"Why are there even goggles in the Physics lab?" Clair wondered aloud to her neighbor, fingering the protective eye wear curiously. "Peculiar, don't you think?"
The girl smiled politely in response. As if on cue, the speaker above the whiteboard buzzed, followed by a monotone voice greeting them.
Good morning, students. For the first day of the semester, we will recite to you the safety regulations of the laboratory. At the back of the laboratory you can find protective gears that you may require in case of any emergencies that may occur during your lessons. Firstly, I would like each and everyone of you to take a helmet from the pile, and buckle it to your head. Next, are the goggles.
Ahh, she nodded to herself as the announcer read out and explained further regulations.
As instructed, Clair grabbed a yellow helmet and buckle it under her chin, giggling at the absurdity of the situation. The person beside her let out a soft gasp. Clair turned to her, puzzled by her strange reaction.
"Wow, you totally look like Noir when your hair's covered like that!" The girl gushed. "We've been classmates for a year and I almost mistook you instantly!"
Clair smiled. She looked down and brushed her white lab coat. It was true, when her cloths and hair were covered like this, there was no way to distinguish herself from her younger sister except for the color of their eyes. The teacher, Mr Baldwin then ushered them to their seats, urging them to keep the helmet on and to put on the goggles.
Clair excitedly did as she was told, pulling the rubber around her head.
"Now then, I'm going to assign you to your lab partners. Please be aware that I am not going to respond to any opposition for my choices."
He then recited a pair of names, whom which then moved their chairs to sit together. Clair listened quietly. There were names she recognized and some she didn't.
"Clair Boheur," the teacher recited. "and Aldwyn Ferrer."
