Personality

With his blood a mix of nobility and beast, Baerros was destined to be a monster unequaled. A king sitting atop the food chain, his greatest strength a terrifying serenity afforded to only the strongest of creatures. While terrible, the fiendish noble is not merciless and rare are the opportunities where he affords his opponents no quarter. Baerros is firstly a protector, a guardian to his very core. Though deep in his makeup, a thirst for blood remains, he is strong enough to suppress the urge and use it as a tool instead. Loyalty is something he values above all else, and there a few orders that could be given that he would not treat as absolute. A shield, a sword or even armor, he is a tool and will act as such without hesitation. A moral code of surprising firmness, his own feelings can be discarded on command, though he may later regret some actions.

Baer is stoic, to say the least. His emotions are kept firmly in check, enough that he is often wrongly assumed to lack them entirely. While he has a surprisingly wide sense of humor, he finds a special sort of delight in the gallows variety. A creature of habit, he finds comfort in the familiar. Places, people and pleasures are things he finds important, the feeling of home the most significant feeling of all. A young demon, he's roughly a decade from becoming acknowledged nobility himself, and though he's several centuries old there are many things he is still somewhat naive about.

Equipment / Abilities

Demonic Nobility : As the only son of a demon noble, he has access to six of his father's nineteen demonic legions. He can communicate with his forces through ravens and hounds. Baerros can form a pair of wings out of his aura and use them to fly, the energy he emits is a majestic royal purple, he can also form talon-like claws from both his hands and feet. In combat he tends to summon his weapon instead however. Baer can take the guise of a crow, or that of a dark-furred wolf.

Hollow Bones : Baerros is incredibly light, and his bone structure is a major part of that. Somewhat like a bird's, his bones are hollow. While this makes him much lighter, even with his demonic strength he faces danger of them breaking under greater force or well placed attacks.

Apex Instincts : Baerros' instincts are those of a predator far beyond the realms of being threatened by anything less than another monster, whether they be divine or demonic. A gift of being a supernatural hunter, insight into the being of both his prey and even other predators. From basic things like the ability to size up a foe's strength and abilities, to being able to sense the intensity of their aura and the strength of their spirit. It goes without saying that a beast like him can smell fear.

Valrgeir the Nefarious Talon; Fiendish Harbinger of the End : The weapon bestowed to Baerros by his father, a war scythe with a shaft forged of an extraordinarily light alloy that appears to be white gold polished to a brilliant sheen. The blade only appears when Baerros channels his spirit into the haft, a swathe of absolute darkness wreathed in a faint smoldering traces of its wielder's violet aura. The blade harnesses the destructive power of the negative energy that flows through the very makeup of a powerful demon. Not only does the blade not give off light, it can feast off surrounding light sources by way of focus, dimming or even completely devouring them depending on the level of concentration. Any creature slain by the scythe is consumed by darkness, leaving no body behind and a closer inspection of the blade reveals faint images of the souls it has claimed. The souls can be retrieved and resurrected by a being of sufficient power, even if they are not near the scythe or its wielder, though practitioners of this 'true resurrection' are extremely powerful and few in number. The weapon can be used without summoning the blade as a quarterstaff without suffering much in the way of balance, since the absent blade is made of pure energy.

History
Baerros' family was not the sort of nobility with extensive influence or political prowess, they were warriors granted dominion in exchange for loyal service. Naberius, though a demon with more than outright power, was one of Hell's most famous gatekeepers under the alias Cerberus. Baerros was raised in his father's image, to watch over the gates of Hell as a guard dog, but Satan had other plans for the son of Cerberus later in his life. Like his father, he was not outright evil, but stuck ferociously to a rather strict code of honor. Without a firm stance on good and evil, he would neither be consumed by the darkness in his daughter, nor would he be driven away. As an observer and a guard, it was important to remain impartial. Taking his animal forms, the crow and the dog, he would watch over the girl for over two decades. To see her struggle through the pains of being human, the misfortune and the crushing despair that accompanied it, he kept a silent watch.

It was not as though he didn't feel for her, watching her grow up he'd come to think of her as something akin to family, even from a distance. Still, he was in place to protect her from danger. The only time he would have acted, Magna had already taken to her side with Whip following not so far behind. Content to remain concealed, his cover was blown by an overeager observer from Heaven. The two had taken notice of each other, and the overwhelming goodness in that angel brought out fight rather than flight, leaving Baerros as the first line of defense. Taking up human form for the first time on Earth, he summoned Valrgeir and fought against the angel in the backyard of Lily's home. It was extraordinarily late at night, and the light show of their battle hadn't seemed to wake any neighbors as the infernal scythe crossed blades with the angel's flaming sword. Proclaiming that good would always triumph over evil and attempting to end the battle in one final strike, the angel lunged wildly at Baerros. With a quick swipe of Valrgeir, the angel's head tumbled to the ground and faded into energy like the rest of his body as Baer's weapon absorbed it.

While the idea that good triumphs is generally reserved for fairytales and superstitions, the young demon supposed that there was no harm in a neutral guardian like himself.
