Seraph starts to chuckle. "I would love to see that...Maybe some other time we can duel." Seraph looked around and noticed how late it was. "I do not mean to be rude, but does anyone here mind If I stay with them for a while? I do not have a home at the moment." He had a sincere voice to him and non-threatning.
Bandaging David's injury, Marcus packed his gear away and discarded his bloodied gloves while giving him care instructions. As he stood and looked over his shoulder, he realized the battle between the other two students was over, and no winner seemed apparent. A tired look was across the faces of the kids, he probably wasn't going to get a chance to show off his ability tonight, but it was for the best. "Alright guys," he spoke up, "head to your dorms and get some sleep, I will see you all again soon." He turned to Seraph, "As for you..." he tossed the boy his room key, "since you arrived too late to pick up your student package, you don't have your own room set up. However, I can't for the life of me send someone out to the hotels by themselves. I really don't mind." Pulling out the map of the school and a pen, Marcus crossed an 'x' over his dorm room and handed it to Seraph. "I'll be back in the morning to pick you up and take you to the administration office. I don't know why, but I trust you...let's make sure my instincts are right." Marcus flashed a sincere smile and headed for the exit of the training room, "Don't worry about me folks, I'm wide awake. I'll just explore the town a bit."
Seraph caught the keys and took the map. hmm...very interesting. "Thank you very much, I will be heading off to sleep than, I will be waiting for your return in the morning to work out all the details." He looked at the rest of the group and gave them a small smile. "Thank you everyone for you kindness, I will see you around."calmly he started to walk down the hall with his left hand in pocket and right hand waving to David, Maya, Enki and Marcus as he left.
"Hey now, I don't mind a scar or two, I got plenty of them." David explained as he turned around when Marcus was done, showing multiple scars of many different sizes, depth, and shapes on his back. He looked back to Maya and Enki, who appeared to have finished their fight. "Awesome, so who do I get to fight next?" he asked as he stood up eagerly, patting his wound, pleased with the excellent job Marcus did. Seraph and Marcus had both left after that, leaving just David, Maya, and Enki. David smiled, wondering what the two will do next.
Meanwhile, Silver had been left alone outside the school. She was still in shock from learning about her father, remembering how she first learned of him. She wandered to a bench nearby and sat down, completely forgetting about anything else. The whole reason she existed was to be a puppet. A tool, used for bad things. A thing used to help defeat her friends. She couldn't bear the thought of that. After a few moments, she decided it would be best to go back to her room and sleep. She began her walk. Feeling a shiver down her spine, she picked up the pace a little bit. She hoped that didn't mean what she thought it meant.
While walking to his dorm, he noticed a black haired girl walking a little faster than usual. Suddenly a jolt of his senses flashed. Another illusionist...This place is very intriguing indeed. Seraph stepped into the shadows and appeared right behined her. "Excuse me...Silver? I presume, David talks about you alot. Im sorry where are my manners, Im Seraph Ulaerc, I just came to your school." He spoke in a gentleman like manner.
Volitaire and Montesque kept walking down the courtyard. Volitaire kept his eyes on the windows, he was curious to see what his friends were doing but it was best he'd go to Artizle and see him first. He can visit his friends in the morning. He turned to Montesque who was nearly falling out. Volitarie chuckled at his eyes jumping from open to closed. "It wasn't a easy one...but we did it...he won't prey on any other Mages. No more...so you're going to give Silver her answers?" Montesque nodded with what little energy he had left. "I have already..." Volitaire's gaze turned serious. "Good, she deserved it. Now she'll go in the dorms and rest. She's had a long day..." "You too...you're the one who took the brunt of the battle the most." "Exactly...she's not hurt. That's what I aimed to do. JD would kill me, if she was." Montesque grinned, he was happy Silver found someone who cared for her. But he was also curious who he was. He let the thought slip away. They exited the courtyard, the forest was dark, much harder to see in. Volitaire ignited a green fire in his palm to help light the way. He came across the hatchet door and opened it up. "The rest is up to you now, Monte.." He let him go and Montesque staggered and bit but made his way down the ladder. Volitaire soon followed. "Ow, ow, ow, ow.." He said with every step he took, his muscles in pain from the sores. Artizle was already down the hallway, back to the wall. He grinned at them and came over to help Montesque. "I can't describe how proud I am. But lets save that for tomorrow. You won a big battle, and you deserve your rest." Artizle said while gripping Montesque and holding him over his shoulder. Volitaire was getting drowsy and eventually crashed. He fell to the floor and fell asleep. "Aah! Voli!! ...Agh, he's out for the count. I guess I gotta help him to hi room too..."
"David?.." She looked up at the strange man who appeared before her. This man gave her a strange feeling. It wasn't a very pleasant feeling either. It was a feeling similar to the one he gave her whenever he was around. If that was the case, maybe it was just him that made her feel uncomfortable. She sighed. "Yes, I'm Silver.. Can I help you with something?" Her mind wandered to where her friends were, they were probably asleep by now.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you, I just saw a fellow classmate and thought she could use company to the dorms, Im new here at the academy." he said joyfully. But in quick switching of emotions, he looked more sinister. "I also feel the presence of a illusionist about you...is that true?"
Aha. So that's why he stopped her. "Yes, that's correct." She eyed the man, suspicious of his motives. Was he an illusionist as well? That's the sort of vibe he got from him, but she wasn't one to jump to conclusions about that sort of thing. She crossed her arms, waiting for him to respond.
"Interesting..." Seraph looked calmly at her. He ran his fingers through his hair. "Well, Im sure a powerful illusionist like yourself can handle being alone...I will be no more bother to you tonight, just wanted to say hello." He turned the corner and head the other direction towards his room, waving at Silver as he left. "I look forward in seeing your skills in action during school!" He shouted out as he left into the dark corridor.
Maya shook her head, walking towards an edge of the room. "No more fighting for me tonight." She found herself feeling extremely guilty for that one part of her that wanted to kill Enki. Just for being with her in this unstable time, she both hated and adored Enki and David. It was strange, as she usually never had so many feelings. Especially not conflicting feelings such as these.
She sat by the door, leaning her head on her hand and watching the other two.
Silver watched as he left. Something about him made her feel rather uncomfortable, and she didn't like it. She sighed and continued walking. Looking down at her swords, she frowned. They needed polishing now more than ever. Poor things. She wondered where JD was, if he was asleep or not. She wanted to see him and apologize for leaving so suddenly without saying anything, but she didn't want to disturb him either. Plus, she was tired and not in the best mood. She arrived at her room, standing outside for a moment, thinking about lots of things.
David, on the other hand, glanced between Enki and Maya. Was Maya always like this? He looked at her as she sat by the door, and frowned. "Are you feeling alright? It's late, maybe you should go back to your room and sleep." He picked up his shirt and the gift JD had given him for Silver earlier. "It's about time for me to get some rest anyways... Where will I do that... Hmm.." His voice trailed off as he turned away from the two, thinking about this. Was there an inn or something nearby? Or maybe an extra room? Maybe he could convince Silver to let him stay in her room, if that was allowed.
Seraph finally arrived at his room, he took the key and opened the door slowly, entering quietly. The room opened up to him, nothing special but It was alright. I better get some sleep, got a long journey ahead of me. Slowly he took off his jacket and shirt and placed it neatly on the edge of a chair. He opened up the covers and went in. Goodnight...Sorcerer's Unusual, he keeps his amulet on as he sleeps.
"You can stay in my room if you have nowhere to go. I probably won't be heading there until morning anyways." Maya sighed. She still was feeling a little guilty. "Don't worry about me." She added. Is this who she would be from now on? She frowned, now watching Enki.
"I'm... sorry for making you fight if you didn't want to, Enki." She looked at him hopefully, waiting for her apology to be accepted, waiting to be redeemed.
After a few long minutes of walking down a path into the village, Marcus found himself in front of the Hotel. Looking up he saw a sign 'Bar', it was pointing left, so, of course he followed it. Sitting at the bar he ordered a drink and chugged it down as quick as a man could. As he ordered another he couldn't help feel the uneasiness from before coming back. Seraph, was really getting to him, and he couldn't for the life of him figure out why. And yet, he still trusted him with his room. "I'm too nice of a person..." he thought to himself, sipping the drink in his hand. There was no time to mope about it now though, as the renewing effects of the alcohol kicked in, he spotted two guys playing pool. Amateurs. Well, why he was here, he might as well make some extra cash. Finishing his drink, he approached the two. "I play winner?" He asked grabbing a pool cue from its rack, a devious grin crossed his face.
"Oh, no, I wouldn't want to do that. I'd feel like I was invading! Anyways, I'll be off now. Don't worry, I'll figure something out." He tossed his shirt over his shoulder and held the gift at his side. He smiled, nodding at both Enki and Maya before leaving.
As he wandered the school, he found what seemed to be the girls dorms. He happened to find Silver standing outside a door. He assumed it was her room. "Silver! You're back!" he said to her as he approached her. She looked up, almost as if she had been broken from a trance. "D-David, hi... Why aren't you wearing a shirt? And what happened?" she asked, staring at his wound. "Oh, this is nothing. Just got stabbed. Hey, this was for you, I think." He handed her the gift. "I think it was from a dude named JD? Blonde dude, bright eyes. Dunno. He seemed upset though." Silver frowned as she took it. She opened it, finding the charms, and smiled, even blushing a bit. "JD gave this to you?..." David watched her, seeing her face go from disappointed to happy in a split second. What's with her and this JD dude?
"Yeeeup. By the way, I don't have a place to sleep, and I assume you have a room around here. Can I stay with you?" he asked, giving her a puppy dog look. She sighed. "Fine, fine. This is my room, come in.." She went in and David followed. She closed the door, locking it. "You have to sleep on the floor, though."
"Don't apologize, it was my fault for being so eager." He said to Maya. "I haven't fought since... then." He added onto it. After a brief moment of silence, he spoke again. "I'll see you in the next day." Then, he left the training room, and went off to Enzo's dorm.
JD had inevitably stopped by some terrible fast food place on his way home and purchased near about his weight in processed meats. No- it was not the best meal for him but yes- it did cure his near starvation. He just promised himself to do his usual training regime tomorrow plus some, and then was quite finished with the guilt of consuming that much cow by-product.
Back in his room he tore his jacket off, unlaced his boots, and inevitably flopped on his bed. He rolled around for a moment and stared listlessly at the ceiling before bringing his hand to the necklace around his neck and fiddling with it slowly. The ring clicked against the stone in the setting, and he wondered what that was all about- what any of this was about. Yet not one to mope he pulled himself from the comforter and bent over to the side to grab what was under it. Of course there were shoved boxed under there, a suitcase, various assortments of shoes, but what he was looking for was a bundle wrapped in a plastic trash sack. He hauled it back onto the bed and inevitably pulled out the numerous files that were in it. It was the student’s official records he had pilfered before the faux-Prom. Of course he had only stolen the people’s that he had met, and hadn’t had the chance to meander through them.
JD spread them out upon his bed and began reading up. Honestly he wasn’t surprised that Enzo’s was severely edited, Enki’s looked about the same, and Voltaire’s was well- cryptic. He paused at Silver’s and just tucked it back into the bag- he had a moment of altruism bleed through him, and he wasn’t about to go through her things. Instead he just read up on what the school knew about each of these members and sighed as it was of no help. “Looks like Voltaire is the only one that can help,” JD grumbled. “Bloody- and I’m sure he is going to want to throw me off a roof.” He paused. Honestly he had chosen those words by incident but they caused him to seethe in guilt. “And I’m sure he probably knows already.” While the twins were the sort to keep their business between each other- considering how Eos had been acting of late there was something that whispered in his ear: she sung all your secrets to him like a little song bird.
Agitated he shoved all the files back into the sack and slid it back under the bed. There he just wrenched his cell from his pocket and glanced at the blank screen. “Nothing- bloody- nothing.” It was then he hacked a message out to Eos, and inevitably rolled over in his bed. A hand came to the flat of his abdomen as the guilt of his previous actions made itself known. “Yes yes I know.” He grumbled. JD knew he shouldn’t have thrown his gift at David, he knew he shouldn’t have just stormed out, and he had an odd feeling that he shouldn’t have been so rough on Eos. But she was becoming less and less like the sister he always knew, and it was bothering him.
So much so that when he went to sleep it would be the only thing he dreamed about.
A magical little series of tones came from her coat pocket, the electronic tones catching Eos' attention. Reaching her hand into her pocket, she pulled out a small red flip phone with a teddy bear charm hanging from it. Flipping it open, she noticed she had one new text message. Surprised that JD was still awake, she stopped in her tracks and looked back in the direction of Sorcerers. It was then she decided not to answer it, but head straight for his dorm room.
