Synopsis
With teenager's size, temperament of old, grumpy man and exceptionally cunning mind, he charges high price from those that underestimate him... Partner in crime to Nilofer.

Personality

~. Positive traits:  Cunning, witty, smart (also street-smart) and perceptive. Absolutely loyal to Nilofer. Has healthily amount of caution and curiosity. Thinks thrice before does something drastic. Doesn't give up easily. Kind of brave, but strong survival instincts so will know when to retreat and come up with better plan. Although he tends to grumble, doesn't loose his cool easily. Organized, neat.

~. Negative traits:  Harsh, blunt, cynical, grumpy and therefor easily irritable (to certain extent). Stingy in most cases. Can be very deceptive if it benefits him or Nilofer. Distrustful, resentful, reclusive and reserved. Hard to excite and move emotionally. Displays stubbornness. Negative outlook on things. Unforgiving. Cold and calculating. Has little issue with killing someone. Possessive. Slightly prideful.

It seems there is little good to say about this male and even those good aspects he has, Nayrem often ends up using for bad things, like his sharp mind. There is something half broken in him, as people and events of his life have often tried to trample his spirit, but Nayrem has always pulled through, becoming more and more bitter. Where perhaps once stood an innocent child with endless wonder for this world now is a man that knows that it is little more than endless struggle to get on top of dung pile so you don't suffocate. If not in physical sense, then in moral one for sure. Deep down, much deeper than he would ever admit, he is suffering and wishes for a different life, different world, but idealistic beliefs it could ever exist have been long since rooted out, making him the cynical jerk he is now.

He isn't charismatic, doesn't strive to be, he doesn't know how to be purely sweet and caring - any attempt to do something nice will be covered up with annoyed explanation he is only doing that so you would stop bothering him. Even his only trusted person in the whole wide land, Nilofer, doesn't receive different treatment. In fact, you would think they hate each other's guts after observing their interactions. And sometimes, they exploit it, 'splitting' up and seemingly aiding those that would conspire against either of them, to later destroy these beguiled people. 

Nayrem doesn't know how to woo nor does he want any attachment. Any interest in him as a man or a person he would take with great suspicion. He is confident in his survival skills and mind, but otherwise has no self-esteem. And he really isn't the most desirable partner, except for undying loyalty he has for those closest to him. He would kill, steal and even die for people he trusts and cares for in his awkward manner, really anything that was needed. But it is not easily obtained status and if it is ever lost... That person won't have much left to live. He reacts similarly to smaller scale betrayals too, however. In truth, he can be rather possessive and jealous. Although he has no romantic interest in Nilofer, he will get extra grumpy if she seems to getting more seriously interested in someone and be rather mean to the man. He claims it's out of wish to see her safe, but it is very likely he also fears to be abandoned.

This man knows how to make an impression - at least if it is a scary one. Despite his much mocked size, he knows how to threaten and make people tremble in fear. There is just something so cold and kind of brutal in those eyes of his... Normally, Nayrem lets his partner deal with clients, however, only getting involved if it's going too slow in his opinion. 

He has split feelings about street urchins and the like - from one side, he would like to help them, from other he believes that they have to toughen up on their own because no one will support them forever. But if Nilofer insists on aiding one, he will complain under breath, but comply. In truth, he is kind of go-with-the-flow guy and prefers to have his life simple, straightforwards and doesn't mind if Big N assumes leadership. But as soon there is need, he will be fully focused and planning ten steps ahead, not worse than a general would before battle. 

Nayrem hates spending money on anything - lucking Nilofer is an excellent bargainer and where that doesn't work, one can always steal. When it comes to supplies or anything survival related, he is thoughtful and plans it all out well. Being such a down-to-earth person, he is actually 'home-keeper' in their duo, but doesn't particularly mind it.


Equipment / Abilities
~. Natural abilities .~
  • Short, but thick coat as well as long hair between toes and fur over foot pads that insulated heat make him well adapted to both desert environment and extremes of hot and cold temperatures
  • The claws on the hind feet are small and blunt, and combined with furred feet, makes the animal's tracks obscure and difficult to follow
  • Large ears with very wide ear canal gives enhanced hearing even compared to other felines 
  • Sight, night vision in particular, and smell exceed that of a human
  • Small size and quick reflexes allow to avoid many attacks, give bonus to hiding and getting in or out of small spaces
  • Able to burst out in a very fast sprint for a short while, nearly doubling speed of a normal human sprint, and cross large distances in single day/night
  • Able to endure without water for prolonged period (but not as long as Nilofer)
  • Powerful jaw and teeth although there is little advantage of this in day-to-day life or even most fights

  • Small size is also disadvantage as he is unable to reach higher places as easily and does not have quite as much physical strength as other men
  • He is very susceptible to any respiratory infections and needs arid environment to feel good

History
Story of his past alone is never shared, but the one regarding his life together with Nilofer changes according to what is needed - from being childhood friends to having rescued her from abusive father or slave trader. Perhaps all of them have a bit of truth in them, as most tales do, but that is to be uncovered with time. 
Although it's hard to pinpoint exactly when two N's teamed up, some things are known well enough. For past few years, the duo has been travelling from one city and village to another, stealing what they want or need for survival. Usually, only Nilofer is seen, giving a beautiful performance while Nayrem picks all watchers clean of their gold pouches and even jewelry and knives. When they have attracted too much attention (such as the bounty has got too high) they disappear from scene for a while until she-caracal surfaces again with adjusted appearance and everything starts all over. They do not shy away from killing if needed. 
In criminal circles, they are known rather well, both mocked and feared to certain extent. They keep their distance from other thieves as well, not involved in any thief guilds or anything of the sort. So, they have no loyalty to anyone or any unwritten laws that forbid them to strike down just about anyone, nor it is easy to predict who that may be. Now and then, they allow someone to hire them, but only if the price is extremely well, and they prefer stealing over assassination jobs.
