Synopsis
The foot soldier: Dishonorably discharged. He favors the lance, but is decent with a machine gun.

Description
Faris is a tall, bearded African male with a sense of fashion and a lance. The lance is about as long as he, but he has no problems wielding it on foot (in fact, he has never used it on horseback). These days, he mostly uses it as a prop; walking around with it gives him a visible sense of importance. He wears sunglasses, even when indoors, suggesting that the canteen he carries might not necessarily be full of water, but he's certainly not ACTING that drunk. His satchel hangs from his right shoulder and left hip.

Personality
Faris is kind and respectful, and knows his place in life. He is very loyal and a natural leader, and though he lacks enough direction to lead an army, all was set for him to be the right hand man (and he would have done well). Once he adopts himself into a squad, he is very aware of the inner hierarchy and, while aiming for a spot near the top, has the best interests of all in mind. He has never left a fellow soldier behind when he could help it, and when he couldn't he still tried to save them. He received many laurels and honors for his time in the war.

However, it has been many years since he was discharged from the army, and he is not at all what he once was. Through his alcoholism, his past and his desire to prove himself once more, he has become thoroughly disillusioned. He views the worlds as broken and skewed, his being constantly at war with itself. Though he has the makings of a pacifist, as he would be the first to tell you, you can't have peace without blood being shed.

Equipment / Abilities
Faris has the metal lance he was given from his very first day as an infantryman with him at all times, and knows how to use it well, both as what it was intended to be, and a club. It has some ornamentation of his kingdom (gears and cogs), and is the color of brass. He also has a full canteen of what smells like paint thinner, the clothes on his back, and three Greek drachmas "just in case I die."

Lance!
(this is not a perfect representation, especially as the gears are purely decorative on his, and it's brass)

History
Faris comes from a world constantly at war with itself (Cargos). In this world, while guns have their place, mass melee combat never died out, despite technological advances. He signed up to fight for the Godking of Pathos (the sworn enemy of his homeland) and was given a lance. He rose through the ranks, being functionally second in command over the army after three years on the field. However, when his commanding officer, General Gunby, ordered him to kill innocent civilians as per the King's command, he stabbed him and fled.

He had been a war hero; stories were told of him and his praises were sung, but now the stories are forgotten, and the songs no longer echo.

Extra
((I know he's less "epic" than the other characters, but I think that fits, with his role being an infantryman. He is still perfectly capable, however, and should be able to hold his own.))