It didn't take her long to reach the building, but she had to admit their was a rush in her step that cut her usual walking time in half. She needed someone, and that usually meant her brother. It wasn't until now that she realized she had been far more involved with Volitaire and the others than JD. It was her first time making real friends so hopefully he would understand, but despite all that... she still hated the idea of the two growing apart.
And with a little bit of sneaking, she made her way to JD's room - abruptly knocking on his door.
Volitaire woke up after a few minutes, with his dizzy head and sore body he wasn't sure if he was going to do a lot of walking around. He noticed he was covered in bandages over his wounds, he poked them individually out of curiosity. He sighed from knowing he'd probably end up being stuck in his room for a while. He layed down on his back knowing he'd have to go back to sleep...but he couldn't. Too much was on his mind. He never thought ending Venciersio's life would come so easily. It made him worry about the rings capabilities and wondered what other power he may not have harnessed yet. Either way, he aims to learn everything he can. The ring ignited and lit up the dark room. The red fire had some beauty to it in the dark. He was caught staring at it, making the flames stronger and weaker. Playing around with it. "I need to figure this thing out some more...I don't even know what caused the thing to activate. And that power it gave me...it overcame the Virus' easily. I even changed shape in a way I haven't before. The flames became runes...and I'm pretty sure using runes is a deep level of magic. If I'm already able to use runes this early, this ring's power must be phenomenal. Even Ven couldn't stop me...after the struggle I had with him before the ring activated." He let the flame die down and turned to his side, wincing at a sore wound being pressed down on. "Kenji should know about this...hopefully he can explain."
Voices...they speak to me. Seraph moved about in his bed frantically. No...No I will not! Sweat ran down his face, his whole body drenched. "I am worthy! I am!" Still asleep in his bed, yelling at nothing. [I]I am not you.[I] Seraph grabbed his amulet in his sleep, not noticing what he was doing in reality. "Ahh!" He awoke, and sat up in his bed in a quick movement, his eyes hazy from just being awoken. "Just a dream...nothing more." He looked down at his amulet and stared at it with such resentment. "Why do you do this..." He spoke to himself, looking around at the room he was in. I do not want anyone to find out, came close in the training room though.
He recalled the instance where he ran screaming from the training room, holding hes chest with such pain. Why did it have to be me, why can't I be normal...strength is my only saviour. He fell back onto his bed, staring at the ceiling.
David plopped down on Silver's bed. "I have to sleep on the floor? When I'm hurt? Gosh, could you be any more heartless?"
Silver rolled her eyes. "If I wanted to be heartless, I wouldn't have let you in. You're free to leave if you want," she remarked, a bit annoyed with being called heartless. She wasn't a bad person... Was she?
"No, no, it's fine, your floor looks comfortable, too," he responded as he rolled off her bed and onto the floor. He noticed her mood was much different from before, and he was a bit worried. "So, how'd the huge battle go?"
"Fine." She hadn't even explained to him why she left in the first place, but she didn't really want to.
"Oooh-kay... No details? Maybe the reason as to why you're not very cheery right now?" "No." David sat up and stared at Silver, who had turned and was facing away from him now. Even so, she could still feel his eyes on her. "What?"
"That's what I was going to ask you!" She sighed. "Look, I don't want to talk about it right now. Tomorrow, maybe. But right now, I just want to sleep." She turned back around to look at him. He noticed that she had put those charms on her swords and frowned. "What about that JD guy?"
"What about him? No, don't answer that. I just said I don't want to talk right now. About anything. Now, you can either leave, or stay and try to sleep." He huffed and rolled onto his stomach, staring at the wall. Silver took this as her opportunity to change while he wasn't looking, and she did. "Fine, fine, whatever. Don't expect me to just drop this though." She frowned, setting her swords down after playing with the charms a bit, and hopping over David and into her bed. "I know, goodnight David." She pulled her covers over her and closed her eyes.
He hesitated for a moment.
"Night, Silver."
The next day
Tuesday
7:00AM
Chilly breeze, cloudy skies.
Enzo stretched his battered body as he walked amongst the crowd in the school. He had gotten no sleep. He was up all night training with the Minus Fire, and getting new contacts. He wore an eyepatch to cover up his blind eye. I know the day just started, but... He slumped down after he stretched. ...I'm beat. He walked out of Sorcerers, and was on campus.
