The shade of the tree she was leaning upon rose and a silouhette grew from it, growling and strikes Silver with its hand. "You'll have to get down, dear." The rest of the shadows leaped towards her.
Silver sighed and her face became a bit more irritated. "Don't call me 'dear'."
She regained her composure quickly, and suddenly her swords were engulfed in that same indigo flame she exposed earlier, only they were darker and seemingly denser. They gave off little light, though there was a bit. She sliced at the shadows that jumped at her, clearly quite eager to fight. She got that way a lot when she was outnumbered.
The shadows split in two, drifting off as what looked like some sort of myst, but then regains form after a brief amount of time. They leaped more aggresivley towards Silver, while in the fray, he shot his Spell Chains at her. They split the shadowy beasts as they flew towards Silver.
Noting that simply cutting the creatures wouldn't do too much, Silver jumped out of the way and tried to think of a solution.
Well, I can try that... I hope it works..
She closed her eyes for a brief moment, and appeared to be concentrating very hard on something. After a few seconds, the flames on her sword blazed even bigger and brighter than before. It was almost blinding to look at them, and they appeared to be almost white rather than indigo colored like before. She opened her eyes slowly, revealing that her eyes also looked brighter, though they were the same shade of green as they were before.
Volitarie shaded his eyes, and his shadows began to fade slowly. "Good girl. This means I don't have to use such weak shadows." Volitaire dispelled all the shadows and took his own and made a complete clone of himself. "I hate having t clone everything...but I gotta get past those illusions somehow." The clone ran towards Silver and drew his sword. The real Volitarie stood back and waited patiently.
Silver rolled her eyes. "Do I actually get to fight you, or are you just going to keep sending these things after me?" As she spoke, she slowly moved herself into a different stance, one ready to strike. As soon as the clone got close to her, she crossed her arms and sliced at it horizontally with both swords.
She noticed she was quite a bit slower than she was before.
Volitaire shot a Shadow Bullet volley at Silver the moment she strikes the clone, afterwards quickly moving to a point beside Silver and leaving a seal on the ground. He turned his body and prepared a kick to her side. "Your movement is lacking, it is wise to use so much power on just me?" Volitaire questioned.
Silver, stunned at how quick he was, or maybe at how slow she was, glanced briefly at Voltaire who had appeared next to her. Her swords grew dim again and she quickly rolled to her side, away from him. Once she thought she was safe, she spoke again. "Perhaps not, but how else am I supposed to win this fight?"
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pain in her head and fell to her knees. Had she really used that much energy for just that? Holy shit.. Am I actually that rusty? She shook her head and stood up again, with a face that said she was ready to continue fighting, though she was a bit wobbly.
Volitiare regains his stance. "You're dizzy it seems. I really hope you're okay over there. After all, it's a sparring." Volitaire decided to end the spar here. A black vibrating orb grew in his hand, and he threw his hand forward and a shockwave blasted and the black sphere stretched, splitting the water in two under it, it made a low screeching and howling sound. It traveled fast, with a ripple effect surrounding it.
"I'm not dizzy!.. I'm.. Just a bit tired is all. That doesn't mean I'm done."
After a moment of standing there, she flopped down to her knees and sat there for a moment. She put her face in her hands and mumbled, "...Just don't tell anyone about this."
It was embarrassing to her, how weak she was, how horrible she had been with her magic. She hadn't realized that she spent too much time on just sword training and not enough time keeping up with her magic. If this had been just a normal sword fight, he would have been dead in seconds. At least I know that much.
The blast wavered off just when it was about to make impact. Volitaire walked over and helped her up."This wasn't a real win for me. You have skills that greater my own. I know in a real clash against swords you'd have beaten me. Also, those illusions caused me stall and keep you at bay so I can have a close eye on you. You're very agile and skilled, I'll give this victory to you. It's not one for me, I feel." Volitaire smiled and offered to walk her back to the school.
