How to Use This Forum

Not sure how the Mentoring forum is meant to be used? Hopefully this will cover everything!

For Those Seeking Mentoring

Let's say you're new to WTF RPG and you're having trouble following the guides on how to use the site. Or maybe there's a new feature and a guide hasn't been written yet.

Rather than give up - just make a thread here and wait patiently for someone to come along and walk you through it! Make sure that you're clear about what issues you're having or where you're confused. This will save you some frustration of having something you've already figured out explained to you.

Or maybe you're new to roleplaying in forums or have never roleplayed a type of game before and want someone with experience to help you out before you commit to a "real" game.

Make a thread and tell prospective mentors what you're looking for! Games like The WTF Multiverse are designed to let new users jump in, try their hand at something, and pop out again without feeling obligated to stick around, so they make perfect training grounds.

When you're finished with your thread, it would help out a lot to edit the title to say, "Thanks!" or "No more help needed!" or "Done" so people know that you no longer need assistance, but this is not required.

For Mentors

Mentors should not make their own thread. If you're one of those amazing people who likes nothing more than to show new people the ropes, just hop into the thread of someone having problems and help them through the issue.

We do not want mentors making their own threads for the following reasons:
- It reduces the number of people actively helping people who need help because they expect people to come to them.
- People needing help may be overlooked or feel overlooked if multiple people post with issues at the same time.
- If a mentor goes on vacation/gets busy at work/leaves the site, people seeking help may not realize that the thread host is inactive and become frustrated with waiting for an answer.
