Tae-Hyun, first off, prefers to be called Tae. He doesn't talk much and can come off as either shy or standoffish, until he's around his older sister. Around his sister Tae becomes more playful and at times a bit over protective. Even though he seems over protective of his sister, Eun Mi, she knows it's all a front to make up for all the times as a kid that he was afraid of everything and needed his big sister to come save him. Though he's still a bit of a coward deep down Tae knows that he'd suck it up for some he cares about. Because of his cowardice he dislikes reckless people and will, at times, act belittling towards them. He's also awful at hiding how he's feeling.
At first Tae is a bit put off by his digimon and even comes off as a bit skeptic but soon enough he warms up to his companion and would do more for Kotemon than he would do for most people.
His greatest fear is insects.
Deep down Tae is at first completely distraught to have the crest of courage but as time goes by and he becomes closer to his human companions and his digimon he eventually faces his fears allowing his digimon to digivolve.
Tae's mother left them when he was at a young age and his father is a business man who travels a lot. He has an older sister who is six years older than him. After he witnessed the events seven years ago he began to live with his older sister who at the time had moved in with their grandmother. Now he lives with his sister and her husband in Seoul, Korea.
Seven years ago Tae went with his father on a business trip to New York. He was excited, though also scared, because it would be his first time seeing the New York he had always heard so much about. He was twelve at the time. At the moment it happened he was alone in the hotel room near Central Park that he and his father were staying in. He was looking out the window when he saw the two big monsters in the park. Of course he was afraid at first, so afraid he almost peed himself, and he closed his eyes hoping they would go away. Though of course when he opened his eyes they didn't but he was too afraid to move. At the time he wouldn't have noticed the wolf like creature seemed to be trying to protect and looking back on it, though he tried not to, he wouldn't have realized it either. The next thing Tae knew, his father had returned and the monsters were gone. Despite telling his father what he saw, Tae's father attributed it to the boys overreactive imagination and the only person who at least listened to his story was Eun Mi.