JD sighed rather dramatically as Eos stopped dead in her tracks, and he watched her ruminate over something for a single moment before having a rather deep thought. “Really E- you stop in the middle of my way to tell me about our bags. Are your clown senses tingling or something?” He piqued a blonde brow in her direction. “Fine fine- we’ll go find our bags- I’m sure that nothing too detrimental is happening to them. Probably just sitting in our rooms- wherever those are~”
A little bit later JD was languidly perched in the doorframe of E’s new home. He watched her go through her things- assured of what she was looking for: the picture. Without that thick piece of parchment they were without some glinting piece of knowledge that they came from someone, and were brought into this world for something. JD left all the deep thoughts for his sister and instead flicked his silver grey eyes elsewhere. “Are you done yet-?”
Silver frowned and accepted his offer. She was feeling weak and decided it would be best for her to agree this time. When they were walking back, she grew curious of him. "What's your deal anyways? You seem so mysterious and powerful... I'm not sure what to think of you."
She didn't mean to come across as rude, but she couldn't help it.
Volitaire looked at her. "Powerful perhaps. We had awkward advantages and disadvantages that made the fight limit its possibilities. But my deal..? I lost my entire family, and I continue to grieve their loss everyday. You shouldn't think to much of me anyhow. I'm not important." Volitaire looked forward, looking a little upset.
Silver looked at him curiously, noticing that he was upset. She grinned a bit and spoke again. "So you're one of those types, huh? Lost everything you ever had and became this powerful being." She smirked. "Sounds pretty cliché if you ask me."
Volitaire shrugged. "Life is full of cliche's. I never really thought of myself as a 'powerful being'...but I guess this was my drive. Fulfill my parents expectations of me. Seeing how they're gone, it makes me want to do it that much more. You value something more when it's lost after all." He sighed.
"Tch.. I've never understood people's obsessions with making their parents happy. It's pointless.." she stopped herself. She didn't see a reason for him to know anything about her past unless he specifically asked, and even then she'd be cautious. She sighed.
"I was appreciative of them. My mother was the only one who approved of my choice in magic. And because of her, I wished to master this and I guess I would want to make her happy because she did the same for me." Volitaire kept looking forward, making sure the school came into view.
Silver saw the school and glanced at Voltaire out of the corner of her eye.
"Must be rough, losing everyone you love all at the same time like that.. I don't think I could ever manage to survive something like that." Not that I even have anyone to lose.
She really only wanted to see how sensitive the topic was for him, if it would make him explode or if he could contain it and if so, how well.
Volitaire held back raw emotion and tried to hide himself. "Yeah...it was and still is. There must be others like me. So I shouldn't complain..." Volitaire's voice shook a bit.
"There's always gonna be someone worse off than you, doesn't mean you should keep your feelings bottled up. That's no good for anyone," she told him as she rolled her eyes, grinning slightly.
After a couple minutes, they reached the school. Silver decided to sit on a nearby bench knowing that she was still pretty tired. She didn't enjoy just sitting there, even if she didn't feel too good. She sighed and leaned her head back, staring at the sky and feeling the wind blow over her face. It felt nice, feeling the cool air and watching the clouds float by slowly. She hadn't done that in quite a while.
Volitaire looked at her with some worry and sighed. "You should go to a infirmary of some sort You exhausted yourself. Even worse because it was on my own fault. It would do me some justice if I knew you got some kind of care..." Volitaire turned away, wiping his eyes.
Silver smiled and closed her eyes, as if she was pleased with something. "Nah, I'm fine. Just need to build up my stamina, is all." She paused for a moment and opened her eyes again.
"I wonder where everyone else is right now?"
She thought back to the new people she had met, JD especially. She wasn't sure why she was thinking about him, but she was. Maybe it was the fact that he winked at her. That was the first time she could remember anyone actually winking at her. The thought made her cheeks a little pink, so she tried to think about something else.
