The Help

I sighed and I buried my face in my pillow. "I'm not hungry.." I mumbled. Wow.. That's new.

I frowned. Something really must be wrong then. "Okay .." I said, and I replaced the soup with ice water. "Then at least drink water alright?" I said, rubbing her side before heading back out

I sipped some water, and then slipped back into sleep. When I woke up again, it was the middle of the night and I was on FIRE.

I felt her move around, and I sat up. "Whats wrong?" I asked, feeling her.. wow. We may need to go to the hospital.. I slowly pulled the blankets off her and I felt her arm. "We have to cool you off.."

I was panting lightly and I was sweating like crazy. I got up and went to the bathroom. It really hurt to pee. I then took a cold shower and I was still feverish when I got out. I took my temperature. 105... Wow..

"Babe you okay in there?" I asked, leaning against the door. I was now ready, and dressed. I had to take her to the hospital. "Im calling a cab.." I said.

My side was hurting and I whimpered softly. My kidneys hurt.. I walked out and sat down, waiting for the cab.

The cab was soon here and I picked her up and I kissed her cheek when I did so. "Everything will be better soon, I promise.." I said, getting into the cab and buckling her in for her. When there, I paid him, and rushed inside, her in my arms, I held her close, and I checked her in. Now we had to wait for a room.

I was panting and sweating. I felt like I was dying. "Slade.." I breathed, as I clung to him. "It hurts.." My whole body was aching and my kidneys were killing me.

"It will.. get better alright?" I said, brushing her hair back. Soon, we got a room, thank god. Thay immediately got.fluids into her through an iv, and got her temperature under control.

I passed out and then woke up a few hours later. I felt horrible. I was in so much pain.

"Nurse ! Shes awake." I said, seeing the pain in her eyes.. I was so scared.. the nurse rushed in, and quickly gave her pain medication. "Im so sorry this is happening to you.." I said gently, taking her hand.

I squeezed his hand weakly and I looked into his eyes. "It's not your fault. " I said hoarsly. I sighed. "Can you get me some water please?" I asked.

I nodded quickly, and got her some ice water, and I put a straw in it. I helped her sit up, and I brought the straw to her lips. I felt awful.. why was this happening? The doctor cane in, smiling. "Okay, we may meed to get yeh an xray dear, alright? The blood results came back, and I need to double check and see if its what I think." He saidx his accent thick.

I looked up, and I found it hard and painful to swallow. I coughed lightly. "And what do you think it is doctor? " I asked.

"I think your kidneys are failing.. we may need to find a donor, soon if it is. " he said. My heard dropped. "Wh..What?" I asked, shocked. How?.. why?.. "Its possible to live off one kidney, and thats what you may need to do, we have to remove both. Lets get you into xray." He said, calling the nurse in, and they wheeled hrr off

They took my xrays and then they put me back in my room. My heart was pounding. Kidneys failing? Why? How?

The doctor cam back, and confirmed that it was that.. now .. they had to find a donor.. then he left. I sighed, taking her hand. "They will find someone.." I said

I closed my eyes. "It'll be so hard.. Living with one kidney. How could this happen? " I whimpered. I shouldn't have came here..

"Its possible.." I said softly. "Babe.. im sorry. I shouldn't have made you come with me.." I said, holding my head in my hands.

I gently touched his cheek. "Babe.. It's okay.. You didn't make me.. I wanted to."

"Still.." I said, and I looked up at the doctor., and I stood, walking over to him. He stepped out with me. "What blood type are you, Slade?" He asked. "A positive." I said. And he grinned. "Will you donate your kidney to her?" He asked. I nodded quickly. "Yes.. I will.." he said. "We can get you in right now.." he said. "Yeah.. hold on.." I said, and I headed back into the room. "Hey babe.. ill.be back, alright?" I said, and I went back out, and I was taken to the operating room

What was taking him so long? I sighed and took some more pain medicine, and then I fell asleep. He probably got caught up in traffic..

The surgery was very easy, and I had almost no pain afterwords. I was up and walking within an hour. I headed back to her room, hoping I didnt look so pale.. I kissed her cheek. "Hey.. sorry.."

I opened my eyes and looked up at him. "Hey.. Where were you?" I asked.

"Apartment.. traffic was bad on the way back." I said, grinning. She will get where I really was, here in a little.. the doctor walked in, smiling. "We found a donor."

I looked up. "Really?" I asked. "Already?" Wow.. That was fast.

"Yes.. Slade, want to show her?" He asked, and I lifted my shirt, showing the gause. "I was a match.." I said..

I covered my mouth and I stared at him, shaking my head. "W-Why didn't you tell me? Y-You could have died in operation!"

"Calm down. Im fine.. I didnt want to tell you because I knew you would worry." I said, sighing. I gave her hand a squeeze.

"Well.. Thank you." I said softly. I kissed his hand and closed my eyes. I still had a high fever.

After a long while, they started to give her anesthetic to slowly knock her Out. "This will go okay, I promise.." I said, before she closed her eyes. I kissed her before they wheeled her off..

When I woke up a few hours later, and I was in so much pain. "The anesthetic wore off." The nurse said. "She's losing a lot of blood!" I passed out again, from lack of blood.

I was in the waiting room, very worried from seeing nurses rush around.

I woke up once, screaming, because I could feel everything. "She needs more morphine! " once I got knocked out again, they decided that they should stop my heart for the operation to stop the flow of blood.

I heard a bloody scream. And it scared me, very bad.. the doctor came out, and quickly pulled me aside. "We need you to donate blood.." he said, and I quickly agreed and did so

A few hours later , they got my heart beating again and I was stabilized. When I woke up, I was very sore and dizzy.

When she woke up, I quickly stood, kissing her forehead.. "Thank god.." I said gently.

I sighed and smiled weakly. "God that was awful." I closed my eyes. "The doctor said I'll need a few weeks to recover."

"I heard.. that you woke and.." I shook my head. "Butyes.. it will take a long while hon.." I said. "But you can come home in the nexr few days
