The Knight.

"Anything I can do for you?" I asked, running my fingers through his hair. I feel so bad for him..

I shook my head. I took her hand, and looked her in the eyes. "I need you.. to stay by my side, and stay strong dor.me.. "

I blinked hard and slowly nodded. "Yeah, of course.." I said a little shakily, squeezing his hand.

"Come on.." I said, taking her hand and walking to the couch, I grabbed some blankets and I sat down, putting my feet up on the footrest, and I pulld her into my lap, wrapping us both up. "You can cry.. okay? Crying is okay.." ibsaid, I knew she was holding it in.

I shook my head and buried my face in the crook of his neck. "No.. I promised myself I wouldn't.." I whispered, holding him tightly. What if I lost him? I'd just die..

I sighed, and I just held her close to me, cuddling with her. "Okay.." I said. I rubbed her back softly, I was so drained, si done.. but I wanted to keeo going, fight through it. For her.

We were silent, but it was comfortable. I could sense he was dozing off, so I got off of him and kissed his forehead. "You can sleep babe.."

Ihad let my eyes close, just for what felt like a moment, then it turned into dream land . I felt the covers come over me again, and I just kept sleeping.. it was peaceful.. ibwas nervous for tomorrow.

I cleaned the house for a while, and then I went to go take a nap as well.

I woke up after a while, wondering where Annabelle was, I stood, and looked around, seeing she was in bed. I smiled, and I quietly walked in, and covered her up,and then headed out. I called my mom and told her about the news

I woke up a little while later and smiled when I found that I was covered up. I stretched and got up, walking to the living room to see Jay on the phone. I wrapped my arms around him from behind and kissed his temple. "Is that your mom? Tell her I say hi." I said with a smile.

"Well, im doing fine. Yes. Mom I promise. Ill call after chemo. Annabelle says hi, okay.. love you too, bye." I said, looking at her. "Its been a while since ive heard her cry like that.." Isaid softly.

I hugged him gently. "It'll be okay.. I promise." I whispered. "It'll be treated.. And you'll be okay.."

I nodded. "Youre right.." I said, and I kissed her forehead. "Should we start getting ready for your parents house?" I asked.

I nodded. "Yeah." I replied. I went and changed into a skirt and blouse and heels. My mom loves when I look nice. I did my makeup light and curled my hair.

I put onsone nicer jeans and a navy blue button up shirt. I made sure my hair was decent before walking out to the car with her. "You look amazing." I said softly

I smiled. "Thanks babe." I drove to my parent's house and rang the doorbell. Ron the butler answered and bowed,letting us inside. My mom ran up and hugged Jay and I.

I hugged her, and smiled when she pulled away. "You look nice , Grace." I said, and I took Annabelles hand.

"Why thank you." My mother said. My father came out and kissed my cheek and then shook Jay's hand. "How are you?" He asked him.

"Im. . Doing, good. Yes, good." I said, tripping over my words a bit, and I gave her hand a squeeze, letting her know I struggled a bit there.

"We went home shopping this morning." I said smoothly, covering for him. My mom clapped her hands. "I'll have to come by soon and see!" Ron came in and bowed. "Dinner is ready."

"Yes, we got some cool things for the music room." I said, and when Ron came over I smiled at Annabelle. I couldnt wait to share with the family over dinner. About the engagement of course.

I smiled and sat down next to Ron at the table. We had salad as the appetizers, and then we ate lasagna for the entree.

The food was amazing, and I wasnt sure when the right time was, to bring up the engagement. I would wait for her mark. There was two people in the room that knew. Hee dad.. and brother. I had called her dad secretly, to get his blessing the other day.. sneaky sneaky..

I took a sip of my wine, laughing at my mother's college stories. I glanced at Jay and smiled. It's time. I held his hand underneath the table.

I slowly stood, and had Anna stand with me. Annabelle and I would like to announce.. that her and I are noe engaged." Isaid, waiting for tht to sink in

My mom slapped her hands over her mouth, then she began to cry. "Oh my god.. My baby is grown up!" My mom said tearfully. My father and Nova clapped, grinning at me.

I chuckled, and I kissed Annabelle sweetly, and I looked aground.. this would be my second family. . I was very excited. Now the cancer thing, would be another time, mayben

I kissed him back and then sat down. My mother was talking excitedly about wedding stuff already. And I let her, cuz I didn't want to burst her happy bubble.

"We aren't sure exactly when it will be." I said, about the wedding. It would be after treatment, but thsu dont know that it would have to wait at least 6 months ,maybe more
