Kieran Van Vaughn

So assured is Kieran in the supremacy of magic that he even considers himself above veteran warriors returned from Koragnier, who he sees as expendable meat shields that managed to survive their term of service. Such fighters must be like ants to the demons, but magic, magic is the true weapon against them and it is magic that will decide every single battle. Such is his view of his fellow Firstborn that he won't deign to speak freely with anyone unless they're a mage of equal or greater power than his own.

He's smart enough to keep his opinions to himself, knowing full well that they won't be welcome among his inferiors, but then again such people are of little consequence to him. It's a small thing for Kieran to feign politeness whilst looking down on others, though his acting skills are not perfect. Whether it's his smile appearing a little too forced, or his soft-spoken voice letting slip an edge of disdain, others soon learn to avoid trying to befriend him as such efforts would be futile.

If Kieran has any redeeming qualities, it's that he thinks very little of sacrificing himself for others. Given the existence of revivalists, death is but a minor inconvenience to him and he has long lost his fear of pain, due to his brutal upbringing. In spite - or perhaps because - of his hubris, Kieran is more than willing to put himself in harm's way, though it'd be less a concern for the safety of others than severe overconfidence in his own abilities.