Volitaire looked at the door. "Perhaps inside. I hope you enjoyed jerking at my heart strings. It was kinda nice opening up to someone. But terribly upsetting at the same time." Volitaire said with a sarcastic tone then sighed again. "I'm not sure what I'll do now. I have to wait a little before using more of my magic. That summoning took a lot more than realized." He clenched his chest and looked a little unsettled, but quickly brightened up, obviously forced. "Rest easy...I guess I'll wait for JD and Eos with whatever they needed help with. I guess I'll see you around, Silver.." Volitaire put his hands in his pockets and walked in the direction of a town.
The wind blew hard against Enki, making the cloak he wore nearly fly off of him. The sand didn't help either. It tore across his clothes and face, yet he kept walking in the sandstorm. His eyes was fixed on the ground, his mind tinkering with Enzo and their past. It was for the best... He kept telling himself. Trying to believe Kenji's words. He was dangerous. He would put his friend in danger. He wouldn't be so afraid of everything if he wasn't brainwashed. Enki closed his eyes as another gust of wind nearly blows him off of his feet as he makes it up a large hill of sand. When he reached the top, he saw an extremely large city in the distance. He smiled, pulled the hood over his head, and continued to walk.
Enzo and Kyoya had been fighting for a while, both of their attacks being deflected, blocked, or countered by the other. Enzo was more on the attack, while Kyoya was on defense. As Enzo flew past Kyoya with nearly blinding speeds, he snuck a punch or two in. Kyoya manages to block it with one of his tonfas, only to see Enzo turning around for another pass. "You must suck at hand to hand combat." Kyoya said before he blocked another attacking run by Enzo. "You rely on speed too much." Instead of blocking this time around, Kyoya swings in the air, hitting Enzo in the face as he passes by. Disoriented, Enzo lands sideways on the wall, nearly cracking it with the force of his landing.
Kenji watched closely, standing with Aleister and Joanne. For some reason, now that he knew who they were, to a certain degree, he felt at ease around them. He had other things to worry about, anyway. "Make your flame respect you." Kenji shouted out. Enzo stood upright on the ground and brushed himself off. "I'm trying." He said, with an annoyed tone. What does he mean, make it respect me? Kyoya stood up, lowering his tonfas for a moment to speak. "You're an OK fighter. You won't beat me any time soon, though. Not only am I Boone's right hand man, but i'm head of the security team here, and a full fledged combat trainer. So I suggest you master your own flames before coming to fight me." Kyoya put away his tonfas, which shrunk and went back into his box. He straightened his tie and suit and left the training room.
Enzo fell to his knees, and started laughing as his flames disappeared, returning him to normal. "Gee, that guy is pretty tough." He said with a chuckle.
Eos had been sent into a panic while she searched through her belongings amidst her new found dorm room. Clothes and toiletries were strewn all about the place, her hands rapidly digging through every pocket and pouch inside her big black chest with gold trim. The chest was as old as the photo, but proved to be the easiest way for Eos to travel with all the mystic things she had acquired over the years. (One of her biggest fascinations was with power stones.)
Suddenly, she stopped and with a gasp she pulled the frayed photo from inside and hugged it against her cheek happily. Looking back at her brother she smiled warmly before stuffing the picture into her shirt - thinking it best to keep it with her.
After that ordeal, Eos urged JD to find his dorm room as well just so she knew how far away it was and how long it would take to get there. It would be ideal if they were allowed to share the same room, but most schools were adamant about keeping boys and girls separate - so it was something they'd have to get used to.
Once she knew where his room would be, the two headed back to the training room in as quick a pace as possible. Well, Eos was moving quickly, JD was a few strides back behind her, but kept up enough to keep a watchful eye. Once they arrived back at the training room, Eos popped her head inside, catching a glimpse of Enzo - near exhaustion on the floor. "Awh, cripes! We missed it?" Walking inside she knelt beside Enzo and cocked her head to the side, taking observation of his rapid heart beating in his chest and the sweat on his brow. "And by the looks of it - twas quite a fight! You alright there?"
