Synopsis
I'm no philosopher when it comes to life even if I'm some "spiritualist" or whatnot. Crazy Grandma...

Description

DOB: May 10
Hair Color: Jet black
Hair Style: Always cut very short
Eye Color: Bright green
Height: 5' 7"
Weight: 130 lbs
Species: Human

Personality
The Sweetheart~
Naturally, Arien is a very sweet and loving person. Though she is constantly labeled as the outcast over in Juniper, it never stopped her from caring about virtually everyone. She has this uncanny affinity for being nice. Too nice sometimes. But, in her opinion, it was better than being an asshole.
Of course, this came with the horrid habit of being a tad too gullible, but that's in the past. At 22 years of age, Arien does not put her trust in people so easily. She's been betrayed one too many times.

...She can still kick your ass.
Somehow.
She may look lanky, and she may look like she's weak, but Arien is somewhat deadly with her punches and kicks. Especially when angered. This girl is a real hothead when it comes down to it, but you really have to piss her off for her to get to the point where she sees red.

Patience is the key!
Arien will gladly hold her horses and wait for things to come to her. It's been a great help to her through the years, especially after Hadrian left.

Emotional, just like many of the other girls in the world.
Of course, she got a little too emotional when Hadrian left. To be honest, he was the one good friend she had. Talking on the phone and writing through emails was definitely not a good replacement for actually seeing his face and talking to him normally, but it did curve any anxiety she felt.
...And then when he stopped communicating, she almost lost it, buuuut... Hey, she had the right.

Equipment / Abilities
Spiritualist? She doesn't know that yet, shhhhh.
Arien is a descendent of a long line of what are called "spiritualists," or shamans. People like this are able to freely channel Ki within themselves and within the things around them. One the most skilled can channel through air. Normal shamans can only channel Ki and the elements through the use of tiny papers with symbols written on them and incantations.
Unfortunately, Arien is not really aware that this is a real thing. Her Grandma did pretty well in convincing her that it was a game.

Weapons? Sorry, not really.
Besides her hands, feet, and mind, Arien doesn't have any real weapons. She would never hold a gun in her hands no matter what the situation.
More or less, she'll probably use brainpower to get out of sticky situations. Fists and feet come after.

Skills
Not many. She knows three languages: English, German, and Mandarin, though English is obviously her strongest. She's also quite good with computers, though not in the particularly good way. She's a competent hacker and knows technology inside and out.

History
Childhood
As a child, Arien was never really accepted among her peers. Other young children would stray away from her, and this caused her to have very many insecurities. Due to this, Arien was highly introverted and extremely shy. Her parents and grandparents did their best to try and open her up to a variety of people, but it never seemed to work.

Until she met Hadrian. It was in kindergarten that they met, and it didn't take long for them to become fast friends. Though they were very much opposites, that was probably what brought them together.

Throughout her childhood, Arien always tried to help Hadrian whenever things were rough at home, and he did the same for her. However, that freakin' doofus was too cocky for his own good at times, and Arien couldn't help but smack him in the back of the head.

Meanwhile, in her household, Arien's parents were constantly busy. She was always taken care of by her grandmother. The two of them would always play games where Arien had to memorize symbols or learn how to draw on special paper. Eventually, her grandmother taught her all of these incantations and passed them off as "fun games." Little did Arien know that it was a type of training commonly given to a shaman...

Adolescence
Even when Arien became a teenager, life was still pretty much the same for her. Things didn't change.
She went through puberty and all, but still.

Things changed when Hadrian had to leave though.
When he broke the news to her, the girl ended up clinging to him for the next few months until moving day. Literally. She'd go home with him and everything. It was a bit catastrophic when he finally left. For a while, Arien didn't feel alone -- the two of them talked all the time and wrote to each other -- but it didn't take long for her to feel the shadow of loneliness seeping into her skin once again.

At the same time, Arien's grandmother landed herself in the hospital with terminal cancer. Before the old woman died, she told Arien to never forget their games and that they would come in handy some day. Arien didn't understand at the time.

After going through a rough patch, Arien tried her best to toughen up. She took up martial arts classes, though she quit sometime during the end of high school. In all honesty, she became a little more hardened because of her experiences.

Hadrian's disappearance challenged her more than anything, however. When he suddenly stopped communicating, the anxiety ate away at her until she couldn't even eat or sleep. The battle within her raged like an eternal fire until she finally turned 18 and graduated high school.

That said, her plan was to go to Manhattan where Hadrian lived and track the bastard down. Unfortunately, her plans became moot when she found out that her parents had enrolled her into a college without her knowledge. As far as she was concerned, she wasn't going to college until she found that son of a bitch. Alas, such things didn't happen.

Adulthood
At the age of 22, Arien graduated top of her class in a state college and earned her Bachelor's in Biochemistry.
She skipped the celebrations.
The minute she graduated, Arien took off to Manhattan, ready to finally find the one she's been fretting over for the past few years. All she took with her was a cell phone, a suitcase with some clothing, her lucky pendant, and a small pouch of good luck charms her grandmother left her.

Extra
According to stories and a few drawings that were plastered in Arien's home, it can be surmised that her grandmother looked like this as a shaman:
