran into the elevator and pressed the button to the floor she'd be living on.
Kenji breathed a sigh of relief. "He is fine, still sleeping. Though he have had some kind of sickness that kicked in once he was physically weak, or else he'd be awake by now." Kenji hopped up onto Maya's shoulders, then her head. "Now, my steed, we ride to Enki!" He shouted, pulling strands of her hair.
Maya stumbled back, startled. "Wahh?! Kenji!" She fussed, but accepted it. Slowly, she began heading in the direction which she sensed Enki, frowning. She couldn't bear to see Enki in distress which she had caused.
David stood there, still blinking a bit. Finally, he decided he should go get some eye drops or something. "Well, I gotta run some errands. So, I'll talk to you later." He nodded at Marcus, Kira, Silver, and JD too before taking his leave. He walked to the elevator, and pressed the button, waiting for it to come up to the floor he was on.
Silver stood and listened to the others talk. JD addressed her, asking to meet her on the roof later. A private word? She nodded slowly, wondering what the city and everything around them looked like from up high. She casually slid out of the room, walking to the elevators and pressing the "up" button. David was still there waiting, but he remained silent. After a couple minutes, he broke the silence. "I've got a bad feeling about something, Silver." She glanced over to him, keeping her head facing towards the elevator. "..Just, be on your guard, okay? I don't want anything to happen.. By the way, I think the clean up crew has pretty much finished. Have you dropped the illusion yet?" Silver sighed. "Yes, a few minutes ago actually." David didn't respond, but simply nodded to himself. The elevator going up finally arrived, and she got on, pressing the button that would take her to the roof. As the doors were closing, she spoke out to him. "You be careful too, alright?.." David looked up, only to see that the doors had already closed. He frowned, and stared at the elevator in front of him, still waiting for it to arrive.
..Wait a second, why did her elevator get here first? He wondered.
The elevator doors opened with a dinging sound, and Ines took a tentative step outwards. To her surprise, a chestnut haired male with glasses on was on the other side.
"O-oh!"
Her voice came out a little high, and Ines instantly blushed, "U-uh, are you a student?" she asked, pushing her glasses up a bit.
David took a step back, staring down at the new tall-for-a-girl female that appeared before him. His eyes first went to her pink hair, then to her blue eyes, then to her rather large chest. David found himself staring for a moment and then snapped back into reality. "Uh, yes.. Yes I am.. Sorry, are you another teacher?"
She felt his attention shifting towards her chest, and Ines crossed her arms, in an attempt to shield her chest away from the boy.
Geez, Ines, he's just a student, stop getting so flustered!
She nodded, "Ah, is that so? I'm Ines, a new teacher...for various reasons, I just arrived today." She coughed a little, "New teacher? You mean there are other ones?"
David nodded. He pointed to the room he had just come from and explained. "Yeah, one of them is in there right now, though, he's injured.." He stopped himself.
"Are you with Sorcerers? Or are you some teacher the authorities assigned to us to keep us out of trouble?" David questioned, crossing his arms. Though, even though he was with the students, he wasn't technically one of them. He figured he could leave that part out though.
A hand went up to her mouth as she gasped, "Oh my, injured? That's not good at all!" Ines's brows furrowed a little as she became concerned for a teacher she hadn't even met yet. How bad was the damage?
Hearing his question snapped her out of her worries, "O-oh, I was just hired by Sorcerers recently," replied Ines, backing away from the male, "Um...is there a separate floor where the teachers stay, or are we on the same floor as the students?"
He held onto JD's shoulder for stability, laughing at the 'carriage' remark. "Why thank you, kind prince. We shall go to my quarters, so I may powder my nose." Marcus said with a wink, in a horrible Cockney-British impersonation, much like the voices of the character in the 'Fable' game that he used to play. With that, he used his human crutch to hobble to his hotel room. Thankfully in all the commotion, he still had the key. As he was unlocking the door, he heard chatter coming from down the hall. Looking over towards the elevator he noticed David and Silver standing in front of a young looking strawberry-haired woman. She was dressed rather professional-like, though her behavior was a been eccentric and nervous. "Hello...what have we here?" He muttered to himself. Quickly, he went into his room and grabbed his other pair of glasses and a black dress shirt. "Thanks again for your help JD. If you were in any of my classes, I'd give you extra credit. Though I'll talk to the headmaster about getting your marks boosted a bit. You deserve nothing less." He threw his dress shirt loosely over his bandaged body, wincing a bit as the pain was starting to come back. Regardless of the pain though, he started to limp towards the elevator.