JD’s room had been the same tripe as his sisters’- sterile and desolate. Sadly enough they weren’t close to each other, and in an iota of trouble they would be too far away to help. This made him a bit nervous but he hid it behind his usual suave and joking grandeur.
When they made it back to the training room- the remnants of a fight met them and it had been quite a battle by the state of the folks involved. “Of course he is alright- he hasn’t fought us yet!” JD stated by pumping his fist in the air and then laughing shortly afterwards. It was then he leaned into Eos’s ear and whispered, “you going to hit on anything with two legs here- or did you just magically grow emotions for these blokes?”
JD and Eos had grown up in environments where it was just them, and it was always them against the world. The fact that they would be separate seemed like alien territory to him. He didn’t quite know how to deal with his sister’s sudden development of interest in the opposite gender. Honestly if he could find a girl to retaliate with- he would probably do so. Unfortunately they had only met one at the academy and she had disappeared shortly after introduction.
Volitaire walked back to find Enzo's on the floor. He sipped his orange juice he got from the cafe and was missing his suit jacket, leaving it at the cleaners. He noticed Eos and JD again. He nudged his finger that was holding the cup to signal a hello while drinking the juice. He then walked over and helped his friend up at the same time eying his opponent, with some discontent. 'Something's weird about this one. Some odd premonition is eating at me just looking at him.' He shrugged off the thought and gave his friend a warm grin. "You fought well, I hope? I could feel those flames all the way back from town. And how are you, Kenji?" Volitaire looked over into his direction after finishing with Enzo.
Stretching out her arms and yawning a bit, Silver grew bored of sitting still. Instead, she figured it would be a good idea to check in on Enzo and the others, since they were probably still in the training room. She stood up and began walking there, deciding to buy a water bottle. She drank it quickly and tossed the empty bottle to the recycling, and headed straight to the training room, only to find Enzo on the floor with the others around him. She stepped in with her arms crossed and leaned against the wall, observing.
Enzo had been so busy laughing at his own defeat, that he didn't realize Eos so close to him. The realization made him fall back away from her. It's that girl from earlier.. He thought. He stared at her frighteningly before laughing again. "-Sorry, you snuck up on me." He stated with a smile. Volitaire came in and he nodded towards him as a welcome gesture.
"I'm fine, Volitaire. I might have gained some weight, actually." Yeah, that's because you never do anything but judge... Kenji turned his head over to Enzo's direction, and gave a creepy smile. A chill went down Enzo's spine. At that time, Silver had also entered the room. She looked bored. Thinking about it, it's probably near sunset right now.
When JD whispered in her ear, she quickly snapped her head around and gave him a wicked glare. Just because she was speaking to someone of the opposite gender didn't mean she was hitting on them. And even if she was, it was none of his business! She was seventeen now, practically an adult! If anything, she was behind everyone else - surely everyone else had been in relationships plenty of times already!
When she looked back at Enzo, her expression softening once again, she giggled at his response. "Oh, my apologies - I've been told I'm a bit sneaky." As Volitaire approached, helping Enzo up from the ground, she rose to her feet as well - her eyes happily set on Volitaire. "I didn't expect to see you back on school grounds tonight, what a pleasant surprise!"
By the looks of things, everyone she had met earlier was coming together once again. "Hey! We should all go get something to eat together~! It is rather late, after all."
Volitaire chuckled. "It seems you should start getting active like your little protegee here. No fun sitting back all day collecting pounds." He sipped some more of his OJ with a blank expression, trying to keep hair out his eye. He heard Eos' elated voice and smiled nervously, his cheeks perched and warm. "Heh, yeah. I figure I'd come check up on Enzo. I usually worry if I can pick up his flames beginning to flare. And I didn't expect to see you here either, I thought you'd still be getting ready? And you too, JD." Tilting his head a little, he kept on sipping his OJ.
