I mean there is planning and plotting and work you just don't do as a player . . . but I think for most people who GM that is the appeal of it. It is why we love GMing . . . for me it is at least. I sometimes prefer setting up and building and plotting over actually playing in my games.
[2] Running a game isn't hard or anything speical . . . [2a] Create a plot that sounds good and is decently solid. Make sure it defines the final objective of the game. [2b] Talk to your players, always prompt them to ask questions. As a GM I find I build games best when players provide me with questions and suggestions (especially on content they do not understand, it forces me to reread and rewrite things so they make sense to everyone . . . it also helps you refine a concept that to you is clear but it actually undefined to other people). Not every GM runs their game the same either. Some GMs like ultimate control, they plot and plan and design everything and the players are just pieces in their world. Some GMs like to run open world, sandbox style games (like myself) that give players certain freedoms otherwise restricted to them in other forms of game play. Some people juggle between the two. [3] You want to keep players interested. . . GIVE THEM GOALS! If players, and yourself as a GM, have short term goals to work towards you always have a storyline that is working towards something. All those goals will lead the ultimate ending, whatever the final objective you set in your plot is. In Escapism War it is to destroy the Dark Lord and it's hordes. In MAPS! it is to rescue or destroy Space (an entity in the game that created the universe). [3a] Now some GMs don't do this, or at least not as obviously as I do, where I ask players to plot out plot point objectives and all that jazz. Some GMs just guide their players by playing significant focus characters in their games (which is something I do, but I like the concept of clearly defining these goals so that EVERYONE knows what they are and EVERYONE is working towards the same thing. You still have the appeal of not knowing how someone is going to react to something your character does, but all that leads to use working towards the same times. Gives the group continuity.)
I love Coulson, I refuse to believe he's dead . . . I REFUSE . . . and if he is my only other hope is that the fandom theory is right and they make him The Vision . . . *had some Coulson feel* *Blush* I'm like anyone I seriously don't see how people think I'm brilliant. Sometimes, like the Escapism War, it's a roleplay that isn't actually original at all. Not a lick of that RP is really anything special. Yet people tell me it is and I just sort of go: "Huh . . . you do realize it's like completely based on classic fantasy motifs . . . and is not special at all. Right?" Okay, because I totally did not cover this when I read it at work: [1] Sometimes that is a reality, I have had many games not take off and it's part of the process . . . and sometimes it's just a matter of redoing it some other time. I have rehashed the same general concept for six years and it's current incarnation is MAPS! and when MAPS! finished (as it is the one RP I intend to see through to the end) I will likely do yet ANOTHER game that has the same general concept . . . as it works for me, it is one I know and can lead well . . . sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't, but it is a concept I adore . . .
AGENT COULSON NEEDS HIS OWN FILM!!!!!! C:
Also, I'm sure that you could never let anyone down. Everyone on this site seems pretty awesome and lax. And from what I know of you I gather you are pretty brilliant! <3 I'm hoping against hope that my realm is alright....
I get the same way. That's why you don't see any of my games up. I'm too scared and un-confident to put them up. I have three that I've been working on for over a year now. But I still can't start them because I'm scared that 1: people won't join, 2: I won't be able to do everything properly as a game master, and 3: make the scenes and everything good enough for people to stay. Someday I probably will start them. But I have to refine them a little more... Got it. Do you mind if I open a journal for Inkrys and post the entire character-sheet on there? Or do you not want other journals to be opened at all? Oh gosh. Should I not be posting these questions on your page? Would you rather I put all my questions and everything in a PM? I'm sure Mattias will get easier to play as the RP progresses darling /sobs... I'm so nervous now. I'm not sure if the realm description is alright. >.<
I get excited and then I get all icky feeling . . . like I'm going to let everyone down. Ha. Go figure right. I think it's partly because I'm juggling two RPs, two very different genres, and concepts. I think . . . part of it is likely because this group is a larger than I am used to running, and not strict TB style. We'll see how that works out. Hmn, guess the other thing is Mattias is very blank slate. He's is going to be hard to play.
If you go to the journal tab in the RP, you'll notice a Realms of The Escapism War journal, that is where you post the world/race/realm extensions. Just follow the instructions there. All the realms will be linked in the overview later.
I promise you, it will make sooooo much more sense! I'm sorry for the vagueness of his profile. I didn't want to put down absolutely everything that I have in the character sheet -- 'cause it's a lot of words XD. Should I post that in a journal for him? Beautiful! Well beautiful in a twisted sense. But I love all that creepy crazy blah blah c: I'm super excited to start playing in this roleplay! <3 And you're alright, gorgeous! I don't mind your rambling on my page <3 It makes me feel loved c;