Seraph got up from bed, got washed, dressed and ready for his first day. Seraph did not get any sleep due to his...dream. He opened the door to the hall and then it hit him. Wasn't Marcus supposed to come and take me to administration? He thought nothing of it and hoped he would catch him along the way.
Hands in pockets, he non-chalantly walked down into school, ignoring everyone as they squirmed around him, running to class. I wonder where everyone is? He hoped to find someone he knew quick.
Volitaire carefully got out of bed, and walked down the hall to the bathrooms. He was a little nervous having to shower with a lot of wounds again since his fight with Artizle. He sucked it up and removed his bandages and took a hot shower. He winced the entire time, the hot water stung all over. Though, by the time he was out he felt a little less tense. He went back to his room in a robe and opened his drawer to find more medical tape to wrap the more worse off wounds with. He found his dress shirt and black pants and left the first button undone and tucked the shirt in. You could see some of the tape under his chest and on his shoulder. But leaving the first button up felt uncomfortable. It felt like it was chocking his neck. Artizle was still resting, so Volitarie could leave without trouble. He opened the hatch and closed it behind him, making his way to Sorcerers.
After a quick visit to his room, he realized Seraph had already left, and was probably making his way across campus now. Marcus rounded through the hallways before he spotted the black haired soon-to-be student and approached him. "Sorry about that. I meant to be here sooner, but something came up." In other words, he was too busy hustling pool the night before and passed out on a bench outside of the hotel's bar. His cheeks were flushed, feeling kind of like a jerk for leaving the boy alone like that on his first real day. Even more so when he noticed the dark circles under his eyes, indicating his sleep wasn't all that great. Marcus really hoped he could make it up to him for his tardy behavior. "Alright, follow me to the office. Afterwards, I'll buy you some breakfast." He smiled as he began walking towards the direction of registration desk.
Seraph turned around at the sound of Marcus' voice. Seraph ran his fingers through his hair, he seemed to enjoy that. In a tired voice, yet still formal."Ahh, their you are. I was hoping you didnt forget about me, long night? I am sure it was." Seraph chuckles to himself. "But of course I will follow, and thank you for the breakfast." Seraph followed him closely with his hands still in pockets.
Silver woke up, finding that she didn't have any nightmares the night before. She was a bit surprised, but also a bit concerned. What might that mean? She stretched out, and sat up, hanging her feet off the bed. She looked to her dresser, which had her swords on it. She saw the charms, and remembered. Ah, I need to thank JD. She stood up, and took a step forward, but she stepped on something.
"Ow."
She looked down, and there was David, still on her floor. Whoops. "David, I'm going out to find my friends. Do you want to come?"
"I dunno, all your friends seem to hate me. Should I?" She rolled her eyes. "I'm sure they don't hate you. Yes, you should. Put a shirt on first though." She walked to her dresser, and found her uniform on the floor next to it. She picked it up. Meanwhile, David had found his bag and managed to find an extra t-shirt someone gave him a few towns back. He put it on, and put his black jacket on over it, running his fingers through his hair and shaking it out a bit. He put on his glasses, and turned to Silver. "Okay, I'm ready." Silver, on the other hand, was brushing her hair. "Then wait for me outside." He nodded, knowing girls needed their own time to themselves to get ready, and stepped outside.
Walking down the path towards the courtyard he looked over to his right and saw students were already walking about. Getting breakfast, and rushing to morning classes. He walked into the courtyard, some of the students recognized him from the Aurora mission and the fight with Red. They didn't really bother to approach him, but they spoke idly amongst themselves. Volitaire ignored it and approached the door of the school. He stepped inside and saw David leaving out Silvers room. He remembered him from before his vendetta with Venciersio, but barely knew him. He tilted his head slightly, suspicious of why he left out her room, so he approached her. "Oi, David..how's Silver been holding up?"
David looked up when he heard his name, to see the guy Silver left with yesterday. "Oh, hi, Voltaire. She's... Alive, but not in the best mood. What exactly happened? I tried to talk to her last night, but she refused. And I doubt she's going to talk to me much today either." He crossed his arms as he looked down to Voltaire, who was considerably shorter than him.
But before Voltaire could respond, Silver came out in her uniform. "Oh, Voltaire. How are your injuries?.." she asked as she noticed the bandages under his shirt.