"Well, we manged to find our rooms - so we weren't completely wasting time." She looked away, a little embarrassed at how productive her first day here actually was. "I'll take care of the rest tomorrow, otherwise JD would just end up wandering around and sitting in whichever class involved the most sparring." Her eyes looking over at her brother briefly, she smiled. "But I'm not exactly like my twin over here - at least not in the destructive sense." She paused and thought back to Volitaires little show he gave her earlier. "It's too bad you aren't teaching a class."
"That's a good idea, Eos. Enzo, Let's head out."
Enzo threw up his hands in sudden protest. "Hang on, right now?! I'm not even dressed for it!" Truth be told, Enzo wasn't ready to go to special places like restaurants. And if he was, the owner of said restaurant wouldn't let him in to the events of Battle Royal. "It's okay, you can wear one of my suits, come on." Kenji grabbed Enzo by the hair and rushed out of the training room. Enzo's protests are heard down the hallway.
JD offered a wink back in Silver’s direction before averting his attention on his sister once again. “Just start calling you Joykill- E- that is all you ever seem to do.” And yet no matter his lamentations his sister kept hitting on Voltaire with the audacity of someone that had long since known him. Maybe that worked in this world, but JD was used to one where here attempts at flattery would be met with an icy stare.
“Screw you E, I love sparring.” JD hissed but then was quickly derailed by the idea of food. “Wonderful idea- lets go get some noodles or something of the sort I’m starving!” The sad part about the boy’s ability was that every time he used it he could practically eat his weight in food shortly their after. Maybe when his metabolism died down this would be a problem- otherwise he was still as trim as fit as any seventeen year old with a six-pack and biceps larger than most people’s neck.
“Coming Silver- darling?” He cooed and smiled at the female member of their group. “I promise to pay more attention to you than these blokes here.”
Volitaire put his hands in his pockets. "Hmph..blokes..how mean. Well, I'll come along, I guess it's something to do. Better than going 'home' I guess." Volitaire finished his OJ and looked a little disappointed.
Silver looked at JD and blushed a little. Food did sound good to her, so she nodded and looked away, trying to pretend like she didn't know she was blushing.
“Blokes means ‘guys’ in our wonderful world of Great Britain,” JD explained to Voltaire with a smile on his face. “I try not to be so ethnic but it is hard when you are genuinely British. So I swear I’m not insulting you mate.” It was then he offered it a thought, “calling you a ‘cad’ would be an insult- so just look out for that word.” He hoped he had extinguished that fire quicker than it had begun. He hadn’t realized that certain cultural nuances would form, but he should have expected it. Truth be told he was somewhat ashamed in his lack of planning otherwise. JD made a mental note to look up American slang from now on and attempt to utilize it efficiently.
While he could have contemplated their ethnic differences all night he was quickly derailed by Silver’s blush. It was apparent that she tried to smother it, but he damn well noticed. Without further ado he approached the stoic female and smiled. “Would you care to escort me then Miss Silver- I would much so enjoy your presence.” With that he offered the curve in his arm for her to take- not at all finding it be in good mannerisms for a single woman to walk about the streets unescorted. Once again that was the cultural differences plainly enunciated.
Silver's face was a bit more red at this point, and she had no idea what to do. Is this a normal thing for guys to do?.. While she was confused, she decided to take his arm and see where it went from there. She was unsure of what to say, though.
Feeling her face was still warm, she let some of her hair fall in it to try to hide her blush, only to fail miserably.
In no time, they were in Enzo's dorm. The place was a mess and some ancient homework started falling out from under the bed. "Hurry up." Kenji ordered him. "I'm trying!"

"Nice." "Shut up!"

"Now, wear this." Kenji pointed to the closet. The area where Enzo usually puts his ripped up clothes was replaced with a suit and fedora matching with Kenji's, Only it was Enzo's size. "Are.. you really sure I can use it?" "Why not? It won't fit me." He moved out of the way for Enzo to grab and put it on. Afterwards, he brushed his teeth and did other morning rituals over again, just to be sure. "I'm ready." He declared.
