"Okay." I answered, standing as well. Liam was a captain I guess, he had a lot of men under his command. He told his trusted companion to fill in for him while he was gone and we took a few men with us for protection. I somehow remembered to ride a horse and I rode next to Liam, 4 men surrounding us.
-
(I hope I'm not doing terrible with this..)
Soon we were off , my four most trusted men with us. I glamced over at her , seeing how well she was riding the horse. "You seem to remember riding well." I said, grinning.
-
((You're doing okay. :) ))
I smiled. "Thank you." I answered, glancing at him. "I must have loved riding." I looked around. England is so beautiful.. Except that it is at constant war. "What do I do if we are attacked?" I asked suddenly.
-
"Well.. If that happens, just get behind me. I'll make sure that no one will hurt you, okay? And if something happens to me, just run, alright?" I said.
-
"Okay.." I said softly. Another knight gave me a knife and told me to put it in my boot. I did as he said and I stroked the horse's mane as we rode on quietly. Everyone was tense, at attention.
-
(Should they be attacked?)
-
-
We had talked about that at the right time, I saw four men on horses charging at us. My men quickly got off, and charged at the men with swords, one man managed to make it over to me, I quickly got my sword out and I blocked his first swing, turning to see if Caylin was okay, she was my number one concern now.
-
"Liam watch out!" I screamed as the man took another swing at him. I leaned down and grabbed the knife from my boot and I threw it as hard as I could at the man Liam was fighting. It hit him right in the chest and he fell off the horse, going still. I casped and covered my mouth. I just killed a man.
-
My eyes widened, she just saved my life.. "Bloody hell.." I said, looking at the dead guy on the floor. "Thank you.. That was amazing." I said.
-
The enemies were all killed, one of them at my own hands. I am disgraced, I know it. I grabbed the reins and kept my eyes down. ".......... Let's just go." I said softly.
-
"Hey.. You did what you had to do okay? They are the enemy.." I said, getting back on my horse.
-
I nodded. "Yeah...." I answered. I hate war. I hate it so much. I closed my eyes. Why can't I remember anything? Am I married? Am I widowed? Am I betrothed? I am 17.. I should have been married off by now.. Is anyone looking for me?
-
It was soon going dark, we would make it there in the morning. We began to set up camp for the night. I glanced at her, and she still looked sad, lost... I wish I could help her, I didn't know what to do.
-
I sat by the fire and tried to stay warm, but it was hard. It was very cold tonight. At least there were trees to block some of the chilling wind. I looked over at some of the men and Liam talking. About the battle, no doubt. They must be worried about their men. I sighed. I must be a burden..
-
My guys all agreed to stay up and watch for danger, and take turns. That made me feel better. I then walked over to Caylin, and sat beside her, seeing she was freezing. "Here.." I said, grabbing a blanket that was beside me, and I wrapped it around her.
-
"Thank you." I said softly, giving him a small smile. I looked up into his warm, brown eyes. "What do I do if this doesn't work?" I whispered.
-
"Well.. you saw, I have two cots in my tent.. youre more than welcome to stay with me if youd like. And then I could ask around myself, and see if we can find out any other info." I said, rubbing my cold hands together.
-
"Thanks.. But I can't burden you anymore." I said softly. I tucked my hands in my sleeves, trying to stay warm.
-
"Youre not a burden." I said softly, watching the fire.
-
I sighed. "You should be fighting the French instead of escorting a confused woman to the king.."
-
"I'd rather escort a confused woman to the king than fight the French. War is stupid." I said, running a hand through my hair.
-
I smiled. "But you're fighting for our country and that is very noble and brave of you." I said softly, watching the soft flicker of the flames.
-
"But.. A break is nice.. Its tiring and emotionality draining." I said, looking at her.
-
"I would imagine.." I said, glancing at him. Soldiers miss their wives and children at home.. "Are you married?" I asked him.
-
I sighed at her question, and slowly shook my head. "No.. Was engaged once, that never worked out." I said, remembering all that had happened with that.
-
"I see." I replied, looking back at the fire. "Well, you're handsome, and charming. I'm sure you can woo any village woman."
-
I raised an eyebrow, and glanced at her. "Thank you.. But, I don't think the woman I've fallen for would want me as a husband." I said, with a shrug.
-
I looked back at him. "And why is that?" I asked, my fingernails scratching at a mosquito bite on my arm.
-
"Cause I don't think others would allow her and I to be together." I said, I hoped that she didn't know I was talking about her..
